Traditional issues after marriage

I’m an atheist who was born into a Christian home but went my own way at 15 and found my partner at 23 who was initially a very nice person. He comes from a Muslim family, Indian background which is known to be memon. I didn’t know much about the background. I thought Muslim is Muslim because my best friend is one and her family is so sweet down to earth and the men in that family are very calm and love their wives so much. They give off the provider energy. That was the kind of love I wished for. However, my partner treated with me utmost love, he didn’t mind my beliefs and gave me everything. He was so in love with me. He barely spoke about his family too so I thought he was on his own?

He did engage in alcohol and had a history of being with non Muslim women. Everything was so unislamic in his life and he would tell me how he badly wanted to be a “good Muslim”. I’m not going to convert into any religion but I respected Islam and its teaching but he was far from it.

He is financially well off spends money without a thought. He would spend so much on our dates, buy gifts for me etc etc (not sure if he wanted to impress me)

He asked me to leave my job because there were men who worked with me.. I was taking care of my mother.. but thought he was just jealous but apparently not, but I found him talking to women at his office. His excuse was he sees both genders equally but doesn’t his religion say not to be close to the opposite gender?

During the wedding time he expected my family to do a few things saying it’s in his culture.. like kiss his parents hands, his aunts hands, his grandma’s hand which I found to be very weird.

To buy furnitures for the house since it’s very much the brides side responsibility. We did give half of it.

We did an engagement from our side and I was told to cover my head during the registration, which I didn’t mind honestly. The hijab was cute. He expected my family to do the mehendi and invited a big crowd from his side since he was like a mehendi is a must in his culture. My mum and I funded it with a bit of help from my relatives. When we booked the venue he kept saying it’s such an ugly venue and to do it in a hotel which was out of our budget.

We did the wedding grandly (from my side) I spent every cent I had. He demanded a big wedding. His family expected a royal treatment from my family which I didnt like.

He only did a home coming ceremony and kept bragging about it. This time they forced me to cover my head saying it’s a memon thing and I hated the way I looked in it.

Things started to change, right after our homecoming we had to go to his place and his sisters were really such a show off and expected me to respect them I found it really upsetting. He ignored me and was very much with them. He spends his whole time with his sisters and his mother and yes that’s been my life so far. I was forced to wear covered clothes cos his mother and sisters didn’t like it. I was forced to stop wearing makeup.

Now that I gave birth he tells me his culture expects my side to do everything for our child. Hospital , furnitures, gifts, clothing etc. he said that the maternal side must do everything for the first child and I feel so much in pain because I currently don’t have a job and my mother doesn’t have enough money and all I see is him spending money on others and his family.

He kept putting my family down saying that we are poor and how he’s rich and my mum cannot afford a thing etc.

I just hate the decision I made and this memon nonsense.

I do not need comments backlashing the religion, backlash the culture. I respect the religion and its teaching so your hatred towards the religion doesn’t add value this.

Found nudes on husbands phone of his female older colleague

Not my story. Typing for a friend.

I’m newly married and went through my husbands phone.. his WhatsApp group called “other”. Where he puts his personal stuff. I saw pictures of this female colleague who I asked him to stay away from.

For context I’m 25, my husband is 32 and this colleague is almost 40-41ish. She used to work with him a few years ago and got fired In the company they both worked in. He recently opened his own company and hired her to do freelancing. She did his marketing work. During our engagement period they would always get onto calls, discuss strategy and he would spoon feed her a lot because she doesn’t do anything on her own until he helps her do it. I’m not the jealousy type, I had no issue since she’s old and obviously it’s work related. He asked me one day if I felt uncomfortable I should tell him because there is nothing between them. He always lets me know when she calls him and what they work on etc etc. I also had no issue cos she’s engaged and was about to marry someone. However what bothered me was, she asked him why didn’t he wish her on her birthday and I was like that’s not normal for an employee to say that. When I stalked her she had really skimpy clothes on her Instagram which made me feel so weird. I asked him to remove her after that. He shares everything with me though. She then messages him asking why did he unfollow her. Now it made me really annoyed so I asked him to fire her. He constantly said there’s nothing wrong with it: however he did fire her discretely by ignoring her.

A month before my wedding.. she was the reason why me and my fiance separated. He met up with his ex colleagues and she was seated close to him, she was trying to get his attention, playing with her hair, turning to his side, smiling at him. It was all caught on a video I found that same night. I confronted him and he said nothing happened but I saw it on my own. We then didn’t speak to each other and the wedding almost called off.

We get married after a few months. He invited her for the wedding. His colleagues came to hug him but she stood there awkwardly saying congrats to him.

2 months into the marriage I go through my husbands phone and yes I find her nudes which was saved back when they worked together in that company. It was saved as a screen shot from WhatsApp.

I go and save 2 of her nudes and later confront my husband and he says it was sent to him by a friend who was in love with her. I asked him a 100 times and that’s what he said and he promised on Allah and everything else and said he’s never attracted to her. I really hate her and wish I exposed her sooner since she has also cheated on her partner.

Just to know if my husband or his friend was the real affair I sent her fiance her nudes anonymously and he immediately starts shouting at me lol as if he already knows her affairs.

A week later my husband asks me if I did something weird cos the police had called him. Later he said his friend is trying to reach out to him asking why didn’t he delete those nudes as HER fiance has filed a complaint on her nudes being shared.

I’m still upset about everything that happened. I blame my husband too. It’s his fault.

I’m not sure what needs to be done here. I just badly wanna take revenge on her for ruining my marriage lol.

Are IT companies a bit more unethical?

I joined the industry recently and find it really awkward to connect to some people. Even clients. Most of them are really old men, then younger women like myself who are juniors. Mind you these men are married to lovely women and have a happy family. I was invited for an event, so during this event different companies were all part of it. I observed how these men tried to flirt with us, offering us drinks etc. there were some women who would let these men use them cos they needed a promotion.

There was once a tour trip overseas for the clients and me and a colleague were also sent to assist, mind you, these men hired you know what and shared them around. It was a horrible experience to me. Looks like they’re banging aunties and young Thai girls. It’s so normal to them that they even proudly share pictures and videos of these nasty things over to others.

I can’t disclose these companies lol, but just know if you’re a wife to a husband who owns an IT retail company or works in it , he’s most likely cheating on u.

To men who lived their whole life partying, drugs, alcohol

To men who lived their life partying, engaging in sex, drugs and alcohol.. what was your life like during this time and where are you now?

Did you end up with someone clean or similar?

I met a guy who told me he’s had a past and it was really bad, he’s told me everything he’s engaged in and now he’s looking to settle down. He’s in his mid thirties and I’m still in my twenties. He also comes from a very religious home which I respect and wished he practiced “good manners” but anyway, mehh. I come from a very similarly moderately religious family and I haven’t touched a guy before lol.

But my concern is, do I give it a go since he’s done too many shit? He’s a good guy, nothing to complain about, he’s my type but it’s his past that has been bothering me a lot.

I’m trying to understand the psychology behind men enjoying their life to such things and gradually when time comes they want to settle down with someone clean? He did say he wouldn’t be with someone who’s had a similar past as him.

Sister in law and her twin eyeing on my husband

It has only been two and a half months since I got married, and I have already started feeling really uncomfortable in certain situations.

In our culture newly married couples are often invited for lunches, dinners and little gatherings.

Families host us, give us treats and sometimes we host or treat them as a couple too.

However during these gatherings I have noticed my cousin’s wife and her twin sister behaving in a way that makes me uncomfortable around my husband. At first, I did not think much of it. Since my husband is new to the family, I understood that people would naturally want to speak to him and get to know him.

My cousin and I grew up in the same house, although we were not very close as we got older because I moved abroad for my studies and returned later. When he got married, his wife and I never really got along. I found her to be very attention-seeking and often involved in gossip.
Even at my wedding, she seemed to want attention for herself. Lol she arranged a surprise dance on my wedding and appeared to be fishing for compliments throughout the event. I tried not to let it affect me.
But since the post-wedding functions started, I have noticed more things. At nearly every lunch or dinner both she and her twin sister seem to give my husband looks, try to make conversation with him, joke around him and constantly find reasons to approach him. My cousin’s wife has even made jokes about her own husband in front of mine.
My husband is polite but he barely speaks to them beyond short replies. Despite that they still keep trying to engage him. Her twin sister, especially has a very uncomfortable way of staring at him and behaving in a way that feels inappropriate like pushing her chest forward and back out. They have also sent him Instagram requests even though they barely know him.

It feels gross and disrespectful. My husband has also come to me and said that he feels uncomfortable around them and wonders why they have to be included in every gathering.

I’m not close to them but they are still part of my family, so cutting them off completely would feel awkward. At the same time, I am exhausted by the situation and genuinely want distance from them. I do not know how to handle this without creating unnecessary family drama.

The proof of Mauritius women traveling abroad for sw

People here seem really triggered by the question I asked previously about why Mauritius women go abroad for sw and many don’t seem to fully be educated on what racism actually means and just speak out of their minds.

Instead of getting defensive, maybe encourage your people to focus on finding proper jobs rather than traveling abroad to sell their bodies.

If you look closely, I was actually filming the decor at the hotel, and it was completely unintentional that they appeared in the video. I only noticed afterwards that the women ran up to the two Indian men in front, hugged them and went into the rooms with them. I never believed in such until such incidents occurred.

Why does Mauritius women come to Sri Lanka for sw

Hi, just a genuine question -why do there seem to be so many women from Mauritius involved with men in countries like Sri Lanka and Malaysia, often in transactional or prostitution/escort-related situations? Is it linked to economic struggles, lack of opportunities or something else? I’ve noticed many of them are with Indian, Sri Lankan, or older white men and some appear connected through that kind of work.

Edit - People here seem really triggered by the question and many don’t seem to be fully educated on what racism actually means. Instead of getting defensive, maybe encourage your people to focus on finding proper jobs rather than traveling abroad to sell their bodies.

How common is prostitution in Sri Lanka

However it’s been some time, I’ve seen Mauritius women meeting up with married looking men at hotels. They meet and greet, chat and go straight to the rooms. Don’t ask me I just happen to see them weirdly. I’ve spoken to a few mutuals who has also admitted that they’ve seen escorts while being married which was really damaging.

I want to divorce my husband

For context- we’re Muslims. (Yes Islam forbids abuse) yet some men never learn.

He’s a gem to the universe, a man that everyone thinks is cool. I saw that in him too before we got married but it was all a joke.

He was never my type on paper but because he seemed nice I gave it a go. I realised that he is an abusive man inside , he thinks highly of himself and mocks at the people who aren’t blessed with much. He shit talks behind people’s back. It’s always made me feel uncomfortable around him.

He is an alcoholic and I have to deal with it all the times - he gets really violent.

Yet worse is he abuses me when I’m pregnant. I haven’t opened up to anyone yet and planning on not to but I need support and help on how to get a divorce since the law for Muslim marriage and divorce act hinders on the man’s decision. He isn’t agreeing to the divorce but I know for a fact that me and my child will be dead soon. He has psychically abused me a few times that almost killed me.

Please help me out.
