Balance owed paid, still not updated?

Paid a small amount I owed after a GST reassessment back on September 16th (only 26$).

It is still indicating as a balance owed in the benefits tab. Is this normal? I paid directly in my CRA account and I see the amount deducted from my bank account.

Trying to see if others had issues with delayed updates before I sit on the phone for a few hours over 26$.

Thanks!

How reliable are late night/early morning Ubers in the city?

My husband and I have a 5am flight in a few weeks, so ideally need to get there 2ish hours before (domestic, no checked bags). Have folks had success with Uber in the middle of the night? We may just see if somebody can do us a favor and drive us, but its a friday so most folks work and wouldn't want to drive us at 3am.

Shame my son for peeing on his future wife's face

Our Freya (F, spayed) was out for her usual free roam time. I wanted to adjust a few things in Baldurs (M, intact for now) pen, he slipped by me and darted to see freya on the couch. As I was about to scoop him up to put him back, he turned into a tiny sprinkler. All over the couch cover, my PJ pants, and freyas face 🫠🤣

He has no regrets, but his manhood better drop soon so I can book him in for the snip.

This may be my last male baby bun and while the rescue asked me to take him in early, I WISH he would have been neutered first.

Best advice to care for lops?

I had taken in a 3.5 month old lop from a local rescue as a future bonding friend for my current rabbit.

My previous bun had some severe ear problems despite not being a lop (to the point of causing seizure like behavior due to pressure in his inner ear, nothing was visible except via xray).

Having a rabbit in the past with ear issues had me wary to take in a lop, but his temperament was perfect to fit with my current rabbit and it was love at first sight for me too honestly.

What type of precautions do lop owners take to try to avoid the many issues this breed of rabbit has ear wise? Should I be doing weekly ear cleanings etc? I am aware they also tend to have dental issues due to how their skulls are shaped compared to most rabbit breeds. Is chew toys/hay/pellets/appropriate treats enough or should he have his teeth checked more frequently?

Any advice is appreciated! I am a experienced rabbit owner for the last 6 years, but never with a lop.

Chewie celebrated his 13th birthday today.

Just a big happy boy with his new chicken toy and his dog friendly cake! His hat betrayed him in the second picture though 🤣

So glad we got to spend another birthday with him 💚

Safe credit card for travel?

I have the PC financial world Mastercard and to date haven't had any issues with any type of transaction.

I plan to do a trip to another province in october and was planning to use this card for the hotel stay since my husbands card with a different bank has a much lower limit.

Have folks had success notifying that they will be traveling and had the card not get frozen? I've seen a few folks say theirs did, but I know reddit is the place folks post about their grievances more than success stories.

Please only comment if you have had no issues using your card while traveling within canada!

Does adding a spouse count as "poking the bear?"

So to start, i am not the veteran, my husband is.

He had initially submitted his application back in mid 2024 and only just had all his appointments in May and got his 60% rating (which he is more than fine with).

We got married in 2025 and he had let them know when they finally started processing his file in 2026, he was told they would reach out to him to collect marriage certificate, my info, etc but never did.

So his claim was finalized as just him. We don't care much about the difference in amounts, we were just told its better to be honest with the fact he is married.

Could this cause issues for his existing completed claim in any way? Or it would just be them updating the details we provide?

Thank you in advance!

Husband is receiving US VA benifits. What to expect for next tax season?

Hello,

My husband is a ex US marine, his disability VA claim was accepted, and trying to figure out what that means for us next tax season.

I see folks saying its exempt from canadian taxes because of a clause on the CRA site stating "amounts paid by Canada or an allied country (if the amount is not taxable in that country) for disability or death of a war veteran due to war service". What he is receiving is not taxable in the USA.

However I am seeing folks also saying canada will consider it a pension and tax at 15%, despite it being a benefit, not a pension. He didn't retire, he was not allowed to re-enlist due to being limited duty due to his health problems incurred while enlisted.

Folks who genuinely know this topic preferred, tried talking to local tax agents who deal in canadian/US returns and they have yet to deal with it so they are unsure as well, since the wording can fall under both sections.

We don't want to get in trouble with the CRA. Note the funds remain in his US bank account since we have no need to transfer them to a canadian account currently.
