Is ChatGPT making anyone’s maladaptive daydreaming/ADHD way worse?

Every time I get a new hyperfixation I go on chatgpt and research whatever it is for hours and construct timelin of what’s plausible for my daydream to play out. Like if I hyperfixate on a location I research the area, activities, restaurants. If I hyperfixate on an artist I research the previous tours/shows they did what I could’ve gone to. If I hyperfixate on travel I research all the companies I could use. It’s endless and then I forgot or move on from my hyperfixation and I look back at all the chats, so many in like a short time.

I like to re-listen to old episodes.

I prefer their old episodes reviewing celebrity memoirs, their dynamic is so much better, they’re really good at summarising a book. I wish they kept doing celebrity memoirs and added the new format as a separate episode like beyond the blinds or a separate podcast. I still listen to the new show but it doesn’t hit the same as the old one.

I hate my life right now and I don’t know how to get out of this feeling

I feel like I’ve been stuck since the pandemic and I don’t know how to move forward.

Before COVID I was training to become a pilot, and losing that path completely changed me. I lost confidence, isolated myself, lost friendships, and it feels like I never really recovered. I feel like I’m grieving a version of myself and a future that never happened.

I’m now in an engineering pathway that I hate. I feel trapped in a routine that feels completely wrong for me. I hate sitting still all day, staring at a screen, and feeling like every day is the same. I hate being in the same town, living at home, and feeling like my life is on pause while everyone else is moving forward.

The hardest part is I don’t even know exactly what I want anymore. I just know I don’t want this. I want a life with movement, new places, new people, experiences, and something to feel excited about.

I have tried to improve things — I work, I go out sometimes, I’ve met new people — but underneath it all I still feel deeply unhappy and unfulfilled. I keep thinking about my life being exactly the same in another 5 years and it scares me.

I feel like I’m stuck between being too afraid to leave and being miserable if I stay. I don’t know how to start rebuilding a life when I feel like I’ve already lost so much time.

Grieving the career I failed to achieve and struggling to find a new path

During the pandemic I was training to become a pilot, but several things happened (loss of money, loss of confidence, isolation) and I wasn’t able to achieve it. I still think about it every day and I feel like I’ve been grieving that future ever since.

Now I’m in an engineering apprenticeship and I really struggle with it. I haven’t been in an environment where I have to sit still all day and stare at a screen/whiteboard in 10 years, and I feel trapped by how much I dislike it.

During the pandemic I also isolated myself and lost most of my friends. I’ve started going out more and meeting new people, but it doesn’t feel the same and I still feel like I’m stuck.

The hardest part is I don’t know what I actually want anymore. I know I don’t want a life where every day is the same: sitting at a desk, staying in the same place, doing the same routine. I want movement, new places, new people, experiences and a life that feels exciting, but I don’t know how to turn that into an actual career or path.

I’m also scared to leave because it took me so long to get this opportunity and I don’t want to make another mistake.

It was a struggle to even get this job so I’m afraid to leave.

Hate civil engineering.

Been a civil engineering apprentice for a while now and honestly I’m really struggling with it.

I’ve done a variety of tasks, but the biggest thing I hate is being sat in an office all day. I knew there would be technical work, but I didn’t realise how much of the job would be emails, reports, documents and staring at a screen.

The thing that gets me is how technical and specialised it feels for the salary you’re on. I’m constantly learning complicated stuff but don’t really feel like the pay reflects the level of responsibility/knowledge.

Best female celeb body in your opinion?

These are mine in my opinion, I tend to prefer larger breasts, narrow shoulders and slimmer legs. However, probably prefer shape overall (hourglass or pear). Probably mirroring my own body except for the narrow shoulders and flat toned stomach. Out of all of these I’d want Camilla’s or Emily Ratajkowski’s Body.

Feel so old and like I missed out on so much at 28

I’m 28 and I’m starting over in a career I don’t really like or care about due to circumstances. I have a bachelor’s in something else, and I was training in a field I actually cared about, it was all I wanted to do. Then the pandemic happened and completely shook that path. I ended up failing the training I was doing, took menial jobs like van driving and warehouse work, then was unemployed for two years. Now I’m in a low paying role.

I feel like I missed out on so many milestones as a 28 year old. I never moved out after uni (my last year was during the pandemic, so I commuted). I never went travelling. I never formed a solid group of friends in my 20s. I’m stuck in a dead town. I obviously didn’t qualify in the career I actually wanted. I’m just so low, and I’ve been like this since the pandemic tbh.

I’m trying to branch out. I met a group of girls and we go out in London and stuff, but it doesn’t feel natural the way it did when I was at uni, it feels like I’m performing. I also went on holiday with my friend twice earlier this year. Other than that, I still feel low all the time. I feel extremely behind.

I was extremely controlled as a tween and teen, and I missed out on a lot of formative socialisation. I’m trying to make up for it now, but it’s hard because my job is very boring and I’m barely around people. My town is very small, and I don’t want to build a life here because I hate the idea of going out in this town.

At this point in my life, all I want to do is travel, party and escape my dead end town, but financially it’s just not feasible.

Sorry if this is long winded just needed to get it out.

Can I afford to live in London on 23k, has anyone been able to do this?

I’m an apprentice which is why my salary is so low. Im in my late 20s. I’m currently living with my parents but it is becoming increasingly exhausting/stressful. I have a 1.6L car (it’s worth nothing so no point in selling) which I need for work. My current expenses are like £200ish a month. I will look into getting a second job on the weekend (warehouse, retail, whatever) but I’m too exhausted from my current living situation at the minute. I’d prefer to live in south London (not Croydon) as it’s closer to work. Is this possible?
