I forgot how fast these eggs hatch in summer, I thought I removed them all! Someone was very good at hiding an egg. well... it's ok they, are cute.... but this bin isn't ideal for babies and idk if it's safe to try to move them cuz i might crush them. It will be... interesting when they are bigger and living in a kitchen tupperwear lol. I might have to get another 10 gallon tank to just dump them all into.
so cute tho.... i love freshly hatched smokybrown nymphs <3 only sad I missed the hatching.
since becoming adults, spaghetti and meatballs are always fighting. but I've never seen angie engage, and when the other 2 are angry and walk up to angie, they will usually disengage once they realize it's angie.
Sometimes I'm like, is angie secretly a girl? but he has fuzzy antenna and definitely male pattern on butt underside. Is this just something that happens sometimes? I've also never heard him hiss ever, not as a baby or an adult, even when poked or startled.
I waited years to play it, only to put like 12 hours in and put it down for other things.
It's just so hard to start off, I can't find any materials to craft anything aside 1 teleporter and 1 refinery link. So the entire game is just running back and forth and back and forth and I can't even get the upgrades for my inventory/jetpack ect, bc it's all crafted unlike SR1 where it was purchased. unlike SR1, the area near the house is kind of...boring too. SR1 it felt like every tiny bit of land you found was a huge milestone, and there was tons to do really close to base so less running, and by the time you unlocked late game areas far away, you had memorized the map and tons of tech, But here not so much. Am I doing something wrong? I just want to get past the hurdle of having literally nothing and no way of crafting because I can't find materials reliably. I miss just tossing down those machines and mining them up. The material deposits are so hard to see, don't always spawn anything, and are so far apart from each other :(
over winter I was safe..........but now they are out and about. I just saw a smokybrown nymph while walking my dog and thought "oh your cute.... yoink" and grabbed it up like a candy in one swift motion. I don't know if this is some kind of skill I developed but It's at the point where I can grab them in a single motion so swiftly and firmly that they don't even try to struggle, then casually carry them home. I saw another one and then I was mad I only had 2 hands and I needed one to hold dog leash :(
I will name u... Jelly... and u are going to live with the females until U r big size. Jelly has currently buried himself in the dirt and hiding so no proper pictures yet. But I have offered bribery fish flakes, but here is jelly being gripped.
there is nothing I love more than watching roaches eat. here is Bean trying to steal Crinkles fish flake, while Big is unconcerned. I love when they run off holding food.
It's currently warm enough for smokybrowns outside to be active again and I'm really struggling to not grab more..... I don't need it. I don't need it. I have a breeding colony. (but ..........free roach....)

I love watching my babies (smokybrown nymphs) grow and finally come out from the pinecone they spent their first 4 months of life hiding in! watched these two "fight" for a while and got the perfect kick on video.
they seem to like the rim of the bin, probably because the roly poly can't get up there.
I feel like I need to cull the roly poly. they reproduce at a scary level. I caught 4 a year ago and it became like, 400, though they haven't eaten any roaches yet.
Hello vwb reddit! I'm wondering if anyone here can help me figure out what is wrong with my 2008 volkswagen new beetle s, automatic. I've been in and out of the mechanics multiple times a month for awhile now and no one can properly fix this issue. I'm really stressed out over it as I need my car for work and I'm tired of paying multiple diagnostic fees and then ubering home only for them to not figure anything out.
The car is old, 165k miles, put about 300miles on it a week. recently (few months ago) got hit in the front drivers side headlight area, which folded my secondary air injection system like a pretzel, but I was able to drive it to the mechanic, and other persons insurance covered it. I am not sure if it is related or not to this, but thought I'd mention it anyway as the issue started soon after.
The car idles very poorly, the engine feels like it's trying really hard then loosing power then repeating the cycle, very unstable, but in a way not super noticable if you arent familiar with the car. about 50% of the time when I put it in park it gets MUCH worse, with the car revving up to 1.3k rpm immedietly, and then the rev/loss of power cycle continues but so loud that I can hear it from across the parking lot. As far as I know, it will keep doing this indefinietly, but turning it off then back on stops it. When I turn off the car when it is acting up, I hear a knocking in the engine that sounds like something powering down. mechanic told me it's normal if your car cuts power at high rpm/pressure. It's much like a vacuum leak, but as far as I know, vacuum leaks are quite consistent. and mechanics haven't been able to find one.
at the last mechanic trip I replaced a PCV Diaphram and was told that it was causing the engine to build pressure, this made the issue slightly better but it's very much still there. (before this, the parked engine rpm would spike from 1.2-2k rpm instead of more stable 1-1.3)
Did i get a faulty part? Is there more going on?
I may also mention my transmission is slowly failing, but I don't know if that can cause engine issues. or if the engine issue is causing the transmission to have issues. when it shifts from gear 1 to 2, and back down, it's very shakey. It's kind of expected for the mileage though. I try to baby it, and if I feel the engine rev up too fast I let off the gas so it never revs anywhere near the red. I have no idea where to even go to service it so I suppose I'll take any recs for that too. But again I don't know how this would effect being in park, once I'm in the highest gear the car runs smooth like butter.
when i wasn't looking, bean molted to an adult, but hasn't seemed to have grown at all over the winter and seems to have skipped a few sub molts. She is so tiny! The smallest smokybrown I have yet to see!
Had to capture her because she grew up in the adult male bin and I don't want to have to dig up eggs in a 10 gallon tank, so she was moved to jail the smaller bin with the other female smokybrowns. Even smokybrown roaches give up when gripped firmly (but gently) it's funny. Figured I might as well take a picture, since I don't like to regularly hold these little guys. I imagine it's pretty scary for them.
Once bean is done freaking out from being moved in with the other girls, I will try to get a comparison pic of them standing side by side and put it in the comments for anyone who wants. It took me a few minutes to even realize she was an adult, only due to the wings, since she didn't change size at all.
