Want to move but all of my loved ones live in my current city

I am a single 23 yr old dude who lives in a city I DESPISE. Its ugly, the weather is awful (its a desert) and I struggle to enjoy any outdoor time due to the immense heat.

I want to move to a different city about 5 hours away which is much greener and has mountains and the kind of nature I love. The city is a little bit bigger too which would help with potential dating life. It seems like a no brainer but the problem is all of my family lives here.

I am quite close with my siblings and their children as well as my own parents. I often visit them multiple times a month. They have roots here so they arent leaving anytime soon. I dont have any real friends in this city so they are all I have honestly.

I want to live in a place where I can enjoy the outdoors and the city more but I dont know if its worth being all alone and missing my family.

A part of me feels like I need to get out of this shithole city and move where ill be happy but a part of me thinks its not worth distancing myself from my family who I am very close to.

What do I do? Move or dont move?

TL;DR - Do I move to a city I love away from a city I hate but all of my family lives here?

I want to move but all of my family and life is here

I live in BC Canada in a smaller city (100k people). I moved here for university and because my Sister lived here and my parents live close.

I graduated and have a great job here. Since its a corporate job I feel very lucky to not have a bad/draining job as I work in a small firm which is very fitting for work life balance.

This all sounds great but I absolutely hate the city. Its ugly, crime ridden and closed off. You would think in BC how could a city be ugly but it is... its a desert.. like actually 30-40degree summers ALL DAY EVERYDAY (some will probably guess it now). I hate the desert and everytime I travel to the island or to the forest areas (Kootnays etc) I fall in love with the nature and aesthetic. Also, the dating/social scene is quite poor here and im a young lonely dude who needs to get that part of my life off the tarmac.

I often think about moving to the island or somewhere better but Im always held back by the though that my family is here and everything ive known. I dont have many friends and I dont have any relationships that are very deep EXCEPT my family. Me and my sister are very close and we hang out all the time. I hate the thought of leaving but also I hate this city now.

I am just torn.. I dont think Ill leave because I love being near my family too much but I also feel like im not getting any younger and I dont want to waste away my life in a place that isnt conducive with finding a partner/meaningful relationship.

Another CON of moving is having to get another job which might be MUCH worse than what I have now.

I just dont know if the risk is worth it. But im also so scared to stay here and be alone forever in a city I despise

Ill likely delete this in a bit but I just needed to rant and id love ANY advice/stories of similar situations and what choice you made

Car Camping - Site Recommendations

Hey folks!

Im from Kamloops and Im doing a short 2-3 night camping excursion in Revelstoke later this month or maybe September and Im looking for some recommendations on where to camp.

I will be camping in my car (its setup for it) and I do not need any kind of hookup. I just simply need a place to park the car and sleep.

I would prefer closer to town but im not too picky. Id prefer to not spend a ton of money too because like I said I just need a place to park and sleep.

Id love any tips or advice/recommendations!

Also as a fellow BC resident I understand the devastation the forest fires have had on us and trust me I will not be using fire in any way. The LAST thing I want to see is another beautiful part of BC burned down.

Thanks guys

CPA PERT (CAN) - Enabling Competencies Help

I am doing my first report (PPR). I have heard conflicting advice on whether to leave everything as level 0 on my first report or to fill in some Level 1's.

I have been working at my firm for 2 years and have done 3 tax seasons so I believe I am level 1 for both Tax competencies. Therefore, I put level 1 for both but some people say they wont accept that as a first report?

Also, I am going to do a prior experience report after this one but I am so confused on how to do that when you cant go backwards on future reports. For example, if I put tax level 1 on this report and then on my prior report i do tax level 0, they wont allow that. But then how do i report prior experience?

Last, enabling competencies: I am confused on the level of detail they want and how to know if my examples are good. My example for communication was going to be the correspondance I had with a new business owner during last tax season where I had to explain some vehicle expenses to them including the fact interest on vehicle loans can be deducted (partially ofc). But is this example good enough? I had to dumb down he language because they were a new owner and therefore that seems to meet the question posed by CPA stating "describe a time where you adapted communication to meet the needs of a specific audience..."

Sorry for the wall of messy text - im in a rush today but I wanted to get this out

Core 1 Exam - Are people exaggerating the MCQ??

I am studying for Core 1 Exam in 3 days and currently I am tackling the MCQ from the retired set given to us. This set was in a prior exam and so I cant imagine my exam MCQ to be much more difficult.

That being said. This MCQ retired set is quite basic. Only a few questions are taking a long time (more than 1-2 min) due to being wordy but most are quick simple answers that should be intuitive or basic knowledge from undergrad. I attempted them all in under 2 hours and got 80% without doing any prior MCQ work just simply from the weekly assignments and quizzes.

However, everytime i see a core 1 thread its people saying "i guessed on 50% of mcq" or "the mcq will bury you"

Is the retired set we were given just a lucky easy set? Should I be more concerned than I really am? I have done ALOT of case work but not much MCQ and so I thought to spend my next 2 days doing MCQ but now I dont know what else to do for MCQ because the retired set was quite simple relative to everyones feedback on prior exams.

Am i crazy or just ran into a lucky set?

CPA Core 1 - June 30 - Advice needed

I am writing Core 1 in a week from tomorrow and kinda starting to freak out.

I am grinding every day after work trying to get better at cases and knowing where to go in Knotia but everytime I study I find more things that im not good enough in technically or that I have never written a case on since it wasnt on any retired cases or practice cases.

I feel like the information I know is not enough to even remotely pass unless they bless us with some easy AO's like Leases, Rev rec etc.

If they hit me with some Niche topic like Joint Arrangement or something of that nature i might be cooked.

I could really use some advice on how to study for this remaining week I have left.

I get RC's and C's on my practice cases but I feel like those are not good indicators of how the exam will be since the practice case has yet to throw a real curveball at us.

Also the MCQs..... I dont even know where to start besides the retired set..

How do people do this.

CPA Core 1 Tips (Canada)

Hello,

I am currently 2.5 weeks into Core 1 of the CPA program here in Canada. I find myself stretched for time often (as is everyone) and was hoping to get some tips to help maximize my time.

Currently my schedule is as follows:

Monday - 1-2 hours of ebook reading of the starred chapters and then attempting the MCQ's (knowledge checks)

Tuesday - 1-3 hours of ebook and then do the weekly quiz. I will debrief the quiz after too and find out where I went wrong.

Wednesday - 2-4 hours of doing the Integrated Problem for the week.

Thursday - 1-2 hours of doing the Practice Case for the week

Friday - I do nothing. This is my rest day.

Saturday - 3-5 hours of debriefing prior weeks Integrated Problem and Case

Sunday - 2-4 hours of ebook for the next week to get "ahead" and I have recently begun finding all the units in the Knotia handbook so that if I dont know what im doing on the exam I can at least copy paste and throw shit at the wall for a potential RC..

So far: My IP's and Cases are going okay. I get mainly RC's and C's with a couple NC's. However, last weeks case made me go over time because I simply got confused with what the FR issue was trying to say (it was revenue but i overthought it and thought it was financial instrument recognition...)

My main concern is that all of this ebook time would be better spent somewhere else. But the ebook also gives tangible results in terms of knowledge checks. I know I should start doing the retired exam cases and debrief those as well but I simply havent. Maybe Sundays I should devote to Retired cases?

If you have passes Core 1 could you give me some tips and things to avoid or things to stress over so I can maximize my time. I am not feeling burnt out yet but I do feel constant stress that I wont be prepared come exam time.
