[Gen IX] Been hunting these two on and off for months using Masuda, was way over odds on both. Then finally hatched both the same day 😁
What other Pokemon have 3 competitively viable abilities? [Skill Improvement]
Genuine question: what are people doing to hit usage limits on 20x max?
I’m on the pro plan and, while I do hit my usage limits regularly, it’s more than enough to do all the work I want. I can’t possibly imagine what I’d need 20x my current usage for. Are folks out there having Fable one-shot a new project every 5 hours? Even that doesn’t feel like it’d need so many tokens. Not trying to throw shade just genuinely curious what sort of workflows are so token-intensive.
Who is the most generally athletic video game protagonist?
Taking into account fitness, training, endurance, etc. Canonically in lore and/or actual abilities as a playable character. The ones in the post were just the first ones to come to mind for me. Not necessarily out of these, just overall.
Hyperion sheet music?
Has anyone been able to find piano/organ sheet music for the Ascend the Spire/Hyperion scores? I absolutely adore that boss battle and want to learn to play at least some portion of the incredible music (obviously the more electronic/dubsteppy parts will need to be cut) but I haven’t been able to find anything. Does anyone know if that sheet music exists, or even if someone figured out how to play it by ear? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
[Gen 9] This should be a valid for Masuda Method, right? Been at it for weeks with no luck
Trying to hunt both at once. Both of the females are English, Ditto is German.
I’ll be honest I didn’t know this interaction was possible
[Skill Improvement/Metagame] Update on k2dex (the physics-inspired teambuilding tool)
Last week I posted about k2dex, a teambuilding tool I built using principles from statistical physics. You all gave some great feedback, so I just wanted to post an update with some of the improvements I've been working on to make k2dex even more useful! I've also created a dedicated Discord server for discussion, feedback, bug reporting, etc, and to hopefully create a community of people who find the tools useful and/or are interested in looking at and discussing VGC through a more technical, mathematical lens. Subreddit rules prevent me from sharing the discord link here Edit: mod said it's fine: https://discord.gg/8xNjyn9yVP
Significant improvements:
- Import and export using pokepastes: makes going back and forth between showdown and k2dex much easier
- Sharable links: if you want to show someone an analysis or completion result, you can now just directly send them the url of the page. Previously they would need to re-input all the same information you did.
- Item sprites: Nicer to look at, more information in a glance
- Expanded models: I've ingested even more tournament data, so the models should be even more knowledgeable, especially for lower-usage mons. I've also re-tuned the default settings to give better results. Currently working on incorporating Indianapolis Regional data as well.
- Various other tweaks and improvements to make the site clearer and easier to use.
I used statistical physics to analyze the Reg M-A metagame, and turned the result into a team building tool
I’m a former software engineer and current master’s student studying complex systems, and I decided to apply some ideas and techniques borrowed from statistical physics and publicly available Limitless tournament data to build a mathematical model of the current metagame that actually understands synergy, roles, etc.
The result is actually extremely promising! For example, it figured out on its own that it's certainly fine to put Mega Charizard and Mega Aerodactyl on the same team, but not Mega Charizard and Mega Froslass. It also passes every scientific validation test I throw at it, and I’m planning on writing it up as a research paper soon. I also polished it all up and turned it into a team building tool that you can try for yourself at https://kylehtunis.github.io/k2dex
There are 3 main tools: a team completer that can be used to fill out a partial team or build one from scratch, a team analyzer that can break down your team synergy, suggest swaps, etc, and a meta breakdown that shows how the model sees the current metagame.
An example of how you can use the site: if you want to build a team around Tyranitar and Excadrill, you can put Tyranitar @ Tyranitarite and Excadrill @ Focus Sash in the starting roster of the team completer, and the model will give 10 ways of filling out the team with several different scores for each. You can find one you like and send it to the Analysis section to see top suggested variants and pairwise team synergy, or add a third Pokemon to your starting roster and re-run.
Right now the model limited to understanding teams on a Pokemon @ Item level only (with an option to disregard items), so abilities, moves, natures, etc aren’t represented here, but potentially could be in the future. The combinatorial explosion of Pokemon teams really is absurd, so each new dimension to be added is exponentially more complicated. Also, it currently only knows about Pokemon/Item combinations that show up >=5 times in the real tournament data, so sorry to all you Furfrou @ Beedrillite fans, you'll have to rely on the in-game autocomplete for that.
There’s also a dedicated page that explains how all the science works with interactive simulations, if you’re curious and/or mathematically inclined. The code is also all publicly available on Github.
Anyway, hope you find this interesting and find some usefulness from it, this has been a bit of a passion project for me recently so it feels good to finally put it out into the world. Please don’t hesitate to drop a comment if you have any questions or suggestions!
Even funnier when it’s just holding a mega stone but its partner already mega’ed
She would have spent years alone in space on the loneliest journey in human history, arrived on a new alien planet with a near-zero chance for survival, and then the rescue mission shows up before she has a chance to change out of her space suit
