I noted down all the worst misogynistic quotes from Hindu scriptures.

Yes, these are just the worst ones, the list goes longer.

[Looks like I accidentally omitted it while pasting, but "He" referred to Shiva in the last verse. And the verse goes on to describe the event vividly including stating that he ejaculates in her. ]

What to do to get out of an abusive situation?

My(18f) mother has been very abusive to me physically, mentally and verbally. My father once hit my head 15 times continuously while my mother held me down. My mother has given me death threats(including saying she should've committed infanticide when she had me), threats to get me married, threats to disown me and what not.

I am in 2nd year uni. I have a long schedule, 8-7 sometimes. And I travel for around 3 hours. I come home around 8:45 after that I talk to my partner or study, both of these are non-negotiables for me. My parents aren't encouraging about me studying till 12. Yesterday I was awake around 11:20 pm. They came into my room and started yelling at me for not sleeping. I do not engage when they yell because I know pushing back only makes things worse for me.

My mother started commenting on my hair (I recently got a boyish cut p.s: the barber messed up), and that I look drunk (I don't drink) and that I do not behave like a woman. She called me a wh0re multiple times, slapped me, and taunted me with belt in her hand, threw around my bag, took out a bra that was lying around and asked me "What the f*ck is this?" multiple times. I know she only refrained herself from beating the hell out of me because I already complained about being abused to my college counsellor. Nothing changed afterall. She said she doesn't want me to study, said she should've put me in a government school and married me off by now. I'm 18 for f*cks sake woman.

They don't know about my relationship yet, they've been desperately trying to find out. My mother said she'll honour kill me if she finds out anything. She's psychotic and she might actually do that. I'm genuinely at loss. I hate it here and I want to feel safe for once.

I tried getting jobs so I can move into a cheap PG, but had no luck so far. Any job advices or support is welcome.

My mother desperately wanted/wants a son?

For context, I'm 18F and I have a sister who is 17. My mother cried when she gave birth to my sister because she expected it to be a boy. She made our life hell. She is very abusive, manipulative, self-victimising, paranoid and what not. She thinks I do not deserve some things just because I'm a woman (including very subtle things like asking me to not sit at a bigger plate because it meant for my father).

In the last couple of months, we fought several times during which she mentioned that she hasn't gotten her tubes tied yet because she hopes she would get a son. She is about 45. She has gotten abortion at least four times since my sister was born. They don't even pay my college fees, didn't pay for my high school, refuse to even give me enough pocket money. So in a nutshell they absolutely cannot afford another child.

So my question is what is this obsession? This only makes me more disgusted with her. She was hoping to gain my sympathy by saying she couldn't have a boy child. OMG.

Planning to move out of an abusive and religious household

Planning to move out of a physically abusive and very repressive household. They also threatened to kill me if they ever come to know I'm in a relationship. I AM in a relationship. I'm doing a Bachelor's Degree and the fee is in loan. I live in India and I managed to locate a very cheap PG, about $75 per month for both accomodation and food. But I am struggling so much to get a job. I sent out over a hundred applications for part-time remote jobs but didn't hear back from anyone. My college's work day is about 9 hours, so I can work about 4 hours a day. I just need a job.

I tried talking to a counsellor from my college, she wasn't very helpful. She said, "They beat you because you provoke them." They beat me since I was a kid.

It feels like I've been walking into dead ends in a maze, I really just need an out.

Sorry for my poor english, I am not a native speaker.

I cannot verify my ID because of a suspension on my account.

Just starting freelancing on upwork. I cannot verify my ID because of a suspension on my account, but the suspension apparently can only be lifted after I verify my ID. I contacted the support multiple times, they reply to my ticket with the same automated message insisting me to verify ID. What do I do?

How can I shift to hostel as a dayscholar (preferably a way that'd work regardless of what my parents say)?

In a nutshell, my parents are super abusive. They threaten to kill me and stop my education. So I really want a way I could continue my education safely without their aid. I know it's probably too much to ask for, esp with VIT, but I'm honestly in the dark here and i NEED a way out.

My tuition fees is in education loan currently and I want to add hostel and some kinda allowance so I could break-free from my parents. I checked the loan details, I can modify the loan amount without a co-borrower. But my parents will refuse to sign in conversion forms and such.

Is there anyone I can approach? A student counsellor or student welfare?

Any sensible response would be a huge help, thank you.

Need help with an abusive situation. Government organisation made the situation worse.

18f. Long story short, my parents are abusive and gave me death threats in the past. I called the women's helpline(181) yesterday. They called me and my parents for a negotiation today.

We went there and they talked to me and my parents seperately and decided I'm the one at wrong because I do not 'obey' my parents. My college fees is in education loan, the woman who was supposed to help me straight up said discontinue her education and marry her off to someone. She said it again and again, I kept saying that she is not the one to decide that and I will continue my education. She told my father not to sign in bank as the co-borrower.

I'm at loss. I want to continue my education. And I don't want it to depend on my parents especially after all of this. I'm so afraid they'll stop my education. I really need some sort of advice/help, honestly practical solutions. The bank demands parents to sign as co-borrowers. My tuition fees is due in a week.

I need advice on who I could seek, what I could do to modify my loan to fit my hostel and other expenses and to get out of the house.

Feel free to check out my previous post, there I explained in detail about my parents.

Thank you in advance for anyone who could help, it means a lot.

Abusive household. What to do?

18f. My mom has been abusive to me physically and mentally throughout my childhood. Now I'm in uni, physical abuse has gone down by a lot but I'm still abused emotionally. My father, he's misogynistic but still better than my mother somehow.

A couple days ago, I got caught using phone under sheets. We had a fight that eventually led to me giving up my phone for the night. Yesterday my father asked me to hand it over at 10:30, I refused and said I'll keep it away when I go to sleep, things went south from there. He snapped at the moment I said he shouldn't expect me to like him. (My mom literally said she should've infanticided me when I studied with friends one sunday, my father justified her. So please don't defend them in the comments.)

He slapped me. I tried to stop him with my hands. My mom walked in and she kept saying, "How dare you raise hands at a man". My father kept hitting my head. Right side of my head still feels sore and tender to touch, I couldn't sleep on it. My left cheek feels sore, my braces probably tore the insides when he slapped me. He held my legs together when I tried to kick him out of self defence. I kept saying "Don't touch me." He just hit me harder. When I tried to sleep at night all I could think about was how it felt like I was being molested.

He told me to get out of the house. I didn't. It was late and I knew I'll have to deal with a lot of creepy men and I didn't have anywhere to go.

A couple of hours later he came in and hugged me, he was crying. I could say he genuinely feels guilty but the damage is done. I'm so scared of him.

I know I cannot stay here on the long run. I finished first year college. My college is tier-1ish private one, it's in my city. I fucked JEE and my dad said he wouldn't pay for hostels. So there was no other option but to go there.

I'm financially dependent on them, except my college fees is on education loan. I think I can ask the bank if they can include hostel fees too from this year. But my college packages aren't that exciting and I'll have a humongous load on my head when I finish college. It's already almost 20L.

I need advice. I feel very helpless and I hate it.

I've seen many men online call women "females", i honestly don't know if they realise how dehumanizing that term is.

A FEMALE CAN BE ANYTHING FROM A PLANT TO A PERSON FOR GOD'S SAKE.

Is it their way of reducing women to their reproductive functions?

I also feel squeamish about "lady", esp cuz it's often accompanied with gents (gentleman). Why such a literary gap between what both mean?

Also considering it's use primarily dates back to the time when it was divided as gentlemen, ladies and peasants, ladies in many cases is/could be mistaken for a condescending term.

So, just call us women.

And no, you can't call an adult woman girl too. It is infantilizing.
