Souvenirs

During a recent trip, I scored a couple of bottles that I can’t get where I live. I can’t wait to try them in some drinks, especially the 151 to see if I can replicate some False Idols recipes.

Kirkland rum

I spotted this rum from Panama at Costco today. Anyone know what it really is or what it’s like?

Rum in Omaha, NE?

I'll be visiting Omaha this weekend for Oktoberfest and of course a visit to Laka Lono. Do any liquor stores there have a good rum selection?

Need help preventing blisters

Can anyone recommend a particular tape to put on the backs of my heels to prevent blisters? There are so many on the market that it’s hard to know which one to choose. (And yes, I realize better fitting boots are the best solution, but I have a novel foot size and shape, and I’ve tried dozens of boots without any luck).

Sumac Street - Yum!

A Syrian immigrant I recently met recommend Sumac Street, located at Mississippi and Parker, for authentic Syrian food. The sign says it’s Lebanese food, but whatever. The two are from obviously similar enough. I tried it for dinner and it was absolutely fantastic. I wish I lived closer to it because it would definitely be my go-to.

Finally got a nugget ice maker

Since my fridge makes crushed ice, I’ve resisted buying a nugget ice maker, but I finally pulled the trigger now that GE sells a mini Opal. Two drinks later, I can’t believe I lived without nugget ice at home for so long. I got the cheapest version I could find, which is sold by Walmart for $279. Even this bare bones model is a massive upgrade over crushed ice. No more clogged straws!!!

Is this stuff supposed to be here?

I had a terrific daiquiri made with Saint Benevolence Mango Clairin at a bar today, so I picked up a bottle on the way home. Then I noticed all this debris floating around in it. Is this normal?

Excessive packaging

This medication comes in a 3-pack and this is how much is in each container. A single container could easily hold 10x more capsules.

Topology vs network dataset to check for errors?

First of all, I know very little about GIS. I used it extensively about 18 years ago, but I haven't used it since then. I need help assessing a dispute between two GIS Specialists at an emergency response organization. They both do data loads for maps that help first responders navigate to locations of emergencies in a large metro area. One of them uses topology to check his work for errors. The other uses a network dataset instead. The one who uses topology claims that his method is more accurate because using a network dataset allows more errors to slip through. They're the only two people in the organization with GIS expertise, so there's no one internal who can assess this dispute. I'm hoping someone here can help me, or at least get me pointed in the right direction. TIA.

Currency issued in Philippines

My wife found this while helping her aging grandmother clean out her basement. I had never seen one before. It was issued during the Japanese occupation of the Philippines, and was widely referred to as Mickey Mouse money.

Rum shopping in Indianapolis?

Any recommendations for liquor stores in Indianapolis with good rum selections? When I travel, I always like to see if I can find something that I can't get at home.
