Hozelock sprayer busted

Don't buy this brand!

Bought this just two months ago. I'm assuming it's not fixable.

Absolutely horrendous build quality, I'm particularly annoyed as it wasn't cheap. You can see as well the pipe is already falling to bits.

I've dropped this once, and that was onto my lawn from a height of less than a metre.

Bathroom remodeling

We're expecting our first child soon so we had our very tired and old bathroom redone.

It had two layers of tiles, knackered flooring, vanity unit and bathtub falling apart etc etc. It was desperate.

Goal was something calming, but with soft colour tones and a warm natural feel. I believe I've achieved that!

I supplied the suite, vanity, tiles and taps/shower. Plumbers helped with the rip out and fitted everything, I then did the decorating.

Tiles are terrazo effect porcelain, around the bath they're fluted. Sink is real terazzo and vanity etc are solid Acacia wood, I installed motion lighting inside which is handy.

Sill is a solid marble offcut from a kitchen supplier in Sussex. It's a soft olive on the walls and ceiling, the matching toilet roll holder and dispenser etc came from Next.

Down on the south coast of England I paid £9.5k labour and £4k parts.

Really pleased with the end result and hope this helps anyone looking for inspiration and ideas.

Ok ok, I get it now

Alright admittedly I used to see the posts here and scoff. What a load of moaning minnies! Blergh, just get a fan and get on with it!

But yeah I'm totally done with this heat now. I'm done going for a nice stroll and coming home and sweating like a pig in a bacon factory.

I'm one of you now.

Hope y'all will accept me.

Partner let slip name to a mate

I'm not really looking for advice: I don't think there's anything I can do, but I feel annoyed and I think I just need to get it out of my system.

My partner has given away our unborn daughter's name to a mate. It was important to me we didn't before birth and that family would know first.

It's just... I don't have much control as a father. It was one small thing that meant something to me, especially as I'd chosen the name.

I'm sure I'll get over it...tell me I'm overreacting and being a silly moo. Just, ugh.

On the beach dilemma

Me and my partner bought tickets to both Fatboy Slim and the Maccabees... but now she's pregnant. She will be around 30 weeks.

We've never been before and we're wondering if the event will be alright for her to attend. I cannot get any information whatsoever from the event organisers: and also wondering if we're allowed to bring foldable chairs. Have no idea whether to expect an almighty crowded piss up or a more chilled out affair: really I think all we need is space and the ability to make a quick exit. We don't drink so we just wanted to go for the music anyway.

Honestly I think I know the answer but if anyone has been before and knows better that would be helpful. We spent over £200 on the tickets so don't want to assume...

Thanks

Gym after birth

Hi folks. I am a regular gym goer and I'm aware after the birth of our baby I will probably not be able to go as frequently. The good thing is my gym has a café and soft play right next door, so when she's older it'll be a great morning out.

I just wondered how others managed to keep up with the gym with a newborn. Going to the gym is more important for my mental health than my physical: it keeps my moods in check and helps me feel happier. I definitely worry about not being able to go and these things getting worse.

Of course, baby comes first always, as does my partner - but I also want to make sure I'm my best version for them.

Any thoughts or advice would be great - I also felt it's an interesting conversation piece and maybe something other Dad's to be are thinking about.

Bathroom radiator sizing help

Hi! We currently have a K2 radiator in our bathroom as part of our heat pump system.

We're slowly replacing our radiators as they were very old. In the bedrooms this has been easy, we simply replaced with new ones that are the same size and same K1/K2 spec etc.

In the bathroom, this is proving more tricky.

We have a large window and a heat loss of 636w. We'd also like a towel rail style radiator: as having a large K2 in the bathroom is not ideal. K2 radiators are also not well suited to wet environments it seems, it's starting to rust after just two years.

The problem is that finding a towel radiator that puts out enough heat is proving tricky. Closest I've found puts out ~400w, is enormous, and costs a small fortune (£500!)

  • Any suggestions for a towel radiator suitable would be amazing
  • Advice on the implications of a radiator that only manages half the output: will out bathroom just be a little colder, or is efficiency going to take a big hit
  • Any other creative ideas

Thank you

Today we found out we're going to have a little girl.

Our 20 week scan was a mesmerising experience, I even saw her whole face briefly, and we could see her adorable button nose and mouth.

She is in the 18th percentile for her size, so she's a little thing, but she's healthy.

I honestly can't express my emotions right now.

I just wanted to share this.

How deep do these concrete fence post spurs go?

The amount of concrete in the base is extraordinary - I've measured 16 inches of concrete on one side alone. To compound my misery there is a concrete path along side and a small tree with thick roots. Oh and the soil is mostly rubble and flint.

I just want to know when this will end. You can see about ten inches deep and my SDS is going in about another four inches. About 90cm of post has been dug out.

I have some pretty big gaps here to fill. Will caulking be adequate or do I need to shove some filler in there?

Related: Trims are quite shabby but I can't figure out if they're easily removed, and don't want to break them off and give myself a headache. How easily should they pop off?

Thanks gang
