I worked as an account executive for 2 weeks and let me tell you that it freaking sucks. First week was them training me and learning the pitch. Im not going to lie, learning the pitch was a bit hard in the first week. I finally got out on the field the week after and I made 0 sales.
I remember on my second round interview I asked the guy interviewing me if I don’t make sales will I get fired, he said no and I believed him. I genuinely thought they wouldn’t fire me because it’s literally my first (and last) week out on the field and I’m still getting the pitch trying to get people to donate. I got fired because my performance was too low and to them it seemed like I wasn’t fully feeling it. I was still learning everything and getting used to the pitch and they expected me to learn everything in the span of 2 weeks. They also mentioned that new people gets promoted in the span of 2-4 weeks, like HOW?? They’re still new trying to learn everything as well, why not wait until they learn everything and get used to the company after a couple months like every other business?
The job is literally being those pesky sales people on the side of the street trying to make you buy something. I was (still is) new to this whole sales thing.
