Old-school P229r .40 with Legion G10 Grips

Put a pair of Hogue G10 Legion grips (with SIG medallions) on my old P229r. I think it really classes it up, plus they are way more comfortable than the stock plastic.

Standard Products M1 Carbine

Got this as a birthday gift to myself. It had all the features I wanted: metal looked pretty good to me, no import mark, type 2 barrel band, type 3 sights, and push button safety.

Something that is interesting is the stock: for one, the upper handguard has no groove. Second, it seems like someone was trying to carve all over the grip area. In any case, unless someone tells me I stumbled upon some unique stock, I'll probably look at replacing it. I'm betting someone sanded down the whole handguard to the depth of the groove.

6x on 1 minute-to-expiration SPX 7390 puts.

The beauty of SPX is they are cash settled so you can trade until the last moment of expiration. Got these with less than a minute left and SPX closed 6.2 points ITM, so they will settle tonight for almost 6x.

5.5x $780>$4294 on SPX 7545c 0DTE

I didn't think the red candle would hold at open so I bought calls for overnight highs expecting that SPX would not breach this week's low, especially after it bounced last night.

Got lucky that the move happened all at once with peace deal news

$1740 to $24000 on SPX 7380 0DTE calls

I had an order for 7380 calls on SPX if ES took out overnight lows. I was 100% gambling on the low possibility of a close around 7400 on SPX. I got super lucky with an instant 50 point candle right after that hit my limit order of 20.

P365 X-Macro AXG Comp vs. Non-Comp (my experience)

A few weeks ago I asked if anyone had tried a non-comped slide on the AXG frame and only a couple people had. I felt like the frame made a big difference in recoil control with the comped slide compared to the polymer frame, so I was curious how it felt with the 3.7" barrel and no comp.

Well I finally had the chance to try them head to head and I can definitively say the comp does make a difference. Across all rounds I tested, the comped slide was flatter, I had better accuracy, and faster recovery.

With the non-comped slide, I would say I had about twice as much muzzle rise. This is not to say it was a lot, it is more a testament to how flat the comped slide was. The non-comp felt pretty similar to a Glock 19. The amount of shock I felt in my hands was about the same, the difference was all in how much the muzzle climbed with each shot.

I could make no discernable difference in terms of noise, because both are loud, but I will say the comped slide can produce more smoke in front of your face depending on which round you are using. Again, it isn't a lot more, but it is apparent.

So which one would I choose? For me, the comp gives me more confidence and it has been consistently my fastest and most accurate setup amongst anything else I have ever shot. With my choice of ammo, HST 124gr +P, the difference in velocity is less than 20 FPS or 10 ft/lb of energy, so the trade off of velocity to recoil favors the comp. If I were using something like 115gr XTP, where the extra velocity may matter to the bullet design, I would probably use the longer barrel.

Ammo I tested was:

* Federal HST 124gr +P

* Hornady XTP 115gr +P

* Magtech 124gr

* PMC 124gr

One last thing: I would say the AXG frame makes a bigger difference than the slide comp in terms of recoil mitigation. It is only a few ounces more but the extra weight and extra texturing seem to transfer less shock and keep the gun from shifting in my hands. Next time I get an opportunity, I'll see if I can record a head to head comparison of the slide comp, Radian comp, and no comp. I previously tried the slide comp vs. Radian and found very minor difference.

$100k in options and futures this month

Got a huge boost last Wednesday with a $6k to $60k play in SPX calls, then another good hit this morning with NVDA 220 calls. Futures have all been NQ.

u/USSZim — 2 months ago

$15k in 15 mins with NQ futures and NVDA 220c 5/11

Was anticipating NVDA to go for all time highs again so I bought 220 calls right at open. Took profits on the opening green candle. Since NVDA leads NQ, I also took a couple longs on futures with 5 NQ.

Colt 1911 and S&W 1917: Back-to-Back World War Champs

Two days ago, I had no .45 pistols. Today, I have two. The first is a Colt "Black Army" 1911 refinished for WW2. The second is a 1937 Brazilian contract S&W M1917 revolver.

I feel like I got good deals on both, the 1911 was $1400 and the 1917 was $550.

Colt "Black Army" 1911

Got my first 1911 today for $1400, a Colt 1911 "Black Army" that has been arsenal refinished. Only thing it needs is a front sight, which my LGS is sourcing and will install as part of the purchase.

Bought 20 of these SPX 7300 5/6 calls yesterday right after close for 3.2 each. Sold them today for 29.4 and 35 this morning.

I was initially in 7220 5/6 puts yesterday from the prior high, but flipped into calls since we were closing at the edge of new highs, the lower gap seemed too obvious, and WSB was bearish.

So the P365 AXG Legion is coming to California, but the bigger news to me is they are finally making it available with the manual safety (the MS in the SKU). I have been wanting this for awhile, so hopefully the standalone module is coming soon. The same thing is happening with the .380 Luxe model.
