What's the most annoying or confusing part of the tools you currently use for product research?

Curious to hear from both newer and more experienced sellers on this - whatever tool(s) you're using right now for product research/validation, what actually bugs you about it?

Some angles I'm curious about:

  • Is there a metric or score it gives you that you don't fully trust or don't really understand?
  • Does it take too long to get an answer, or require too many steps to check one product?
  • Is there something it doesn't tell you that you wish it did, so you end up checking somewhere else too?
  • For newer sellers -was there a moment a tool's output confused you or gave you false confidence in something that didn't pan out?

Not fishing for a specific tool to bash, genuinely just trying to understand where the gaps are across the board. Appreciate any real examples people are willing to share.

Looking for feedback from experienced PL sellers on how you validate a product idea before committing

I've been working on tightening up my own product validation process and I'm curious how other experienced private label sellers here actually do it in practice - not the textbook version, the real one.

A few things I'd love input on:

  1. What's the first thing that makes you walk away from an idea, before you even get deep into research?
  2. Do you have a repeatable checklist/process, or is it more gut feel at this point?
  3. What's a mistake you made early on that you'd tell a newer seller to avoid?

Not trying to sell anything here, genuinely just trying to learn from people who've been through more launches than I have. Happy to share what my own process looks like too if it's useful to anyone starting out. Appreciate any thoughts you're willing to share in the comments.

I built a tool that gives Amazon sellers a plain-English verdict on product ideas (VerdictLaunch)

Hi all,

I’ve been working on a project called VerdictLaunch (verdictlaunch).

By background I’m a DevOps engineer (8+ years in cloud infrastructure), and I kept seeing the same problem with Amazon sellers: weeks in Helium 10 / Jungle Scout dashboards, staring at 50+ metrics, and still not sure if a product idea is actually worth launching.

VerdictLaunch takes a product idea and, in about 60 seconds, gives you:

  • A plain‑English verdict: Go, Pivot, or No‑Go
  • The reasoning behind that verdict
  • If it’s a Go, a basic differentiation playbook and launch roadmap

Transparency note: it’s free to try right now, no signup wall, no affiliate or commission angle. I’m just looking for honest feedback from real sellers on two things:

  1. Do the verdicts line up with your own gut instinct?
  2. Is the explanation detailed enough for you to actually trust the call?

If you’re selling (or planning to) on Amazon, I’d really appreciate your thoughts. Happy to answer any questions in the comments.

VerdictLaunch - plain-English Go/Pivot/Walk-Away verdicts for Amazon FBA sellers

Hi Everyone,

We recently launched VerdictLaunch, a web app for Amazon FBA sellers, and we'd really appreciate some honest feedback.

The app takes a product idea and gives a plain-English verdict — Promising, Needs caution, or Not worth pursuing — plus the reasoning behind it, so sellers aren't stuck staring at raw data dashboards trying to decide if a product's worth launching. If it's a Go, it also builds a differentiation playbook and launch roadmap.

I'm looking for feedback on things like:

  • Does the verdict match your own gut instinct on a product?
  • Is the reasoning clear enough to actually trust the call?
  • UI/UX, bugs, anything confusing or unnecessary
  • Suggestions if any

We'd really appreciate any feedback, whether it's positive or critical. Thanks for taking a look!

VerdictLaunch - plain-English Go/Pivot/Walk-Away verdicts for Amazon FBA sellers

Most new Amazon sellers don't fail for lack of data - they fail because they're staring at Helium 10/Jungle Scout dashboards full of numbers and still can't tell if a product idea is actually worth pursuing.

VerdictLaunch takes a product idea and gives a plain-English read in about 60 seconds: Promising, Needs caution, or Not worth pursuing - plus the reasoning behind it, not just a score. If it's a Go, it also builds out a differentiation playbook (design, packaging, pricing, positioning) and a phased launch roadmap.

Built for the stage before the advanced seller suites - the decision moment, not another metrics dashboard.

Free to start, currently in beta. Would love feedback from anyone who's done Amazon product research before:

  • Does the verdict match your own gut instinct on a product?
  • Does the "why" behind it feel like enough to actually trust the call?

How are you getting your SaaS noticed without getting shadow-banned or removed?

I'm in that frustrating phase where I've built something I genuinely think could help people, but I'm hitting walls everywhere I try to share it.

Reddit and Facebook groups remove posts that even mention a tool-even when I'm offering free access and asking for feedback, not selling anything. Amazon forums removed my post for "promotion." Hacker News and Indie Hackers have new-account restrictions that make posting difficult.

I'm not trying to spam-I genuinely want feedback from people who would actually use the product.

For those of you who've launched something recently:

  • What platforms actually worked for getting initial feedback without getting flagged?
  • How did you frame your ask so it didn't sound like a promo?
  • Any creative approaches you used to get in front of your target audience without running into moderation walls?

Just trying to find the right signal in all the noise.

Stop staring at 50 FBA metrics - get a Go/Pivot/Walk-Away verdict in 60 seconds

I kept seeing the same problem: new Amazon FBA sellers spend weeks in spreadsheets and dashboards, staring at 50+ metrics, and still don't know if a product is actually worth launching.

So I built VerdictLaunch.

You plug in a product idea, and it turns all the market data into a simple verdict in about 60 seconds:

  • Promising – worth a closer look
  • Needs caution – there's potential, but check the risks first
  • Not worth pursuing – better to pass and move on

Instead of just dumping more charts, it explains why it picked that verdict so you can decide what to do next.

It's currently in beta with invite-only access - drop a comment or DM me and I'll get you in.

I'm looking for early users (especially Amazon sellers or people thinking about FBA) to try it and tell me:

  • Do these verdicts line up with your own intuition?
  • What extra info would you want to see before trusting the verdict?

You can check it out here: verdictlaunch.com

Happy to answer any questions or feedback in the comments.

Has anyone else felt like there's too much data and not enough clarity?

I see so many sellers jumping between Jungle Scout, Helium 10, Keepa, and spreadsheets - and still not knowing if a product is actually worth launching.

What would make the research process easier for you? A clearer signal? Someone to interpret the numbers? Something else?

Quick question for the group - who's currently stuck in product research?

I've been talking to a lot of sellers who spend weeks analyzing products and still aren't sure if they should pull the trigger. They have data, but they're not confident in what it means.

What's the one thing that keeps you from deciding? Too many options? Not sure which metrics matter? Just feels like a gamble?

Curious to hear where others are getting stuck.

I built ScoutsIQ — an AI-powered tool that helps Amazon sellers find products without the analysis paralysis

Hey everyone 👋

I've been working on a side project called ScoutsIQ for the past few months. It's an AI-powered product research tool for Amazon FBA sellers.

The problem I kept seeing: new sellers spend weeks researching products, staring at dashboards full of numbers, and still don't know if they should actually launch.

So I built a tool that gives you a plain‑English verdict on any product idea in about 60 seconds — Promising, Workable with a twist, or Better to keep looking — plus why.

What it does:

  • Quick Scan — enter a keyword or ASIN, get a clear verdict
  • Product Detail — see market context, margins, risks, and differentiation ideas
  • Deep Dive — unlock full opportunity cards, buyer segments, and failure modes
  • Product Journey — follow a guided path from sourcing to listing to launch

I'm looking for early testers to try it out and give honest feedback (the brutally honest kind).

In exchange, you get free lifetime access to the tool. No credit card, no commitment — just real feedback.

If you're interested, comment or DM me. Happy to answer any questions about the journey.
