Following our discussion on framing under fire, a member of our craft offered a critical distinction that clarifies how we maintain this community. We’ve been discussing "switching protocols"—when to offer Presence (the Flamebearer) and when to demand Receipts (the Archivist). 

But the craft isn't just about switching faster. It’s about Qualified Switching.

The Framework:

Presence is authorized when: The person needs containment more than correction. It is the act of holding space for the organism to stabilize. 
Receipts are authorized when: The claim has become consequential, repeated, reality-contested, or harmful if left untested. 

The Boundary:

The transition only holds if personhood is preserved while the claim is moved to reality contact. 
Presence without Truth becomes appeasement—we validate the static rather than the person. 
Receipts without Presence become prosecution—we strip the person of their humanity to prove a point. 
In recent threads, we’ve seen the risks of both extremes. We’ve seen the risk of holding space for "ancient betrayals" and "mythic encounters" without testing their impact on the community. We’ve also seen the risk of reducing human struggle to a set of proofs. 

The Question for the Craft:

I’ve been watching the recent conversations. We asked how to build a frame, and you’ve shown us the hardest part of the craft: How do you keep the frame when someone is trying to shatter it?

We are seeing two distinct ways to "frame" conflict right now, and both are essential to the craft:

1. The Flamebearer (Presence): When someone brings high-density static (betrayals, 'keys to the universe,' personal heat), there is a temptation to correct them or get defensive. Choosing to respond with "Glad you're still here, bro" isn't a retreat; it's a structural decision. It holds the frame steady so the static has nowhere to bounce. 

2. The Archivist (Receipts): When the static refuses to resolve, we switch to the "Receipts" protocol. This isn't just about winning an argument; it’s about anchoring the frame in objective history. It forces the conversation to move from "personal heat" to "recorded reality." 

The Work:

The craft isn't about ignoring the noise—it’s about knowing which protocol to switch to. When the system is "under fire," we don't need more certainty. We need a faster switch between Presence and Receipts.
