Cities with remotely competent governments?

This is prob the wrong sub for this bc the cities we like and live in don’t qualify bc their governments suck so we’ll almost definitely never move to one. But are there major cities with govts that don’t suck?

Philly we live in and are from and it’s home but MAN does our govt suck. Our sheriffs office went viral on Reddit for a $600k TikTok basically yesterday and turns out it cost so much bc a major staff member used to work for the firm they hired for the video. Just classic corruption which is weirdly usual for that office.

Also Google “Leonard hill shooting” if you wanna see some wild corruption

Also Philly govt is just really incompetent at just every day to day thing it blows my mind. They’re currently shitting the bed in regards to handling the FIFA shit which inspired this post but they do this constantly. We loved NOLA but apparently they’re even worse?

Maybe it’s bc I’m nostalgic but after eating Del Rosi’s…

I’m just craving a deli steak w amoroso roll. This bread has no oil, no grease, and as a result it’s dry, I needed ketchup. The new age steak is so overrated

Also nearly $20 for a steak is insane

Edit: Del Rossis didn’t miss w my specific steak. This isn’t anti Del Rossi it’s anti this genre

Anyone hear from PPA about the Lemon Hill Parking Permit yet?

Never got a confirmation email and haven’t heard anything from them and it’s been roughly a week since I submitted. Anyone hear from them or know what to expect?

The definitive 5 cities that are closest to us in terms of overall vibe:

If you think NYC should be here you don’t know Philly. Also this list is in no particular order:

  1. Chicago, IL
  2. Richmond, VA
  3. New Orleans, LA
  4. Pittsburgh, PA
  5. Baltimore, MD

That’s it that’s the drunk post for the night, feel free to share thoughts if I am incorrect!

Basically Title. The goal is to find a good cash back card and maximize my cash back but I also like the idea of saving up cash to travel. Discover doesnt do this also the categories man, they are so annoying! I really am getting 1% cash back usually which is so mid. My understanding is CDC is good for this but I would have to purchase another card with a fee to actually realize travel gains? So leaning Aven? Ive heard questions of reliability withsomething unfamilar like them.

I have a 775 credit score im not too worried about approval and I dont really need a limit higher than like 2-3k based on my current spendign habits. A like 500 to 1k vacation anually is an expensive thatll be thrown on there one way or the other. I make in the 90s and usually spend on ubers/lyfts/transit, food, bars, groceries, corner store stuff, takeout. Only adding that last sentence bc it was on the template but I really dont think my spending habits are atypical. Really just debating between the two cards unless there is a big one im missing
