Point and Laugh

Got laid off in September.
Same company offered me another job at a lower starting pay $2 less than what I was making but the new role also had bonus potential, which was based on customer reviews.
I Turned it down because in part because I was not happy a job I was just hired for 3 months prior was being eliminated, and I was being forced to take a pay cut. I also believed I was getting another job and could collect the severance.

Well, Surprise, didn’t get the Job I was hoping for and when I reapplied for another job in the said company, I was turned down twice. Another job has ghosted me, pretty sure I’m being punished for turning down the first role.

I now get to navigate the worst job market in 20 years. I have Student loans, CCs and a Car payment. Unemployment won’t pay half my car payment, let alone my other bills.

Part of my issue is this will be my 3rd job in the past year. I left my previous role last September because I was pulling myself out of a bender with Drugs and Alcohol. Then I got a job in December that gave me notice I would be laid off in February because the funding for my role was rejected, Then I got a contract role that lasted a month, and now this. I hate myself for turning the role down. Its a lesson learned.

So anyways point and laugh and make fun of me. I deserve it.

Laid off after not even 90 days

How do I even process this.

I was rehired for a Company I worked for back from 2019-2022, I left because I had found a better offer. Life happened in that 4 years and I found my way back this past May in a different department.

I was hesitant because this company was doing a ton of layoffs, but the salary and opportunity seemed, at the time, like the risk out weighed the reward. I took the role, and in the process burned a bridge with another, stable company for the sake of what I thought was career growth. I jumped back in and it was as if I never left. Processes had changed sure, they just got a new CEO in the Fall, but for the most part, nothing seemed different.

Then yesterday, I get an alert that a meeting was added to my calendar, Very odd, but in the industry I am in, Change is more common than stability.

And, my gut told me exactly what it was, and I knew it. I was being laid off, well my whole department, actually channel.

And now, I am in a wtf mode, I have 2 months to move to a different team, assuming I can find a role, because my location is cooked in terms of opportunity and financially, I don’t have the means to move and find a place.

The severance is generous. I won’t be sharing too much, but I don’t need to panic in the immediate future, but given the lack of opportunity and the fact that I wasn’t around to make a meaningful impact, I feel like the battle is just too uphill for me to climb.

I don’t know what else to day or do, I know that America in general is in the gutter and Corporations run the country. But I am just so over whelmed.

I had a bad 24 months, and I thought I finally was turning a corner. I guess I did turn the corner, just into a wall too high to climb.

Don’t be this guy.

I didn’t sit through all of these underwriting guidelines trainings and take all those courses to give people my discount for fun.

Anyone Hear from Mohela?

I have received an Email from the ED but nothing from Mohela, logged in yesterday and Don’t have anything saying I need to change my plan. All my loans still say forbearance.

I don’t want to jump the gun and screw myself.

Should I get ahead of the game now? Or wait till I get a letter or something.

Good local Coffee shops?

Ive lived here for a while, being from the Midwest I stick to my Dunkin’ and I’ll do the occasional Starbucks or Dutch Bros run. But I’m feeling adventurous and frisky.

Anyone have any good Local Coffee shops to try out? I’m in Centennial Hills but not opposed to driving for some good coffee.

Thanks!

Surest Health Care coverage

Delete if not allowed.

I just started a new job and they offer a plethora of different options for Health coverage.

The two I have narrowed it down too are

Surest Copay only plan and the Premera Blue Cross HDHP with HSA (Company includes $500)

I am torn between the two, the Plan picker the company has suggests the Surest for the low out of pocket and the fact I am a Relatively healthy male in my late 20s
But, the old man in me is used to the traditional “Pay and arm and leg for reasonable insurance.”

Is anyone familiar with either of these? Any info on the Surest plan would be helpful,

Thanks.

Ambient lighting randomly doesn’t turn on.

I have a 2025 Tesla model three and the ambient lighting just randomly won’t turn on. I verified in my settings that I have the toggle on. But there are times where it just won’t turn on when I get in the car. Is it a setting that I’m missing? Is it my profile or am I just missing something else?

2 months in current role. Just received another offer.

I currently work in for a rental car agency. I make 21.06 an hour. I work 45 hours a week. I get OT.

I just received another offer from a company for $24 an hour 40 hours a week with travel. Mileage reimbursement, and meal allowance when on the road.

Few things to consider.

Current company has a Huge promotion culture. But hours are long, expectations are high and pay is generous as you move up.

New company is in a different field, Events and Marketing. No Sales Commissions but I Get a corporate bonus and annual merit increase.

New company told me in third interview I might be over qualified for role but they discussed promotions in as soon as a year. No crazy promotions culture. Money could be better as I move up.

I’m technically taking a pay cut. But the opportunity at the new role is intriguing and travel sounds fun.

I am worried about new company with layoffs but I believe they would move me beforehand. (I had this addressed in Interviews.).

I am a rehire at both.

I also have already had some cracks form at my current role.

My biggest debts are student loan and Car payments. I live with family so I would be able to save. And I live in a state with no income tax.

What would you do?

Feel free to ask questions.
