Crinum Ellen Bosanquet Starting to bloom for the year.

This is by far the most reliable bloomer out of the varieties I have. Pretty much indestructible, no pest problems, no care needed except regular water. One of these days I'll get the potted plants in the ground and hopefully they get even larger with free root run.

Cycad identification help.

Hello, I am new to the cycad collecting and stumbled on this plant being offered by a local seller as Zamia furfuracea. It was pretty obvious it wasn't that species and I bought it because it was definitely not a Cycas revoluta and it didn't look like anything familiar at the time. On closer inspection, and with a little research, I believe it's an Encephalartos species but past that I'm really not sure how to tell which one or if it may possibly be a hybrid.

The plant is growing in a 42cm pot (10 gallon nursery container). The largest leaves are 123cm long, the longest leaflets are 13cm in length. Not sure if anyone is able to identify it by just foliage or if I will have to wait until cones develop to be more exact on which species it may be.

Haemanthus humilis "Giant Form" ex Dawie Human

This is my first bloom from this variety, I have two seedlings sourced from the same grower and the other is still silent. Supposedly it becomes much larger when given more root run, so next year it's probably going to go into a 2 / 3 gallon container to see how large it can really get.

Gethyllis ciliaris ssp. longituba OP ex Wessells PBS BX493

First bloom from this guy, was not expecting the pink flushing and its really beautiful in person. Hopefully the others in the pot bloom next season and I can make some seeds.

Vanda Hilo Rainbow Fairy first bloom in my care.

Picked this up last winter while on a trip, it was pretty rough but the hybrid seemed interesting so I chanced it. After a year or recovery and a few months in the greenhouse its finally given me a little bloom. Not much fragrance but maybe in the evening hours if I remember to check.

Pancratium maritimum finishing up its flowering season at the LA County Arboretum

Saw just two blooms left but from the seed pods and spent stalks it must have been quite a display a few weeks ago. Hopefully my bulbs can flower in the next couple of years, might try them in open ground as these plants were quite large and vigorous in their raised bed.

Myrmecocattleya Annalisa first bloom seedling.

This one has been growing for quite a while, ~5 years, without blooming. It was purchased as Near Bloom size but it seems I was not giving it enough light to flower. After moving to the new greenhouse I burned it this spring before adding the shading and it immediately spiked and produced this cluster of blooms.

Crinum album blooming at the Huntington Gardens.

I haven never seen this species before and was surprised to see it growing in their Australian garden section. No obvious fragrance during the visit but perhaps it has some nocturnal scent for moth pollinators.

Iris ensata in full bloom today at Descanso Gardens

These were growing in the Japanese garden right along the water features edge, unfortunately not a common sight where I live but very eye catching.

Agave parrasana seen blooming at Descanso Gardens today.

These were right at the entrance in full bloom and covered in bees, spikes about 7ft high and 1.5 feet at their widest.

Vandas opening up with the summer heat

Vanda [ Pharaoh's Gold x sanderiana ] & V. Muang Thong both opening fully with the recent heat. Both these are relatively new plants but they seem to have established well enough to rebloom after a year of neglect and some dehydration.

Haemanthus carneus starting to bloom again.

Seems to be up pretty early this year, might flush again this fall after the weather cools off from summer. There are two bulbs in the pot with the second also waking up with a small flush of flowers, hopefully I can get some pollination and seed from it this time around.

Domingoa haematochila first bloom from flask

First bloom from this flask, there's about 8 plants in spike but they've been that way for months. The buds must develop and open pretty quickly as I didn't see anything a week ago and this morning before watering I found this flower opened up.

Myrmecophila (Schomburgkia) tibicinis making the Greenhouse smell like grape candy.

Myrmecophila (Schomburgkia) tibicinis has a grape / sweet candy fragrance. The blooms usually start in spring and the plant flowers in 3-6 week cycles until fall.

Paphiopedilum Donvischilum (concolor x leucochilum) obtained a couple years back from a seller out east. This is its first flowering in my care and it decided to put up 3 blooms on a single stem. I'm pretty sure that's not normal but I'll take what flowers I can at this point.
