Being given a site

I’m a townie who married a framers daughter a couple of years ago. Living in a small village, decent house and both happy enough.

Her folks have offered us a site beside their home house and a couple of her brothers places.

We’d be in a position to build a very nice house, the house that my Mrs dreams of infact, but I’ve reservations.

If I’m being honest I’m not dying about living in the countryside. Don’t do it often but I like being able to walk to the pub, i can walk to the shops, I like that our kids when they come along will walk to school and the pitch, will have friends that just call for them unannounced.

Friend asked me if I would buy a house there - I said no , I’d just be there because of the site and the house we could build on it. He reckons that’s my answer.

Before this the plan was always to buy a nicer house in the area we’re currently in.

Anyone been in a similar situation???

The week that finally broke me

Bought in at 20cent last year, bought again at 29. Missed the spike when it hit $1.80 - my target was $3 so only my own greed to blame.

Still believed it would come back but watching the value steadily decline this week and then reading about the 15 million shares to attract reward and incentivise staff……

Maybe penny stocks aren’t for me- today I started to off load.

Follow up - should interfere with my friends plans?

Just a quick post following on from a couple of nights ago about a good friend finding out that his fiancé cheated on him.

Got a hour with him this afternoon planning to tell him it was a crazy idea. Thankfully he already realised and admitted that it was a knee jerk reaction.

He’s planning to ditch the bride to be over the weekend in a much more humane way!!

All good in the hood!

Is it my place to talk a good friend out of a decision I thinks really poor?

One of my oldest friends confided in me last night and it’s not sitting well with me.

Short version of things is that he got engaged late last year, due to be married late summer but found out that she cheated a month after the engagement (cast iron proof)

Understandably he is incredibly bitter, she doesn’t know that he knows and he’s planning on going through with the wedding and telling her to sling her hook during his speech.

He’s not looking my opinion on this - only has told me as he has a honeymoon booked and suggest we go needing me to get a visa - as opposed to cancelling.

Few factors -

He is by and large paying for the day - no family money involved.

His main driver seems to be making sure everyone knows

He tells me all legalities have been addressed though I’m not sure what exactly that means.

I’m devastated for him, total shock but this whole thing isn’t sitting well with me - I feel it’s a very public execution but it doesn’t appear to be up for discussion.

Do I take another go at talking to him - or is it even any concern of mine??

Update - thanks everyone.

Most of us are on the same page. I’m going to talk to him in a couple of days when things have settled. Fully prepared to show him this to talk a bit of sense into him

Thanks again folks

Newry Armagh road this afternoon- about a dozen bikers heading towards Armagh on an absolute death wish.

Near caused three separate accidents with crazy overtaking manoeuvres

No wonder they get a bad rep - bit of common sense goes a long way.

Wise up to fuck this weekend lads….
