Boat Storage

Looking for recommendations for somewhere to store a 30ft boat over the winter in the Limerick, Killaloe or Nenagh area.

Nothing too fancy required, just somewhere secure and reasonably priced. The boat can be stored on its trailer, so indoor or partially enclosed in a barn would be fine.

If anyone has any recommendations or knows somewhere for caravan, camper van or classic car storage that I could try, I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks.

How consistent have your NCT test experiences been?

I’m not generally out to bash the NCT, but I see a lot of people complaining about it and, based on my last few experiences, I can understand why.

Last year, I had my test on the Sunday evening of the August bank holiday weekend. The car failed because the headlights were apparently “not working simultaneously.” I drove home not really knowing what the issue was, as everything looked fine, and the retest was a visual, so you'd think it would be obvious.

I decided to go back the following morning for the free retest, thinking that if it failed again, I could at least ask them to show me exactly what was wrong. It passed, less than 12 hours after failing, with absolutely nothing done to the car.

This year, I had the test yesterday and failed because the front window tint was too dark. The thing is, this is the third time I’ve had this car tested since buying it. The tint was already fitted when I got it and it was never an issue during either of the previous tests.

Have you ever failed for something that was passed before, or had a car pass a retest without doing anything to it?

Recommendations for Decking Replacement in Limerick

I’m looking for recommendations for someone in the Limerick area to remove an existing timber decking and replace it with composite decking.

Some of the existing subframe may also need to be replaced. Ideally looking for someone reliable who can handle the full job, including removal and disposal of the old decking.

Has anyone had similar work done recently and can recommend someone? Thanks!

Simple radio alarm clock for someone with a visual impairment

I’m looking for recommendations for a straightforward radio alarm clock for someone with a visual impairment.

Ideally, it would have as few buttons as possible, with large, easy-to-feel controls and a simple alarm and radio setup. A large clear display and ease of use is the main priority. We’re not looking for anything with lots of menus, apps or complicated features.

Ideally something available to buy in the UK/ Ireland from Amazon or similar.

Has anyone found a particular model that works well?

Thanks!

Skoda Octavia VRS Faults

Looking for a bit of advice before I start firing parts at this.

I've got a 2013 Skoda Octavia vRS 2.0 TDI (184bhp, CUPA engine) that's been giving me two fault codes:

P0101 - MAF sensor range/performance

P0402 - EGR excessive flow

The P0101 comes back every time. The P0402 is much more intermittent.

The car actually drives reasonably well, no limp mode but its a little sluggish at low revs. I think it drives better with the MAF disconnected, but I guess that's subjective, just how it feels.

So far I've checked over the intake pipework for anything obvious, and cleared the faults several times while monitoring it with VCDS. Despite that, the P0101 always returns, while the P0402 only appears occasionally.

I'm trying to work out whether the MAF fault is causing the EGR fault, whether the EGR is sticking open, or if there's something else I'm overlooking. I'd rather diagnose it properly than start replacing parts.

Has anyone seen this combination of faults on the EA288 2.0 TDI? Any common causes or tests you'd recommend next would be much appreciated.

Best online shops for holiday clothes that’ll deliver to Ireland by next Tuesday?

35 y/o male heading on holidays next week and realised I’m badly lacking in decent t-shirts, shirts... Anything with short-sleeves basically!!

I know ASOS is an option, but theres something about their website and app that really frustrates me!

Not much luck locally either, been around a few shops and nothing really standing out.

Any recommendations for online places that deliver reliably to Ireland by next Tuesday at the latest? Looking for decent quality without spending absolute madness money.

Cheers!
