Estate and Financial Planning for lgbtq and/or neurodivergent families

I am looking for financial and estate practices that are more welcoming of non-traditional families. I am in Springfield, but BN area is okay too. I really hate the fish-out-of water feeling for such important stuff. I also don't have much in the way of an estate, but want to make sure my adult kids don't have a mess to deal with when I die.

Estate planning/end of life stuff

I'm 64 and have an appointment with an estate planner. I don't really have any money outside of my house and life insurance and very small investments (thanks ADHD), but I don't want to leave my kids with a mess to figure out. I'm filling out a worksheet and the question that is stumping me is about who will be taking care of my affairs after I die. I guess I can put my kids down, but it's not really their thing and there's a burden that comes along with that responsibility. I have one or two friends who I might consider, but they are my age. This is just weird. Any suggestions or commiseration?

Elongated toilet preferable for obese person?

I was about to pop for a Bio Bidet 1000, but read something about how a larger person shouldn't use a round toilet/round bidet seat because it limits the efficacy of the bidet seat features. I currently have a round toilet and am wondering if I should swap it out for an elongated one before buying a bidet seat. This is for a family member who is 300+ lbs and has mobility issues.

Bagged meters in downtown

What's going on downtown tomorrow (Weds)? A lot of meters are bagged with "no parking" messages. A friend had planned on meeting me for lunch downtown tomorrow, but maybe we should reschedule. Is it time for the FFA convention?

Is it Anxiety or is it My Heart Exploding?

I almost came to you all for advice a few days ago. Crazy tachy heart, felt weird, etc. The last time it happened--4 years ago--I got a whopping ER bill for "looks like anxiety." But I found an urgent care that is a step down from ER, got in right away, felt listened to and got a couple hours in the dark with an IV and audiobook. Nothing in labs or ekg showed anything alarming, but I got a referral to cardiology APRN for an echo just to make sure.

Mostly, I'm proud of myself for not asking the internet for advice in what could have been an emergency situation (HOPITAL!), but jeez, I am not looking forward to another 20 years of anxiety about getting and being old. This shit is weird.

Consignment furniture?

Are there any stores with quality consignment furniture? Lazy Boy quality+ . I just want a sturdy comfortable couch under 2k that won't fall apart in 3 years. Not super picky about style. Thanks!

Did I just have a panic attack?

Last night I took out the garbage and did some other house maintenance stuff. When I went to put a new bag in the bin liner, I couldn't find it. I looked everywhere, inside, outside, twice. I started to feel kind of crazy and gaslit. How do you lose a large black plastic receptacle? I had my son look and he couldn't find it. This morning, I got up and looked again. Nothing. I started feeling queasy and nauseous and my head felt weird. That crazy feeling. My heart was pounding and felt irregular. Apple Watch ruled out afíb. I lay back down for a bit and took a warm bath & feel somewhat better.

This happened once before and an ER trip ruled out anything and cost thousands of dollars. I do have GAD, for the record.

Eau de Mentholaum

I picked this La-z-boy up at Habitat Restore because it's in great shape and I LOVE the Fruit Stripe gum vibe. However, once I got it home, I was hit by the heavy scent of some sort of mentholated balm. How do I go about unstinking it (so I can re-stink it with my own preferred old people smell). I have a carpet cleaner with upholstery attachments. Thanks!
