[UPLB] Marami or lahat ba ng Electrical Engineering students from UPLB ay na dedelay?

I heard na EE daw ang hardest engineering course in UPLB, and that students are delayed cause of the math subjects. Is this true po? If so, what advice can you offer to an incoming first year EE student in UPLB who si already worried and nervous? haha thank youuuu

[UPLB] Electrical Engineering or Applied Physics? Which one is more (worth?) it?

Hello! I got my prio program in LB, which is Electrical (I dont know why I chose that haha but its fine with me since i initially wanted to be in ECE). My dream program is actually Physics and Im already regretting na hindi ko ginawang first choice ang Diliman cause NIP is there. I want to change courses sana from Electrical Engineering to Applied Physics. So, my question is:

  1. Saang industry pumupunta mga APHY graduates since hindi naman nabibigyan ng emphasis and small ang science, specifically physics, community sa Pilipinas?
  2. Enough ba ang mag take lang ng masteral to work in the university as a prof or researcher?
  3. Is it true na if hindi ka nag push ng PhD, dehado ka sa opportunities as a physicist?
  4. Is it worth it na mag switch pa from Enginerd to Physicist?

Nanghihinayang kasi ako mag switch kasi engineering na yan sa UP eh haha. Mahirap daw makapasok sa college of engineering. So maybe what im worried about is worth it ba yung switch? Should I just stick to being an enginerd since medyo blurry ang career path in physics?

Electronics Engineering Experience in PLM

Hello! Im an incoming first year college and i got ECE in PLM. I just have a set of questions for people in ECE, been in ECE, or know people from ECE po hehe:

  1. May naririnig ako na may mga profs na hindi nagtuturo in med (?), is this also the state of ECE?
  2. I heard na maraming nakakapasa sa boards na galing PLM because of the students' sariling sikap and diskarte raw and hindi dahil sa pagtuturo?

(Im sorry if these questions are soooo negative, i dont mean to be provocative. Its just that may naririnig lang ako from here and there, so i wanna fact check what theyre saying kasi di agad ako naniniwala hahahaha...)

  1. Is it true na profs in engineering are focused more on sa board exams cause the of the school's reputation in boards nga?

  2. San po nag wowork / what industry ang pinapasukan ng mga ECE graduates after passing the boards?

  3. In general, is ECE good in PLM?

Thank you so much for taking the time to read and maybe answer my questions hehehe. Again, i dont mean to ragebait anyoneeee. Sorry for some of these questions...

ECE or EE career

Hello! I'm currently deciding which course to pick, Electrical Engr (UPLB) or Electronics Engr (PLM). I saw, from another one of my post, na tough ang job market sa semicon industry for ece so much better kung sa good univ ka nag aral (thats why i added the school name above). Pero this is not the only industry I can work in siguro?

Im already worried and not particularly interested in shifting to the IT industry if i ever choose ece, because thats where most ece grads pivot to cause of work opportunities.

So, should I just choose to study electrical instead? Ganito rin ba ang state ng electrical? Thank youuuu

Currently struggling on which course im gonna take, ECE or Applied Physics? Im very much interested in both fields.

I wanna ask ano yung mga naging career after getting either degree since both courses are flexible? What doors open? Ano yung mga opportunities? Also, is it good in the long term? And of course, okay ba ang sahod? haha!

Thank you agad to those people who would share, and syempre I needed to ask that last question haha! In this economy ba naman, one would be worried...

JUST A HEADS-UP: this post is a little long cause I want people to understand where Im coming from, what and how I currently think about my situation.

I need opinions and insights, as I am going through a terrible and sad (for me it is) dilemma. Im currently deciding which university to choose for undergrad. I passed BS Electrical Engineering in UPLB, BS Physics in Ateneo, and BS Electronics Engineering in PLM.

For context: my dream is to become a physicist (doing research in a university while being a professor on the side). However, im not exactly sure how I can be one, as it is a tough and intellectually demanding path. Also, I dont know people whom I can seek advice and guidance from, as the physics community in this country is soooooo small. Unlike engineering, med, accountancy, physics doesnt have a predefined career path (e.g. if you wish to become an engineer, obviously the first step is to get your degree, better if you pass the boards, then find a job, be an engineer) and you can be steered to a lot of different industries after graduating. Essentially, physics is flexible.

Ateneo Situation: Wellll, I got what course I wanted in Ateneo, but its too expensive so Ateneo is out of the picture.

UPLB Situation: I plan on changing my course in UPLB (from electrical engr to applied physics since they dont offer bs physics, only in UPD and im already regretting i didnt choose UPD as my first choice) via 'qualifers appeal'. But I'm also scared to go down that road, as I dont know what I can do with that degree. What job can I take after graduating and maybe before taking masters? If I dont get masters, am I gonna be stuck in that job? The route towards becoming a physicist in this country is blurry. No emphasis is given to the scientific community.

PLM Situation: Im interested in electronics engineering! Personally, engineering is second to becoming a physicist, but that doesnt mean Im not interested in the field. I think if I choose PLM (be an enginerd), I can have a map of this predefined career path I talked about earlier. Also, many profs have said that electronics is hard but it will open a lot of doors in the future and also in terms of work opportunities. But I still think about doing physics as your job.

So: I like both electronics and bs physics, but i like physics more. The problem with physics is its hard to plan the future with it (I think?). I have the opportunity to do what I also like in PLM as an enginerd and possibly? have a more clear future, but again... hmmmm...... And at least, if everything goes sideways, i still have an engineering degree which is a big thing.

Is this a good and sensible and doable plan?

  1. Go to PLM
  2. Pass the boards
  3. Be an enginerd
  4. Work for a while
  5. Take masters in physics (I heard you can do this with an engineering degree?) (take in UP?)

With this plan, can i still be a physicist and be a professor in a big 4 university?

Do you guys have any advice for me? Just thinking about my dilemma just makes me miserable and sucks the life out of me haha! Not exaggerating....
