T-Satellite completely useless during a cellular outage

T-mobile is currently experiencing cellular outage, so I figured I‘d test out their T-satellite connectivity and it turns out it’s completely useless as well. I tried to start a focused discussion on this on the T-Mobile subreddit but it was removed by the mods.

Sharing this T-Satellite datapoint as fyi.

What was the most money you saw Delta offer to give up seat on an overbooked flight?

Also, would that be enough to bump you to another flight if you already paid for a D1 seat?

Is D1 generally cheaper these days?

It seems like D1 is much cheaper than in the years past. Does anyone else share this same observation? Or is it just the routes I’m looking at which is transpacific.

Security camera that fails to do the only job

Wtf is wrong with eufy cams. Frequent connectivity issues, freezes, flawed motion detection, fails to show you clips when there’s motion detected, abrupt jumps in play back when playing at 4x, and list goes on.

Every feature is broken one way or another. Garbage.

Billionaires with “$1” salary only pay 67 cents to social security with or without the cap.

Thee‘s been so many posts about “raising the social security cap”. This is a distraction by the billionaire class to distract us from the real discussion. How to tax billionaires and trillionaires. Raising the cap just makes other wage slaves pay more while billionaires and trillionaires pays nothing.

Xfinity has the inferior product, they have to sweeten the deal

We get 1GB bi-direction fiber in Seattle suburb for $55. Xfinity is trying to push their assymetric 1GB inferior internet for $50. I wish they'd stop wasting paper and gas mailing these garbage offers. I don't see it making sense for anyone unless they just had a stroke. It won't be competitive unless it's $30 with their inferior service.

Petsmart delivery via uber strangeness

I don’t know why petsmart uses uber to deliver shipments (not same day delivery but 2 - 3 day shipments). But when they do I sometimes encounter uber delivery person that sits in front of our house for 10+ minutes trying to reach us via phone or text. Why do they do this? Is it for tips? I didn’t ask for uber and I have no idea how they’re compensated. So I’m confused.

Never cruised, tipping on higher end rooms.

Say I’m booking an iconic suite on celebrity for $40k+ for 7 night cruise. Who expects tips and how much should I give?

I’ve never been cruising nor am I filthy rich. Just want to have a good time and live like a king for a week while I’m still alive and kicking. TIA!

Deals on lifetime sub?

I just recently discovered this app and was curious if there were any deals on lifetime plan in the past 2 years or so. I think there've been deals on month to month or annual plan but not sure if one was ever offered for lifetime.

I don't fly as much so I can do month to month and still come out ahead (albeit with a bit of hassle). But if I can just pay for annual once and forget about the sub, that would be even better.

Amex Travel: Sheraton Waikiki: $6500 markup

I haven't looked at Amex Travel these days but, yikes, who in their right mind uses it to book anything these days? Most hotels are chrohnically overpriced by a huge margin even when accounting for free nights or free breakfast.

Example, Sheraton Waikiki's suite for 8 nights:

  • Direct Hotel Booking = $11,000 (resort fee included)
  • Chase Sapphire Travel = $11,200 (+450 resort fee due at hotel)
  • Amex Travel = $17,000 (+450 resort fee due at hotel)

It doesn't matter if I'm booking at budget Sheraton or higher end Four Seasons / Rosewood. The markup is categorically worse than competition and has gotten proressively worse over the years.

It seems like any cash back card would offer better ROI than Amex. Yes, there are transfer partners but that's a lot of hassle for the average person.

So question for you all, do you actually find deals there?

Datapoint request: Travel Portal pricing

So I’m exploring a potential switch to venture x. The benefits are mostly tied to using their travel portal which I can’t see as a non-member. Can someone with access check the price of Four Seasons Hualalai (in Kailua Kona) for 7 night stay in October? This will be a useful datapoint to check how fair the pricing is for hotels in Hawaii. Thank you!

Edit: Thank you thank you thank you everyone! Very helpful! The hotel rates seems fair unlike Chase The Edit program!

Datapoint request: Retention offer for 200k-500k spend

The UR point redemption is a pain given the recent devaluation of points boost. I’m planning to cancel and switch to fidelity’s card unless they offer some kind of retention. For anyone spending in the 200-500k range did you get anything?

I noticed CSR nerfed their redemption for points boost hotel/airline. So I wanted to see if this was still the best card or if there were better options. I plan to cancel either Amex Plat or Chase Reserve or both this year to manage annual fees.
