Make the rain for your own garden
Things have been harder lately in careing for my mother and I was reaching out for help and several members of this reddit helped me! Thank you so much! This morning I took the time to just sit in my garden and appreciate the smells and sun and quietness. If we can use these little moments to recharge and feel calm then we can keep going. Caregiving has been the most emotionally draining experience of my life and it's not because of big moments; its the slow, silent drain that sneaks up on you and steals your joy and calm.
I found this book at a church thrift sale and wanted to share a quote I found poignant and led me to enjoy my garden today:
"You are not failing because you are tired. You are tired because you are pouring water from your own well to keep another’s garden alive. Remember that even the most compassionate soil needs rain of its own."
We all need the rain for our own garden. And when you can't get rain from others, you have to make it yourself. That is what I am realizing. So many of us are walking this journey by ourselves and we need to be reminded that we need caring too.
Sometimes, that caring will only come from you.

Beautiful Thrifted sweater has one BIG problem!
Found this gorgeous knit sweater in a thrift store and loved the pattern it and it was in great shape. It looked a little large but I had no idea until I got home and tried it on! Oh well, it will go onto my upcycle project pile!

Mother is not telling her doctor everything she tells me
For weeks my 93 year old mother has been telling me about the pain she has in her back every morning and about how she keeps hearing her shoulder cracking and she's not sleeping but she doesn't want to go to her doctor.
Finally, today I lure her out of the house to visit the doctor with the reward of some shopping/thrifting after and she tells her doctor that she's fine and doesn't know why her daughter (me) dragged her in here!
I was flabbergasted! Well I stammered out a few of the complaints she has been making to me and she says "Oh that! That's not a big deal." I was fuming. Everyday I hear all her aches and pains and complaints and when I finally get her to the doctor she pretends she doesn't know why she's there and I'm overreacting to everything.
I am so pissed at her and I don't understand why she did that. When we got back to the car she just wanted to go home and wouldn't give any explanation for why she said that. I'm wondering now if she was trying to punish me for making her go to the doctor or something like that which really triggers some past experiences with her that I don't want to re-visit.
Does anyone else care for a parent that complains constantly but suddenly is fine when brought to the doctor?

Found a bunch of Zara boots and cute shoes at the Salvation army
I don't usually go to this location but I was nearby for my mother's doctor appointment so I figured why not while I wait! They had a whole bunch of cute shoes and boots almost 40% off but my days of wearing high heels are over so I didn't buy any.

Salvation Army Found a bunch of the cutest shoes and Zara boots!
Almost 40%off and no wear damage I couldn't believe it! However my days of wearing high heels are over so they will find a better home!
