WAMC cGPA 3.57 512

Hi all just wondering how I should approach applying to certain schools. Really disappointed w how average these stats are. Picked up my GPA in the final 3 semesters w a ~4.0 with heavy science classes (anatomy , cell bio, microbio etc). I’m nj resident , ORM. I plan on finding a new job apart from my scribe position , either a pct/cct. Would like to aim MD

700h scribe at state hospital
200h pt aide
40h volunteer scribe at nonprofit
~50h shadowing (ENT, PA trauma surgery, hospitalist, virtual)
20h crisis text line (will get to 100-200)
10h at nature preserve restoring the grounds (getting to 100-200)
0h algebra2 tutor at a homeschool institution (start next week)

Looking at food banks volunteer positions

i am not crazy passionate about research at all but I have been looking for something to no avail, not sure how to find any position in research paid or unpaid post grad

LOR: microbio teacher, hospitalist head at hospital, ??need 2 more??

SCHOOL LIST
Quinnipiac
George Washington
Georgetown
Howard
Tufts ?
Hackensack
Rutgers Med
Rowan
Albany
CUNY NY
Drexel
Albert Einstein ?

I want to add more schools just not sure how to go about it with these stats, I would like to stay in the NE ideally and have primarily MD if I have enough juice for them

Is hero hall fix applicable to returning players

I came back to the game a month ago which is when I was first introduced to hero hall. All the quests said it’s already claimed even though I never did them. Will those quests reopen or did it autoclaim the rewards without me needing to do the quests while I was gone?

Chances?

Hi all very conflicted after receiving my score today. My GPA is (in my opinion) very low compared to the average accepted applicant so I thought I’d ask for others opinions. For reference, my highest fl score was 515 and I felt like I had a lot to give and could do better. I thought I’d come here and ask bc I see posts of people on adcoms giving advice.

major: cell biology and neuroscience
cGPA: 3.57
sGPA: 3.45\~
**Near 4.0 average in the last 3 semesters with heavy science classes**

MCAT: 512

Medical scribe: 800h
Volunteer scribe at nonprofit: 40h
Trauma surgery pa shadow: 20h
ENT md shadow: 20h
hospitalist+oncologist shadow: 50h
Physical therapy aide: 200h
Crisis text line counselor: 20h (will get to 100-200)

Things planned: homeschool tutor + tutor for my county, local nature reserve volunteer, food bank volunteer

Hobbies: guitar, pickleball, gaming, poker, gym

I think I could look to find a different job to get experience elsewhere other than scribing but honestly my biggest thing rn is if I should retake because I feel I could do better and I want to give myself the best chance at MD. For reference, I’m aiming MD and applying to a few DO (2-3) hoping to aim for mid level md.

Phroxzon post

I don’t understand how these employees come to the conclusions they do without interacting with adc players.

  1. Balancing around proplay makes the game more shit for soloq players , oatley (is that his name? Kench player) had a great post about it

  2. The ‘optimal level of frustration’ they’re looking for sounds fair on paper but there is no frustration vs mage bot it’s just unfun, I went from 10-15 games a week to 0

  3. Literally nobody I saw complained about mage damage, it was how uninteractive the lane becomes being shoved under turret the entire laning phase

I personally don’t mind getting deleted as long as I have a chance to actually outplay and do damage

  1. Enabling mage bot creates a perma roaming support seen from the baus clip yet they’re treating the symptom and not the source ? They think ppl aren’t going to find a way around it

  2. Wits end is so dogshit yet they keep it in the state it’s in which gives us 1 viable mr item while DD has been abused for how long ???

I don’t get how they speed up the game so much and do nothing for the class that relies on the game being dragged out or at least give them a way to drag the game out instead of being at the mercy of their teammates

How to get better

I understand it’s just ‘play the game more 4head’ but it feels so stagnant. For background info coming back after a long break, never really tried to climb , currently th17. I do th18 fc daily, I’m only at like 23/24 in ranked but I’m 100% 3star in those but when I get th18 bases in fc or war I just fucking suck idk why. I watch the replays, I watch yt vids , I try to fix mistakes like funneling spell usage etc and still can’t consistently 3 star th18 as a 17 which is EXPECTED, feels very frustrating. I use throwers and it feels awful to use but I have no army specific equipment leveled up other than fireball which is super difficult to pick up so I have no idea what to switch to or to just continue suffering with constant 2star throwers

EDIT: to clarify, I use throwers but it feels awful to use and low agency army

I’m so exhausted

I love this role so much but it’s so miserable to play and I literally can’t play any other role. I climbed from iron to plat by just fixing mental but it’s just so exhausting playing this role I barely manage 3 games a day. If it’s not mage bot then it’s the support or it’s the top or mid laner feeding or it’s the jg not knowing how to play the role. What’s the point of playing a hyperscaler when the game is over in the first 10mins. I unironically had 3 games in a row where either the top or mid is 0 6 in the first 10mins.

Literally just played a game where it was like a 50 kill game had 5kp bc I can’t walk up. While the locke is saying ‘keep farming’. Idk why these creatures don’t understand that I don’t do damage until I hit 3 items and I can’t walk up if no one enables it. Meanwhile Locke is oneshotting everyone on the team by pressing q and e while im deadass autoing THEIR SUPPORT GALIO diving me under turret KILLING ME and walks away with more than 50% hp. Maybe it’s a skill issue I don’t know maybe I need to go in a cave and eat dirt for playing this role

How to get over feeling of disappointment post-test

Tested 7/24 title says it all. I’m able to do other things but this looming feeling of disappointment isn’t going anyway and just feels like it’s here to stay. I know it’s only been a day but I’m soooo disappointed with how long I studied, with how somewhat easier the exam felt than usual, and how much I threw such a good opportunity to score well. Rethinking it in my head I know I got 8 wrong minimum which just makes me feel even worse

Realistic ideal score based on gpa?

Hi all

Just wondering what is a good idealistic score that will offset my low gpa. Obviously I will be putting in max effort and aiming as high as I can, but I’d like to have a reference point.

I didn’t decide on medicine till around sophomore year and I had to adjust to stem classes and learning how to study bc I never did in hs. I have a cGPA of 3.57 and a sGPA around a 3.4. My last 3 semesters were mainly upper level courses for my major ( cell bio, a&p, microbio, etc) and I averaged around a 3.9 those 3 semesters. I’ve seen everywhere upward trend doesn’t matter, it does matter, it matters a little, etc. just wondering what MCAT score would indicate to adcoms that the gpa isn’t a red flag.

How I went from 121 —> 127 in fl cars, 74%->80%+ on Cars Qpack1

I’m writing this when I should be in crunch time but I had a revelation that I need to spread to other people. The revelation is that there is no revelation about cars. It’s just plain old noodle soup 🐼 🦆.

There is no magic tip that will instantly boost your CARS score, at least in my experience. The HOURS I spent perusing trying to find a hidden gem that would help, don’t waste your time like me. There is no secret sauce but here’s the Kung Fu Panda analogy I have for anyone struggling with cars:

Lean into your strengths. If you think you have none, you don’t know yourself enough. What can a fat panda do against Tai Lung? We all saw the ending, we know what a fat panda can do. Truly search for a single thing you’re good at. Are you a fast reader? A slow one? Do you understand what questions are asking quickly? Do you understand them slowly? Po can’t fly like Crane, can’t fight like Viper, or have the agility of mantis. But he beat Tai Lung who solo’d them with ease. Don’t focus on what you lack when you haven’t realized your own potential. Po saw The Five get scrapped, got scared, and still continued to fight to protect The Valley, KNOWING how strong The Five were. Adopt this mindset. Don’t let yourself be defeated mentally like I was over and over and over.

Once you identify your strength(s), manipulate them to your advantage. This is where it gets difficult because it requires creativity so I reccomend you use AI to ask how to utilize your strength. It is single-handedly THE MOST powerful tool at your disposal. I can provide what I did.

I am a fast reader naturally. I can read a passage in about 2-3m but struggled on questions which ate up my time to just get 2-3/6. What did I do? I read that hoe TWICE. The first time with no highlighting and the second time with highlighting the most key aspects of a paragraph. My comprehension improved immensely and translated to understanding questions more and spending less time on them giving me more time for later passages in fl cars when I always was running out of time in previous ones. When you figure out the type of Dragon Warrior you are, THATS when the real work starts and you perfect and improve your process.

Ex. For people who read slowly, maybe take EVEN LONGER (extra 1-2m) ensure that your first read over is the only one you need, and in theory a good understanding of the passage should translate to questions. If you understand questions quickly, how well do you understand the passage? Theoretically, you can get your question times down to sub30s if you truly understand questions quickly and have a deep understanding of the passaging, maybe spend extra time reading and slowly down in the passage. These are just a few examples but using AI will provide much more thorough and comprehensive strategies than the ones I used.

Everyone always has general tips for CARS so here’s mine: if you find direct evidence, don’t overthink it (click and submit) —> if you find direct evidence, read the rest of the paragraph looking for conflicting language to supported evidence (but, except, yet - they love introducing support and refuting it in a scenario later), if you don’t give yourself at least 10mins a passage you are setting up for failure, if you spend more than 2m on a question just click an answer and flag it come back to it later

To all people currently and actively struggling with CARS…

Your story may not have such a happy beginning but that doesn’t make you who you are. It is the rest of your story - who you choose to be.

Anyone feel like they have the content down but can’t translate on the test

I feel like I know a lot of niche details and overall content in general but my fl scores are still so bummy regardless. I had A’s in my chem, biochem, bio class yet I literally cannot break 129 on either (and I know people would like to have this score) but it’s very frustrating knowing and feeling like you can do better but you’re not. ESPECIALLY with p/s, I’ve done the anki and I know examples for a huge majority of them but it never translates on the fl. Wondering if anyone is in the same boat or has any advice

[Searching] th16 | lv193 | tower | war/farm

Coming back to the game after a while. Want to get more into attacking and climbing ranks cause I really only just progressed base when I used to play. Pretty weak attacker currently but quick learner. Pref would like a clan th16+ and I’d be able to participate in cwl to get the min stars or throughout week if I’m strong attacker eventually

CARS help

When I review my fl cars section, I make a 1 sentence summary of each paragraph and I answer questions without seeing which option is right or wrong. Doing this, I get a lot more right than when I’m actually taking the fl under testing conditions (like a lot more, maybe 5-10). Even after doing this method though, the following fl I took showed no meaningful improvement in cars.

What can I do in future fls and on the actual test to represent this improvement seen in the second pass during review? I feel it’s unrealistic to have enough time to make a 1 sentence summary of every paragraph. I am very confident that the improvement in ‘score’ / answer selection in the review DOESNT come from already being familiar with the passage.

Need advice

Vent/Need advice

Been studying for 6mo and have done really thorough studying imo, with anki lots of youtube videos supplementing, practice problems from uworld, and I’ve been using ai to help me analyze errors in my logic/reasoning to gear it towards the aamc style. In the past 6 months my content has improved tremendously. I have not improved AT ALL in extracting and interpreting necessary information from passages correctly. I either focus on the wrong sentence or have an incorrect takeaway. It feels like no matter what I do I will not improve in this area, no amount of ai or excel sheets, or mental notes change anything. I decided to start CP SB1 as my test is coming up in 1mo.

With all my content, with CP as my most confident section, I’m 25q in I’m at 50%. I don’t think I’ve ever felt this mentally defeated in my entire life. I can literally feel my spirit losing its essence inside my body. It’s been about 2d and I haven’t slept this feeling off yet and I don’t know what to do now because I have no urge to do anything related to this test. I’ve always taken challenges in stride because I knew I was capable. I don’t know if I am anymore. I don’t really know what advice I want to hear I just want this feeling to go away and to fix my reading issues and destroy this test.
