Added a little dash of panache

Been wanting to do this since I first got the truck, but I was very particular about what I wanted. I wanted the light to emanate from behind the grid in the vent. Gives a more subtle vibe like there’s a glowing nuclear reactor under the hood. Heh. The popular kits all just mount up in the corner of the vents and give a different look. I ultimately found some cheap strips on amazon and more less followed this dude’s method with a couple modifications: https://youtu.be/2NuThV-mEqg?is=-H9rCwMTv7P2Yn5a

It’s not horrible, right?

Just having some drinks and perusing old stuff. I wrote this song for my wife when I was first wooing her 15 years ago. It’s corny and not particularly complex, but it’s not bad, right? I’ve written many songs over the years and a lot of em ultimately felt kinda forces, but this is one of many a handful that actually felt “inspired”.

How to test LED strip before installation?

I just purchased some led strips for the side vents on my F150. I’ve attached them to the inside of the vents as seen in this vid: https://youtu.be/2NuThV-mEqg?is=GW6wtHYlZqNFx6HR

They’re designed to mount on the outside but I prefer the more subtle look.

Anyhow, I’m gonna have to splice them into the headlight wiring harness and before I go through all that trouble in the 100 degree heat tomorrow, is there a way for me to test them to make sure they work? Can I just touch the wires to the terminals on the 12V battery on my daughter’s power wheels jeep or will that run the risk of frying them because the current isn’t regulated by the truck’s system?

What they gave me vs what I’ve got now

Added Eibach struts and shocks. Had the front set to 1.4” lift to keep a bit of rake and preserve steering. Added a S&B cold air intake, oil catch can, Red Rock OEM style fender flares, 285/70r18 Toyo Open Country AT3’s and 1/4” spacers, Borla Pro XS muffler, and performance supercharged stubby antenna. I also removed the active air dam and trimmed a bit off the passive one.

Two years on now and I’m thinking of setting the Eibachs to full 2.1” front lift and throwing on either 295/70r18’s or 305/65r18’s. She really wants tow mirrors l, too.

Muffler swap to Borla Pro XS, 5.0 Coyote

Camera doesn’t do a great job of conveying the rumble, but it has a nice clean note and growls a bit under load. I also have an S&B cold air intake. Definitely sounds better while actually driving, but I do hope it breaks in and opens up a little.
