West Hollywood’s Summer Sounds Concert Series kicks off Sunday, July 5, at 4 p.m. at Plummer Park, located at 7377 Santa Monica Boulevard. The city of Malibu announced that its Community Services Department received the 2026 Southern California Public Pool Operators Association Innovative Program Award for its Water Safety Program, Sensory Swim. The program is designed for participants of all ability levels and provides a supportive aquatic environment for people with sensory sensitivities and diverse needs. Beverly Hills Community Services is bringing back the free “Concerts on Cañon” summer series from June 4 through August 20. The city of Malibu announced that crews removed graffiti from four additional fire-damaged properties in the Palisades Fire area on June 24 as part of the city’s Graffiti Cleanup Pilot Program. The voluntary program focuses on private properties within Malibu city limits that were impacted by the fire and have graffiti visible from the street. A fire broke out in the front yard bushes of a residential home on the 1400 block of Hesby Street in Sherman Oaks on Saturday, June 28, around 3 a.m. A 13-year-old resident reportedly heard the fire crackling, woke his family, and called 9-1-1. Surveillance footage showed an unidentified man with a shopping cart near the home before the fire started. The suspect has not been identified, and the Los Angeles Police Department is investigating.

Heal the Bay will host a free Summer Tidepool Bioblitz at the Point Dume Tidepools in Malibu on Sunday, July 19, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Participants will use the iNaturalist app to photograph and document marine life, helping collect data that supports scientists’ understanding of the tidepool ecosystem.
