1 y/o- sudden onset intermittent exotropia

Hi all, my 1 y/o suddenly developed intermittent exotropia so I’d like to get your opinions, please!

Went to a ped ophthalmologist and he basically told us that we should do nothing right now and check in with him every few months. He also said surgery isn’t an option until later on (around 6/7 years old) because if we do the surgery now we risk an over correction and the possibility of ruining my son’s 3-D vision. He also said we shouldn’t waste time patching.

Is there really NOTHING we can do right now? My son doesn’t need glasses (his vision is apparently fine) so I am really frustrated. I have an eye condition myself (Duane’s) and understand how hard it can be to have a condition like this - especially when other children begin to notice and make fun.

Would love to hear other experiences or recommendations - especially from parents dealing with this!

I’m exhausted….

I have been thinking a lot about the women who continue to support Lindsay Clancy. It seems that many strongly identify with the idea of being a victim, particularly through discussions of postpartum depression, and desperately want to identify with her situation. I find the persistent “woe is me” framing difficult and emotionally exhausting. I am so over it.

Help desperately needed for almost 1 year old!

My son has been cosleeping with either my husband or me since he was about 6 months old. We usually rotate weeks sleeping with him because he moves around a lot and cries every time he wakes up if he thinks one of us has left him alone in bed (even if we’re literally right next to him). He needs to be tucked under our arm to feel secure at night.

About two months ago, I bought a floor bed hoping we could lie with him until he fell asleep and then roll away, but it hasn’t worked as I’d hoped. He still wakes up every hour or two, crying HYSTERICALLY if he thinks we’ve left the bed. Ive also been having trouble with his naps—he won’t fall asleep unless we’re lying next to him. If he suddenly wakes up from a nap and he’s alone, he will cry extremely hard.

Desperately need some tips here. Im extremely sleepy deprived and now reconsidering sleep training because I can barely function during the day.

Our schedule is roughly wake up between 5:45am-6:30am and bed time between 6:45-7:30pm. We’re trying to transition to one nap right now around noon but he sometimes needs a quick nap around 9:30am.

How to deal with weird neighbor?

Hi guys!

I’m trying to figure out how to handle a situation with a neighbor.

About a year ago, we moved to a new town, and I was very pregnant at the time. A few weeks after we moved in, a neighbor knocked on our door to bring over a welcome gift. She caught us off guard and basically let herself into our house, sat down in our kitchen, and started gossiping about the neighbors while making small talk. She randomly also pulled out her phone a took a photo of my husband and I. We got really strange vibes from her (she was talking about some crazy conspiracies), but at the time she seemed harmless enough, so I told my husband to just avoid letting her back in if she came by again.

A few months later, we noticed she had dropped off a gift of very old children’s books. She also stopped by a few more times over the next several months (knocking very aggressively on our door), but we were able to avoid answering. Unfortunately, about a month ago, she caught my husband outside and talked his ear off for 30 to 45 minutes while I stayed inside with our son.

Yesterday, I was walking my 1-year-old down the street, and as we were heading back home, a car pulled up beside us — it was her. She started talking to me and was very insistent that we come over to her house sometime. She was friendly, but I felt really weird about it because it seemed like she saw us walking and then got in her car just to find us.

Then this afternoon, I saw her drive up to our house again, but this time she dropped off a gift with some soon-to-expire supplements (gripe water & baby iron drops) and a book. After she left, I brought the items inside and threw them away. About 30 minutes later, I saw that she drove back by to (I assume) see if I had taken the gift.

She had mentioned that she has kids, at least one grandchild, and another one on the way. But honestly, I’m feeling creeped out now. It feels like I’m being watched, and I’m uncomfortable taking my son outside. Has anyone dealt with something like this or have advice? I’m not sure if I’m overreacting and it’s just momma bear coming out.
