U/strangwildernes got the light house cleaned up a bit!!

Shoutout to u/Strangewildernes for the Hefner Lighthouse suggestion! 🫡

I only got about 0.65 miles around the lighthouse today, but I wasn't done yet! Ended up hitting Penn Square Mall and knocked out another 3.6 miles.

Apparently I'm entering my mall walker era. 😂🚶‍♂️

Still managed to get a good load of trash picked up along the way! 🗑️

Another Reddit suggestion down. On to the next one!

Thanks again for sending me places to clean up, y'all. Keep 'em coming! 💪🌎

I lost 120lbs walking. Now I wanna step into hiking! Hikes some this Fri at Mt Scott.

I hiked a small amount this last Fri at mount Scott in Oklahoma. It's so fun lol. I wish I would have started walking and hiking so much sooner in my life :) also do y'all pick up trash on your hikes do you notice tons on the trail? That's kinda my thing. Walk and pick up trash! Also if there are any suggestions for hiking boots for people with big feet that would be awesome. I wear 18s. Love you guys

Got in 2 miles in this heat! Absolutely beautiful here.

Big shoutout to u/ok-rhubarb2549 for recommending Medicine Park! It was an awesome place to spend the day walking and picking up trash. I got a ton of footage, met some great people, and I can't wait to start editing it.

Also, a pretty cool update... a shoe company from Australia, Comfort Co, liked my story so much that they wanted to send me a pair of shoes. 😂 Unfortunately, I wear a size 18, so that might be easier said than done!

Even if the shoes don't work out, they invited me onto their podcast, and I had a blast doing my first interview. I think it turned out pretty well!

If you'd like to hear more about me, my weight-loss journey, my mental health journey, and my mission to clean up Oklahoma, the podcast is on my YouTube channel.

Thanks again to everyone who's been suggesting cleanup spots. I seriously appreciate all the support. ❤️

I've been struggling for years. Walking and therapy are the key :)

I don't post here very often, but I wanted to share something that's been helping me in case someone else needs to hear it.

At the beginning of this year, I was over 500 pounds. My mental health was in a really rough place. I was dealing with depression, anxiety, and ADHD, and most days I felt like I was just surviving instead of actually living.

For a long time I thought therapy was supposed to magically "fix" me. It didn't.

What it did do was help me tear down a wall I'd built in my own mind. It helped me challenge the stories I kept telling myself—that I would fail anyway, that I wasn't worth the effort, or that there was no point in trying.

Around the same time, I started walking.

At first it wasn't anything impressive. Just putting one foot in front of the other. Some days I didn't want to go. Some days I only walked because I promised myself I would.

Now walking has become more than exercise. It's where I think. It's where I process emotions. It's where I clear my head.

Recently I started bringing a trash bag with me and picking up litter while I walk. It gives me a sense of purpose beyond losing weight. It feels good knowing I leave a place a little better than I found it.

Therapy didn't magically change my life. Walking didn't magically change my life either.

But together, they've helped me slowly change myself.

I'm still a work in progress. I still have bad days. But for the first time in a long time, I actually feel hopeful about the future.

If you're struggling, you don't have to change your whole life overnight. Sometimes the first step really is just... taking a step.

Thanks for reading. I hope you're all doing okay.

Spent the morning cleaning up some parks with my daughter. Thanks for inspiring me to be a better person guy!

Today my daughter and I spent the morning visiting 4 children's parks in Midwest City, Oklahoma to pick up litter.

We ended up walking about 3 miles and filled around 2 bags of trash. It wasn't the worst litter I've seen, but every bottle, wrapper, and can we picked up is one less thing kids have to play around.

One of my favorite parts of this journey has been getting my daughter involved. We get to spend time together, get some exercise, and hopefully leave places a little better than we found them.

If this inspires even one person to pick up a few pieces of trash on their next walk, I'd call today a success. Thanks for reading. ❤️

Picking up trash in children's parks in mwc today!

Huge thanks to u/Ok-Amoeba5042 for suggesting I clean up some children's parks!

Today my daughter and I visited 4 parks in Midwest City and picked up around 2 bags of trash while walking just over 3 miles.

Every little bit helps, and hopefully the next family that visits gets to enjoy a cleaner park.

I'm working my way through all the community suggestions, and my list is starting to shrink. If you know of a park, trail, roadside, creek, or other area around the OKC metro that could use some love, drop it in the comments!

Thanks again to everyone who's been following along and sending suggestions. You all are making this project a lot more fun. 💚

Just sharing my journey as of late :)

I think I accidentally found a hobby that's changing my life.

Back in January I was over 500 pounds. I started walking because I knew I had to do something. Eventually I added weightlifting, started therapy, and things slowly began to click.

A few weeks ago I had this random thought while I was out walking.

"If I'm already out here... why not bring a trash bag?"

So now I spend my walks picking up litter. It's kind of become my favorite part of the day.

People stop to talk, kids wave, strangers say thank you, and every now and then someone joins me for a few minutes. It's funny how cleaning up a place you've never been can make you feel connected to it.

I'm nowhere near my goal weight yet, but I don't think this journey is just about losing weight anymore. It feels like I'm slowly rebuilding the person I want to be.

Has anyone else stumbled into a hobby completely by accident that ended up changing your life?

Reddit user /deluxeok suggested I clean up at River sports okc!!

Huge shoutout to u/DeluxeOK for suggesting RIVERSPORT as a cleanup spot!

I could honestly spend all day out there. The place is beautiful. Most of the trash I found was along the water's edge where the water rises and then recedes, leaving litter behind. It's not really RIVERSPORT's fault—it's just the way the shoreline works.

The only suggestion I'd make is adding a few more trash cans near the water.

I'll try to edit the footage and post tomorrow!

Hey y'all!! Sooo I'm 6'8 420ish. Looking for shoe recommendations.

The title pretty much explains it. I wear size 18. I really can't find much for nice walking shoes in my size. Just seeing if y'all walking pros have some input for me. Thanks guy 😊

Reddit user troker61 requested a trash pickup at Arcadia!

Went out today telling myself I was only going to do 1 mile because of the heat... somehow that turned into 3. 😅

Had some awesome interactions with a group of Eagle Scouts, and one not-so-awesome interaction with a park supervisor.

Not sure if I'll be back to do cleanups at Arcadia, but there's plenty of other places that need some love.

On to the next spot! 🗑️💪

I'll try to post a little video later tonight explaining what happened.

Hey y'all, I'm trying to lose weight and clean up Oklahoma at the same time!!

Hey y'all. My name's Dusty. I'm 6'8" and started this year at a little over 520 pounds. I'm down around 420 now and walking has honestly changed my life.

So my brain had a stupid idea...

"What if I picked up trash while I walked?"

So now that's what I do. 😂

I've been filming my walks around Oklahoma while picking up litter. My goal is to lose weight, clean up places that need it, and hopefully make a few people laugh.

I'd love to hit different towns around Oklahoma, so if you know of a park, trail, or roadside that's gotten pretty rough, let me know.

Also, if the mods are okay with it, can I post my socials in the comments? A few people have asked where to follow along, but I definitely don't want to step on any toes or break the rules.

Hey! I'm trying to lose weight and clean up the environment at the same time!

Hey y'all. Here is my latest adventure. Would love some feed back. I just ordered a fancy trash grabber! My main set up is like a modified gorilla cart that ties to my waist so I can carry my water and a trash can. I look like a goof for sure. But I think it's so fun honestly 😂

Hey y'all! Noob detrasher here!

Hey y'all, I'm wondering if y'all could link me some of y'all's favorite trash grabbers. I'm trying to get on y'all's level! I use y'all a lot. My bad.

Hey y'all decided to leave Oklahoma a little cleaner Everytime I go for a walk :)

Hey y'all! My name's Dusty.

I've been on a weight-loss journey for a while now. I'm 6'8", currently around 410 lbs, and started at about 520. I've been doing a ton of walking, and I figured... why not make the places I'm walking a little cleaner too?

This weekend I was in Guthrie picking up trash, and I'd love to start visiting different towns around Oklahoma, filming my walks and cleaning up litter along the way.

If the admins are cool with it and people are interested, I'd be happy to share my socials down the road. No pressure—I just thought it'd be fun to share the journey.

Thanks, y'all! 🙂
