Say goodbye: Popular burger chain quietly closing 300+ stores nationwide (Wendy’s)

What the article failed to mention is that Wendy’s plans to open 1,000 new restaurants internationally. The places they are closing in the USA are underperforming.

Wendy’s post taken down on WSB

I posted a screenshot of a trade on Wendy’s (bought) on WSB and it was taken down. The post followed the community rules: it was over $25K trade and I provided reasons (listed below) for the trade. Was it removed because it was suspected spam?

Why I bought more Wendy's:
The next earnings report will come out August 14
which I think will show more the Wendy's turnaround plan.
I want to see what the new CEO and CFO will say in the next few months (they were very successful in turning around previous companies).
Wendy's is paying down their debt every quarter so far.

I am holding Wendy’s for the long term

It will likely beat earnings in the second quarter (next earnings report is August 14).
If the company keeps paying down debt, increasing revenue, and expanding abroad, this will be a good long term value buy.

Institutions that bought Wendy’s in the first quarter 2026:

Two Sigma Investments
Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan Trust Fund
Fairfax Financial Holdings
Wells Fargo

Institutions and insider traders at the company are buying Wendy’s while it is cheap because they know it is very undervalued.

Its sticker price is $24 (fair value)
It’s margin of safety price is $12 (if you buy it on sale)
