So this is my current settings (ignore the file I know it's a high grain file most other anime don't even come close with grain).

I have all filters off and every anime is straight from the Blu Ray Disc (even the ones that have all episodes as one file and become a pain to split.

I am currently watching though season 2 of SAO and am noticing slight grain floating around objects. Of the first 5 episodes done It's been 520-730MB files which is fine, is there any setting worth changing other than tune grain and CQ?

(Tune grain noticeably bloats file size and from testing most the time I am better using a lower CQ for better overall quality)

Generally my goal is to keep the file size under 1GB per episode where I increase quality. And I am asking before I do all the anime I have 😂. The 540 in my queue is the rest of season 2 and live action movies that I seem to be fine on.

Is there a way to mute it? It just repeats back "showing results for ..." each time and It's entirely pointless but also very loud.

It shows up for nothing else luckily.

I've used media player but it's kind of slow and has issues with initially starting a video.

I've tried browser in edge but it transcodes everything with subtitles because blurays have PGS subtitles.

Any advice on other clients or if there is a way to get edge to play pgs subtitles?.

Most things are in H265, with some AV1, and H264 for dvds as the firestick can't play MPEG-2.

All as MKV files with the subtitles in the file.

So following the naming guide and TVDB's episode order why do movies still not pull metadata correctly when under specials with the correct names?

Is there a fix/ better way to name them in the same folders? or do I need to make several collections with all of these?

The most recent is my SAO collection I only have 2 of the movies.

Edit - TVDB was not enabled for the folder, I'm guessing I reloaded or disabled plug-ins at some point as I enabled it when I setup the folder.

I have used both a good amount and had small issues with both though that's probably not surprising.

AV1 my first use I had all my files too small and they looked bad, H265 I have been fighting grain moving around objects that are moving.

These are my settings for both:
H265 10bit CRF 20 Slower Main 10 Encoder level 5.1 And the following - no-sao:strong-intra-smoothing=0:rect=0:aq-mode=1:rd=4:psy-rd=1.0:psy-rdoq=4.0:rdoq-level=1:rskip=2

AV1 10bit CRF 22 (I previously used 24 and 26 for anime which looked blurry) preset 4 profile and level auto. And the following film-grain-denoise=0:film-grain=6:enable-tf=0:enable-qm=1:qm-min=0:

I cannot remember where I got the AV1 recommended advanced stuff from.

I was wondering if anyone knows what would be best to try changing for the gain floating in h265?

All files for above were done from the blu ray remuxes straight from the discs I have.

Separately I have tried a bit of 4k to both of them but the changes are H265 CRF 22 at slow with this addional part changed aq-mode=3:rd=4:psy-rd=2.0:psy-rdoq=6.0 and AV1 CRF 24 (currently going to see the results)

I have a few of them in the UHD but the file sizes just seem bizarre, I had a 5GB and a 13GB file form the same settings but the runtime difference is a matter of 5-7 minutes.

The 4k films being spiderman 3 (13.7GB), the amazing spider man 1 (4.93GB) & 2 (13.3GB). I know TAS1 is a lot darker than 2 but I wasn't expecting that big of a difference. File sizes as windows says under items selected.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Using a 9800x3d so the encode FPS for 4k seems to be currently around 14-16fps across both types but AV1 definitely uses the CPU more.

I have the amove device, with the 12500t.

I have the base 256GB ssd m.2, a 2nd 4TB nvme and I am trying to make use of the sata, whether that be a 1TB HDD or SSD.

The HDD was having issues with infinite start up.

And the SSD is having issues with showing 2x it's storage, not formatting.

Neither drive have issues on other computers.

They both work fine with a sata to usb adapter.

I have tried replacing the sata connector too.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have an m90q gen 3 (I think) uses ddr5 and is the 12500T.

I have been trying to use the sata connector but it doesn't let me use the ssd. The ssd works fine via usb adapter.

Could this be a faulty connector or is the device not compatable?

(Edited to correct it is an m80q gen 3, can't adjust the headding)

So I've been making my own digital copies of my blurays and never had so many issues as the Death Note Series (2006 anime).

I have the UK release and the US release on disc due to the different issues.

The UK has syncing issues and extra files messing things up and the US just seems to be missing the title subtitles.

Anyone know where I can download synced subtitles for signs and songs/on screen text?

I intend on keeping both audio tracks so I would love to not be missing these for playback. I can't even take the ones off the UK disc as the timings are different.
