It’s not even that the tasks are hard. It’s just the knowing that they are there. I’ll spend 4 hours stressing about a task that takes 20 minutes to finish.

I’ve tried Pomodoro, I’ve tried Notion, I’ve tried everything. I think I’ve finally realized that "self-discipline" is a myth for people like me. I literally need external pressure. Like, if I don't check in with someone and show them proof I did the work, it just doesn't happen. Does anyone else feel "broken" like this? How do you guys add stakes to your day so you don't just drift?

I’d make plans for the day, feel motivated for a few hours, then end up wasting time scrolling or procrastinating and repeating the same cycle again.

What I noticed is that motivation itself honestly doesn’t help much. Watching productivity videos or reading quotes gives a temporary boost, but after a day or two I go back to old habits.

Recently me and a few other people started doing daily accountability check-ins where we share goals, track progress, and actually call each other out when we disappear or make excuses. It’s not really “motivational” in the usual sense it’s more about structure and having people who expect you to follow through.

We also started using a simple goal tracking page because keeping everything in random chats became messy.

Surprisingly, this has helped me more than most self-improvement stuff I’ve tried online because there’s actual pressure to stay consistent instead of just relying on motivation.
