Note: not my chart, just using it as an example since I've literally never seen this before and I'm scratching my head trying to figure out how to size up these dignities.

So first, we have an extremely close triple planet cazimi that is receiving a superior square ray from Saturn and a sextile ray from Mars. These are all very close aspects. Now, I know that the cazimi itself is maltreated by the superior square from a malefic planet (Saturn), but would this also be an instance of malefic enclosure?

As you can see, Mars shoots a sextile ray to 14°46 Aries, while Saturn's square ray hits 13°38 Aries. In between these two rays we have the cazimi. Now, normally, the presence of multiple planets would disrupt the effect of enclosure by intervention. But in this case, because both Venus and Mercury are in the heart of the Sun (very much in the heart of the heart I would say), could we really say that they are in a position to actually intervene to disrupt the enclosure?

I guess another way to ask this question is whether Venus and Mercury have the capacity to act independently of the Sun when they are in such a close cazimi, or really a cazimi in general? I would tend to think not, but if this is the case, then it means the cazimi itself must be subject to malefic enclosure. And in this case it’s a very significant issue because it’s the difference between having all three of these planets maltreated by enclosure vs none of them (although the superior square continues to apply regardless). Thank you!

This has got to be one of the most widely despised cards in the deck, but I think it's quite often misunderstood. Normally, the interpretation is that someone has surreptitiously gotten away with something. Someone lied, stole, cheated, etc. and is being deceptive about it. Other interpretations are that it's simply a card reflecting calculation, cunning, and strategy. In reverse, it's often interpreted as someone getting caught red handed or somehow not getting away with whatever they were trying to do, poor strategy etc.

Now, this is certainly a possibility. After all, the figure, with a grin, is running away from a battle camp with an armful of swords. But note - swords. He's not carrying pentacles or cups. So there is a distinctly cerebral, logical aspect to it, being part of this suit.

And swords are sharp. They are weapons of battle. So by stealing them, it suggests the goal is to disarm someone or something. Still surreptitiously, of course, but also implying a need to somehow get some sort of upper hand in a situation. And that may not even be a bad thing... maybe the swords he's stealing belong to really bad people.

But regardless, the figure did not achieve his objective. He may think he's being cunning, but this was a poorly thought out and poorly executed plan. He wasn't able to collect all of the swords, since two of them are still there. He doesn't even seem to notice the swords he left behind. He's holding them in a really awkward way, the ends directed precisely at his foot, which is kind of silly when you think about it. He's not watching where he is going, and is about to trip over everything because he's not being careful.

So, I tend to look at this card even upright as a failure of sorts. A shortcut that did not or will not achieve its intended goal. Trying to do things the easy way. Maybe at first you think it worked, but then it all falls apart or you realized you missed something important by trying to take shortcuts.

As such, I read this card in reverse as actually a bit more positive. Perhaps backtracking, going back and doing things the right way, not the easy way. Asking for help. Realizing maybe you don't need to keep everything to yourself and try to do everything on your own, if you aren't able to do it effectively.

It doesn't mean the conventional sorts of interpretations couldn't be accurate, especially with additional context from other cards. But I think it's sometimes worth looking into the deeper symbolism here. Just my random rambling thoughts on a Wednesday evening 😄

Some readers associate this card with Scorpio / (Mars/Pluto) while others attribute it to Uranus. I can see both perspectives but to me, the Tower feels distinctly more Uranian.

The card implies a shocking, disruptive event. The chaotic imagery of the card doesn’t necessarily imply that such an event is in any way pleasant, although I know some do read this card in a positive light depending on the context.

Nevertheless, the Tower does not necessarily reflect something profoundly transformative in the same way that the Death card does. It seems to me to describe something coming quickly out of left field which requires an immediate response, and which can alter the course of one’s timeline depending on how it’s dealt with. This is very much of the nature of Uranus. While the figures in this card are obviously falling out of the Tower and are distraught, we do not know if they are falling to their deaths or if they will survive.

So I don’t really see the card as implying an automatic need for a death and rebirth process although I can certainly see how the Tower could trigger that in some circumstances. But it doesn’t feel overall Scorpionic to me. Anyway, what are your thoughts?
