Does anyone know if UTK custodial and janitorial services are hiring? I’m good at that type of work and genuinely enjoy that nature of labor, I’d really like to do that as I have a lot of free time on campus and I’m always down there anyway for the gym, low cost food and free water.
I emailed them, but have not heard back, should I go in person tomorrow while I’m on campus?

Hi, my name is Emma Turner
Most of you have met me but not many of you know me.
I work at Volbooks, I’ve handed almost every one of you a textbook since the start of the of the semester, and I appreciate all of you who I got to talk to, you’re all amazing folks with bright futures.

Today something happened that really disappointed me, a girl posted asking for help moving, offering pay and genuinely looking for help when she had no idea where to turn.
She was immediately flamed in the comments being called a liar, a scammer and being accused of trying to pull one over on yall.
Nobody inquired about the job before assuming she had an ulterior motive, so I’m going to provide some context you didn’t ask for. (I won’t share any private details for respect of the student)

I got to meet her today, she came down to Volbooks and is in fact a real person who needs help. The girl who wrote this post is young and she’s trying to move out of a not so great neighborhood tmr by four, she had help who flaked on her and didn’t know where to look next, she was offering good pay and even lunch and water for anyone who would show up to help.

I will be there tomorrow at 10:30am and a few of my friends are going too. dm me for details if you’d like to help us, I will do anything you ask to prove that i am a real person, I’m not an alternate account or a bot trying to work a scam, I don’t know how to prove that in this day and age. I just want to get help for my friend and get the job done smoothly tomorrow.

Please live up to the people that I’ve always thought you were and the definition of being a Volunteer, and thank you for taking the time to read my post.
And especially thank you to the students that I get to talk to every day when I’m at work at Volbooks handing out textbooks, selling calculators and helping you guys access your course codes.

Good morning, I feel that I really need some advice today. To start off, I am autistic and I have a very difficult time wording things in a mature and calm way, especially when I am upset, and I need to confront a friend who hurt my feelings without hurting our friendship. This has been my closest friend for 3 years since I started my job, and he is one of the ONLY people I trust and will actually open up to and don’t have to mask for. But anyways:

Yesterday at work we were talking together like always and i expressed the frustration and upset I was feeling when we were doing a task that involved counting quantities of products that were spoiled and had to be scanned and tossed out (or foods that were just getting close to over date and needed to be donated to FISH). This task was confusing for me involving the different steps I needed to do everything in and after asking multiple people including himself multiple times, nobody would give me a full and helpful explanation of the order I needed to do everything in to keep everything running smoothly. In the end I screwed it up and the frustration of the entire team was passively aggressively directed at me (you know it’s obvious when even ME WITH NO EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE can read a person’s mood).

Back to me trying to explain this to my friend: I expressed in what I was confident was a clear, concise but descriptive way of opening up my emotions of how upset and frustrated I was that i couldn’t get the explanation I needed to finish the task. He brushed me off, he kind of laughed at me and he didn’t even bother to say he was sorry that had upset me, ask me if I was okay, or even offer to explain things in a better way in the future despite that being what I was obviously asking for.
I was super hurt because I never EVER open up and tell people how I “feel” about things, so it took a lot for me to do that. I was left really upset and confused and so i never said anything.

I desperately need advice on how i can bring this up again without seeming silly or immature and especially not rude or petty, but i need closure, I just need him to understand.
