5 months gone now, but it's not any easier.

My service dog of 10 years Yamas left me last December, and I'm still missing him daily. I got him as soon as I left the Army, and he worked miracles for my PTSD, at my side 24-7 for 10 years and 4 months. I'm having a REALLY hard time adjusting to life without him, and praying he is safe and happy across the bridge. My beliefs about the afterlife have had to change, as I cannot bear the thought of him not waiting for me when I eventually get to fiddler's green myself. He was TRULY the goodest boy of them all.

I have been doing ketamine treatments for almost 5 years now. And just had leg surgery last Thursday. I do not respond well to opiates (they severely aggravate my PTSD), and as a result the surgeon prescribed Journovax, a new non-opiate sodium channel blocking painkiller introduced in 2025. The USP lists a moderate interaction between Ketamine and Journovax, but having just done a 1000mg. troche treatment that should have sent me to the moon ans back, but felt absolutely nothing, I can fully attest that Journovax completely blocks any disassociative effects of ketamine. The rub is. It actually works well for pain too. I am left in a place where I now must choose between the pain relief and the PTSD relief, as having both is impossible with this combination.

I expect that many more doctors will be moving to prescribe Journovax in the future, as it is non narcotic and effective for acute pain, but many of us that use Keramine therapeutically do so because of it's efficacy for comotbidities of pain and mental health. Journovax is incompatible with this. It's not only ONLY for pain. It takes away the ability of ketamine to treat mental health if it is taken.

It's not time for a wash period from ketamine, but it looks like I'm taking one anyway. I just wish it had been voluntary, as life is effing with my PTSD badly right now
