Deadline Games' Cancelled Killing Pablo Escobar Concept Arts (Part-2)

Killing Pablo Escobar was an ambitious game in development by Deadline Games during 2007. The game was directly based on the book Killing Pablo by the author Mark Bowden, which chronicles the real-world rise and fall of Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar. Players were set to take on the role of Colonel Martinez. The central mission focused on leading a special team to dismantle the Medellín cartel and hunt down Escobar.

It was designed to feel like a realistic, squad-based tactical action game, combining the open-world elements seen in Deadline's previous title Total Overdose with team-based cooperation. The developers aimed for a distinct "news documentary" aesthetic. It utilized visual overlays, hand-held over-the-shoulder camera angles, 1980s-style film grain, and realistic desaturated color palettes.

The project was planned to be released on Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. Ultimately it was canceled before completion due to a lack of resources, and it vanished entirely when the studio filed for bankruptcy and closed down in May 2009.

If you love Half-Life, check out Jeepy's "Half-Life Oddities" series

Jeepy, a passionate Half-Life content creator and speedrunner, has started a series called "Half-Life Oddities," where he explores the interesting details behind every chapter of Half-Life.

He covers fascinating discoveries, weird shenanigans, bugs and glitches, speedrunning tricks, cut content, and behind-the-scenes context. He's done a fantastic job highlighting the little details in each chapter, and it's clear he's put a lot of research and effort into making these videos both informative and entertaining.

Today, he uploaded a new video covering "On A Rail" chapter, and there are more to come.

If you're interested in Half-Life trivia, hidden discoveries, or learning more about the game, I highly recommend watching the series from the beginning.

I really hope Insomniac does better with Wolverine and Marvel's Spider-Man 3.

Marvel's Wolverine looks good and many people are excited. From everything we've seen and heard so far, it has the potential to be something special, and Insomniac has already proven that they can make great superhero games. At the same time I have been seeing people being skeptical and a bit pessimistic about the game, given the reception of Marvel's Spider-Man 2. While the game was still successful and many players loved it, there were also plenty of criticisms regarding things like pacing, story decisions, side content, post-launch support, features that some people felt were missing, and it's just that they could've done better with the game. It didn't live up to the expectations. Of course, there was also a lot of criticism that felt exaggerated or unfair hate, especially online where negativity tends to spread quickly. Spider-Man 2 was still a solid game!

But I think some fans have lost a bit of trust in Insomniac and became more cautious about Wolverine and even Spider-Man 3. Now it feels like people are willing to question the studio's decisions more than they used to.

Personally I am optimistic. I don't think one game that didn't fully meet everyone's expectations erases Insomniac's track record and their talent. Every studio has hits and misses, and Insomniac is still one of the industry's most accomplished studios, and Wolverine has the potential to be something very different from Spider-Man.

I'm hoping Wolverine has a strong, focused story, and takes full advantage of its darker tone. Hopefully it ends up being a great game and gives people more confidence in Insomniac going forward. And hopefully when Spider-Man 3 eventually arrives, it builds on what worked while improving the areas that fans criticized, and just be a major improvement over the previous games.

What do you all think? Has Spider-Man 2 affected your confidence in Insomniac? Are you skeptical about Wolverine? Or are you optimistic and on board?

Edit: Some people seem to be interpreting this as a hate post toward Insomniac or Spider-Man 2 and thinking that I am just"complaining", which isn't my intention at all. I liked Spider-Man 2 and I'm optimistic about Wolverine. I'm simply discussing how the game's reception may have influenced some people's expectations for future Insomniac titles and whether the studio can build on both its successes and criticisms moving forward.

So some people had a problem with Wolverine's cowl, and one person made an edit of it.

Edit made by @SketchDasher on Twitter.

Honestly, it looks better imo. But what do you guys think?

Edit: Guys I never had any problem with the suit and I know there are alternate suits to try in the game. I just wanted to show this edit, and know your thoughts on it.

Just played and finished Max Payne 2 for the first time, and it was an thrilling and phenomenal experience!

Even though I have played and finished the first game multiple times, I never played the second game. I finally decided to play it. Bought the game from Steam, downloaded some fixes and I started playing it. And it was amazing! I enjoyed it and I can tell how much this game improved upon the first one. Graphically and visually it looks better and the gameplay is more refined and smooth. The enemies are slightly more competent and the combat feels less punishing, and I never felt like I was losing all my ammo for my weapons and it just felt balanced. The story is also good and special in its own way and there are nice memorable moments, not to mention the iconic voice of James McCaffrey (Rest in Peace).

Tho I won't say which game is better, I do still prefer the atmosphere and story of the first game mainly because of its introduction and I'm not really into love story. But in the end, it was an amazing game and for a game released in 2003, it holds up!

This game has only made me look forward more to the remakes and what Remedy will do!
