Should I buy an XBOX?

Greetings gamers,

It's TAX season in Aus which I've just lodged, and I should be getting a decent chunk of change back. Yay! ^_^

I was going to upgrade my PC (RX 580X, 3700X, 16GB DDR4), but I'm in my 30's now and I don't enjoy the PC experience the same as I used to and it's incredibly expensive to upgrade; I don't trust second-hand hardware, either.
I would of course still play certain games on PC where it makes sense like CRPGs and Shooters.

I do have a small collection (50) of XBOX 360 games which would be cool to play on new hardware. Not sure how much life my XBOX 360 has left.

I am happy to pay for Game Pass Core for multiplayer access, but I don't care for the rest of the service. I don't have an Ally, and I would rather just buy my games, so I would effectively be paying for nothing.

I would like to begin collecting physical media again, but it sounds like Xbox is following suit with Sony, so I'm unsure if it's wise to invest and that makes me hesitant to buy an XBOX.

Has anyone else switched from PC to console or switched from PlayStation to XBOX?
What has been your experience?

Alternatively, would it be better to buy a PS5/Pro? Again, not sure if it's wise given the current controversy surrounding Sony.

I have never been so conflicted about gaming, tbh.

GOG Appreciation Post! Switched from PlayStation to PC.

Hii all.

Due to Sony's shenanigans regarding physical media and the constant price increases for PS+, I have recently sold my PS5 and used the money to upgrade my PC; 7700 XT, 5700X, 32GB DDR4.

I've always played PC here or there, but only through Steam. The past few days I've been using GOG, and I should have begun using it a lot sooner. There are so many great games on there!

Obvious DRM stuff aside, it has classics that I played as a kid and never thought I'd see again and it also has a much wider library than what I was expecting, though there are still some games that I would love to see make their way to the platform, eventually. It also has a feature that I quiet appreciate and consider underrated, and that is the ability to disable achievements.

Honestly, I'm going to buy all of my games on GOG if they're available from now on.

How do you feel about playing old games?

Hello.

I haven't played games since 2012 due to mental health and later, an abusive relationship, but I have recently built a decent PC with a 7700 XT, 7700X and 16GB DDR5, thus I'm starting to play games again at the behest of my psychologist.

Currently I'm playing Hogwarts Legacy and Battlefield 6; both gifted to me by a friend to get me started.

Anyway, the point of my post is, I'm browsing the Steam sale looking at getting some games and I'm realising just how much I've missed out on and I feel like it's too late to play anything, say pre 2020, so what's the point?

Maybe I'm just overwhelmed, but does anyone else feel a similar way or is it just me?

Bought Dante's Inferno today for $3.

I've never played this before. Got it for $3 from my local CEX Exchange.

Tell me about your experience with XBOX Series X. Considering switching from PC.

Hii all.

I'm a PC gamer, and have been since 2013 with the launch of the Xbox One, and I would like to read your experience with the XBOX Series X, and if you feel it's worth investing in the brand.

My PC is due for an upgrade and it's nearing tax-time in Aus, but the PC market is incredibly expensive at the moment, and the older I get (in my 30's), I enjoy the PC experience less and less.

I grew up on XBOX/360 and still have my collection, and I'm considering purchasing a Series X, instead of upgrading my PC, and maybe an Ally X in the future.

Has anyone else done this? What has been your experience?

I have an Elite 2 which I use on PC, so using a controller isn't an issue.

I'm not sure if I would remain digital or begin collecting physical media again. I don't care for Gamepass, and I would continue playing multiplayer games on PC to avoid paying a sub.

I am a little hesitant, hence this post, because we don't know what the XBOX brand will look like in a year. Maybe I should just wait for Helix?

Greetings, gamers.

Over the last fifteen years, depression has reduced my relationship with video games to something... shallow. I still played, but only within a limited, familiar catalogue, so I have missed out on a lot. I didn't lose connection with games entirely, as I did with other hobbies, but I did lose whatever instinct once made the medium feel expansive. What had once felt immersive, transporting, and restorative gradually became monotonous.

I have spent my life believing I was depressed, but I was recently diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder and Complex PTSD. With the appropriate treatment, I have gained not only stability but also the slow return of attention, curiosity, and, dare I say, passion.

That return began with Capcom’s Pragmata.

It was the first game in a long while that reminded me what it feels like to be fully absorbed by something — to be engaged by it mechanically, affected by it emotionally, and left thinking about it after the credits roll.

It is the first time in a long while that something has made me want to write again. I have a review coming from the perspective of an estranged parent, and I look forward to sharing it with you all soon.

For now, I am happy to be a part of a community once again.

Please, I would love some recommendations.

Hello.

Last week, I shared my reintroduction to the world of comics, and I just wanted to share the latest addition to the beginning of my collection.

Absolute Wonder Woman was recommended to me several times, and whilst I intended to buy Superman: Birthright this week, I figured I would get AWW instead, so I have something of the big three, so to speak.
