Ready to plant?

This galbra x variabilis has been kept dry on a shelf all winter and has recently started to grow. With almost a month until spring, would you plant this yet?

Since they like to be dry when dormant I just worry about rotting.

Second picture is what it looked like when I got it, as you can see it has changed since then

Thanks!

What will happen to it?

Dracontium croatii new growth that’s about 4 inches tall was bitten in half by what I think was a possum :(

How do you believe the plant will react?

What is this white, fungus-like growth?

Little white specks all over my tuber that break apart upon contact. The tuber is kept completely dry and I noticed these here only recently, they were not there a few weeks ago.

Does anyone know what they are?

You can only get one. What are you getting?

Pictures are from the Floraquest website in Australia

Shipwrecked in Novrémar

This is a pre-determined plot line based on a novel of mine. Set in the fictional land of Kærst.

Immerse yourself in the shoes of Calloway, a naive yet determined young man caught in the fray of a brutal shipwreck, who must navigate dangerous plains & forests to reach his wife, Maria. From roving packs of Kærstic Lions to the roaring rapids of the Avaces, your journey is sure to be fraught with danger.
Will you reach your distraught lover deep in the heart of Kingwood, or will you fall victim to the harsh land of Novrémar?

The cover image is an original work by me; the northern coast is where this story takes place.

The Milanese Dominion, 1429AD

Born out of a lack of medieval Italian scenarios.

From the narrow streets of Milan's stone quarters to the rolling hills of its hinterlands, every inch of its surface is etched with art, ambition, and war. Compact fortresses perch high upon every hill, overlooking the endless vineyards and tumultuous markets, while villages sprawl through the winding valleys, flanked by noble towers standing like knights on watch.
Farm soils as a low-born or besiege castles as a mercenary lord. Medieval Italy opens one up to a swathe of possibilities and lets a determined commoner rise.

Characters in the cover are Lord Andreo Borromeo the Leper & Lady Lauretta Borromeo.

New EP specimen release acclimating

This is an N. truncata ‘Giant’ x lowii ‘Mt. Murud’ that was just released here in Australia by Exotica Plants. It was purchased from Flora Quest and is still in stock as I post this.

We’re expecting it to be a bit different than the famous lowii x truncata, less Lowii influence and probably a bit more size. The Mt. Murud locality has near-black pitchers with massive lid bristles, so this should be an interesting hybrid.

Is this size normal for a maxima x veitchii?

I’ve had this specimen for a few years and never had an official ID, after some searching I decided it looks like a maxima x veitchii. However, this new growth is massive, almost a meter across. I’m unsure if this hybrid can get this big, because mine sure hasn’t before

The pitchers are about 18-22cm, which sounds about right.
Thanks!

Spider Farmer or Vivosun?

Looking into getting a grow tent, lighting, ventilation, etc. do you prefer Vivosun products or Spider Farmer?

Any Australians have experience with Flora Quest?

There are very few places to buy Nepenthes in Australia, and this website claims to be a future EP distributor and their stock is impressive.

However, I’ve never heard of them, they have very little online presence, and they use AI images on their page and I believe in their Nepenthes descriptions too.

Has anyone bought from them before? I have concerns that they may not be legit.

Too much light?

Just put these 2 Neps about 40cm under a 10w Sansi LED light with a reflector dome.

I don’t have a PPFD sensor, so I was wondering if you think this looks fine on a glance?

Why’s my hamata hybrid dying?

Can anybody diagnose what’s wrong with my hamata hybrid? It gets nights down to 14 degrees, days at 24. Humidity around 60%. I got it a few months ago, it had initial transplant shock but seemed to do fine. Now it’s just slowly deteriorating

Thank you

Non-waterproof ventilation fans

How do you guys ventilate your grow tents, tanks and such? I’m looking at getting 120mm computer fans, but given the tank will be misted constantly, I’m worried about breaking the fans or setting off the safety switch on my house, since I do not belief they are waterproof

Thank you

Soil heating cables

Has anyone had experience with putting heating cables in or around the pots of Amorphs? Where I live the nights get down to 8 degrees Celsius so I’m looking at heating options

Thanks

Too cramped?

Self explanatory, do you think this little greenhouse is too cramped? I’ve put some of my more valuable seedlings in here (alisaputrana, veitchii bario, Attenboroughii hybrids, etc) and don’t want to risk anything.

I’ve never grown Nepenthes inside so I don’t know if they are effected negatively by being squashed in

Thanks!

Does this WIP look good to you?

I’ve been struggling to continue with this project for awhile as I’m not sure if it is visually appealing. I aimed to include lots of minute detail and areas that lend themselves towards storytelling rather than appearance on a map.

Now I’m just deciding if it’s worth finishing or not, as if it does not look good, no amount of storytelling capability will render it a success to me.

Your input would be greatly appreciated

Blooms or leaves?

These two corms are both flowering size and they have much larger growth tips than all my other plants this time of the year (third pic for reference of what the rest look like)

Could these be blooms? The first plant is a borneensis x variabilis (10 years old, 20cm) and the second one is a titanum x cv John Tan x lambii (5 years old, 10.5cm)
