Corpse flow collection rewarded me with the first bloom of a species I have had for over 10 years - am. krausei - giant form! Maybe a day or two to go but so far the smell is fairly mild.
Probably not gonna be producing much for the corm this year but hey, at least it's trying!
With no lights beside the two spots the bloom is just perfect
the day has finally arrived, our inflo is open. The final height is 219 cm from a bulb weighing 23 kg at the last repot.
I'm happy to report that while being.... unusual, the smell isn't that intense (yet).
Does it smell? I’ve been wanting to buy one but every time i search up if it smells it’s a mix of people saying that it smells like rancid cheese and some other people saying that it smells like vodka and melons, while some people also say that it doesn’t even smell.
Hey all,
Pic for attention. I've been keeping an eye out for A.ongaskulii for some time now and never seen one come into stock anywhere. I'm wondering if there are any private growers that would share even just the one bulb with me. I'm an orchid grower almost exclusively, but I do love the look of these lil guys.
The first has two growths and is about 3’ tall.
The second one has 7 growths and is much bigger.
Came outside to find one of the branches broken, looks like it's starting to yellow. I typically just let these plants do whatever, I'm not actually sure what's best here. Should I trim it off? Apply something like sulfur? Also, is it something I did? Wasn't sure if my care was lacking or if a mammal or bird jumped on it. It feels firm so I don't think it rotted at least.
This is our A. titanum pushing out a bloom where I work. Based on the growth rate it should open in about one or two weeks.
I want to try out growing amorphophallus but I have neighbors that will for sure get angry if something smelly is in the area. What are some good cheap, non smelly, varieties + where to get them
Where is Waldo the bulb? There is one hiding here ;). I just love how illegally smol they are
I got these plants last year as corms and the differences were noticeable as soon as the leaves emerged. One has a green petiole and the other is pink. The green one is lightly spotted but the pink one is heavily spotted.
The leaves also look slightly different to me.
The corms are the same size, about 3-3.5” diameter.
I apologize in advance for my relatively poor photos. I didn’t realize how bad they were until I starting writing this post.
Thought my other bulbs were too small to flower. Guess I am lucky.
Sauromatum venosum
See title. Something ate one of my new konjacs. These are my first foray into amorphophalis, mostly an aroid guy.
Any chance this one could re-leaf or should I just call. It and dig it up for the year?
Thanks
Wondering if anyone grows a Konjac here in Denver outdoors. I have one sitting outside, has been outside since it’s stayed above freezing and its leaf started emerging, and it’s sitting under a 50% shade cloth right now. The leaf has not begun to open yet but I have about an 8 inch start to one. I was wondering if it will be able to tolerate full sun at this hot, dry, intense altitude. I would love to take it out of the shade cloth so I can visually enjoy it more, but am nervous about crisping up my only leaf of the season. Anyone got experience or knowledge that could guide my decision?
First time growing an Amorphophallus and I got a bloom on my first time
I rather leaves but hey it did well!
Can't remember if it's konjac or paeoniifolius. The pot got knocked over the other day and the bruise is slowly growing. Is there anything I can do to stop it from dying back early?
