Unos "simples" huevos con patatas fritas.

Nuestra comida hoy.

When did you realize that what really mattered is practicing with the program, rather than watching so many videos and tutorials?

Hi!

Begginer user. I began from djing and for many time i had a hugh interest in techno music. When I was twenty years less, I hoped to compose my own tracks. Now I have the ableton Live 12 Suite version, but i still don't have any musical formation. I think that this is not a problem, because I readed that people like Luke Slater, Surgeon, Óscar Mulero, Psyk, PWCCA and more have no musical knowlewdge when they began.

The story is that i have been watching a lot of videos of the program and read the manual, but nothing of this teach to you to compose real music or perfectioning the use of the native instruments or sound effects.

When did you realize that what really matter is practicing with the program, rather than watching so many videos and tutorials?

Brian Eno's The Ending makes me cry

I heard this track at the end of the film Traffic many years ago. Some time later i bought the BSO, because i liked the themes of Cliff Martínez, but i did no remember that The Ending was in the collection. When I heard another time i enjoyed of having it.

The time passed and i usually listened this song many times. Then, i began to relate it with my father and his neurodegenerative illness. My father passed away few years later and i began to cry everytime i heard this track, and i found, that this was another way to remember my father too

Just a simple story, but many music can transport me to an emotional state or a kind of mind concentration.

Thanks for reading.

What do you think about this home made gluten free bread

Hi!

This is the gluten free bread that I make for my wife. She can't eat gluten. I´ve been baker in the past and applied my skills to make it with a poolish formule.

Questions?

Gracias!!

First step with Ableton Live 12, and one question

Hello community.

I just started with Ableton Live. I have no musical knowledge, I am just an amateur DJ who has always been fascinated by electronic and techno music. So I have started trying to compose and see if I can create something that I can use to mix in my sessions, so everything that may come after will already be a success for me.

I already imagined it before, but now I am seeing for myself that Ableton requires a long learning process to learn how it works, all the capabilities and versatility it has. I've been reading here that many of you have been using it for years and are still discovering things.

Starting from zero, I can't consider anything other than learning little by little and settling for putting together audio or MIDI clips, making them sound together or trying to build some basic sound like a kick or a drone.

The question I ask you is: What do you think is the correct process to compose a song, what steps would I have to take and in what order?

For example (I'm making this up): 1. define the structure it is going to have, how it should start and end if it is going to have gaps or drops. 2 Search and collect the sound clips you will have. 3. Put those clips together and start working with them in arrangement mode to develop the theme and how I want them to sound at all times. 4 move on to the mastering phase.

Thank you.

Essential DJ Skills

Hi!

That's the question,

In the past, with turntables, I think it was the skill to syncrhonice tracks by ear, but with the arrival of digital music and the development of the technology this is less important now.

Knowing that mixing by ear is a basic one, but you can use beatsync or visual aids, what do you think are the essentials DJ skills nowadays? For example, Make a perfect equalization? Can manage many decks? Use effects or loops? Know the operation of the devices that produce effects? or having any musical knowing to produce tracks?

Thanks.

Beatmatching, have you noticed this? tricks that are helping me.

Hello community!

Although I mix digital songs, I have always tried to make mixes by ear, to do so I cover the bpm indicator and avoid looking at any visual cues, but I recently bought a turntable to make mixes in physical format and face real mixing. The conclusion is that it is much more complicated to do this than with readers and digital music because you have to develop more skills and until you achieve it it can take a very variable time depending on what you practice and the interest with which you take it. I detail some tricks that are coming in handy for me and curiosities that I have realized while practicing.

  1. Headphones in both ears. With one ear the master sound and with the other the one I am going to mix. If your mixing console has separate listening capabilities, this allows you to concentrate more on the keys to synchronize the songs.

  2. In my case, it has worked better for me to pinch the pivot of the turntable axis and accelerate or slow down the record, than tapping with my fingers on the end of the platter or touching the vinyl.

  3. Use your dominant side to adjust the speed and fit the song. We all have a dominant side of the body. In my case it is the right. It is less expensive and faster to develop listening and haptic skills with the dominant side than with the one you use less.

  4. Take advantage of the fact that your brain works better if it does not have to communicate information between hemispheres. In relation to the previous point, our brain is divided into two hemispheres. If we listen through one ear and use the contralateral hand, we will be forcing our brain to communicate between hemispheres instead of transmitting information from the auditory cortex to the somatosensory cortex on the same side. If you listen to the cue with your right ear, make the adjustments on the record with your right hand, if you do it with your left it will cost you much more, you will even miss the beat more times.

I hope these little tricks help you and that you really enjoy putting them into practice.

Greetings!!

Muchas gracias!
