Koala Grey Margaux 15

Paired the koala grey Margaux 15 with a light outfit for the office today. I usually lay my laptop flat in the bottom of the bag and load stuff on top of it, but today I added an organizer. These bags kind of remind me of the old-timey doctor’s bags, but without a closure. They’re mostly just a big cavern inside, but I really enjoy this design for the office.

Steven 37 for the office

As much as I like a big slouchy bag, the compactness of this Steven 37 messenger bag is so great for the office. And while many luxury bags suffer from a shortage or complete lack of pockets, this has great organization and even a pocket on the outside back that’s perfect for my phones and security badge. Unfortunately it isn’t made anymore but there are second hand options out there.

Large Andiamo for work today

Grabbed the large Andiamo for work today. The braided strap doesn’t work for me as a crossbody bag, but I’ve found it works great on my shoulder.

Bowling 45 for the office

I generally like bigger bags but usually don’t carry something this bold to the office. But today I added an organizer to my Bowling 45 bag, loaded it up with my laptop and all the other stuff and considered it an exclamation point on a fairly boring outfit.

City contractors with political messages on vehicles

I walked past these two trucks today doing some work on behalf of the city I believe, either surveying or marking utility lines. I was surprised to see these emblems on their trucks. Is this sort of stuff allowed for city contractors? I realize it’s very subtle, but it seemed odd.

GLC 350e discontinued?

I stopped into my local dealership today to drive. GLC 300 SUV. I really want the 350e, but they didn’t have any in stock and I thought this would be a good way to see if the car fit my needs overall.

The salesman told me when I arrived that they “aren’t making any more 350e models” and that next year there will be an all electric GLC 400.

I specifically asked if there would be a GLC 350e in 2027 thinking maybe he was just saying the production run of 2026 models was done, but he dodged the question and pulled up a picture of the 400 on his computer even though it appeared to me there was a GLC 350e option in the 2027 drop down list.

I couldn’t find anything online about it going away. Any insight from the experts here?

This (Steven) or that (P9)

I saw this knit polo at Banana Republic and was sure it would be great with my Steven bag, but getting home and trying it on, I think the coffee bean P9 is the way to go. What say ye?

Dinner with the boys

As a widowed gay dad of a 7 year old, I don’t get a lot of nights out, but tonight I’m meeting friends at Capital Grille for their Generous Pour event If you don’t know about, look it up. It’s a years long tradition for this friend group.

I’m carrying the new-to-me sac a depeches 21 which is a perfect size for a daily carry of the essentials.

Cheers!

Hermes Steve

I’ve been working from home since May due to World Cup fan fest activities right outside my office, so I’m rarely putting on any more than just shorts and a t-shirt. I’m meeting a friend for breakfast this morning and then doing some Saturday running around and thought I’d make a bit of an effort today.

This bag is new to me and in fantastic condition. The Steve 37 holds my laptop and a ton of other stuff or can work as a simple messenger bag for a day of errands. The flap closure is secure, but there’s a slip pocket on the back for easy access to a phone or wallet. Overall, it’s a terrific piece.

Weekend errands

This bag is incredibly fiddly to get in and out of, so it doesn’t get as much use as a lot of others in my closet but every once in a while I pull it out.

Aiden does it again!

I’ve ordered several times with Aiden lately and he has never let me down.

I ordered this and another bag on May 22, got my PSPs on the 25th, and had the tracking number the next day. They both just arrived today (June 9th).

The P9 40 in Coffee Bean is from Royal and it’s absolutely lovely. The leather is incredibly soft and all the details seem just right!

The other bag was for a friend so I haven’t opened it. It’s the LV Georges MM and it’s the third I’ve ordered from him so I’m sure it’s as terrific as the first two. There’s a couple of images of my Georges bag I got a couple of months back attached as well.

Decant time for some new pickups (Shiyaaka Snow, Jungle Vibe, Intoxicate Mystique, Fantasme, Safari Breeze)

I (53M) broke my own rule and did some blind buying recently and came up with some winners.

These are all new within the last couple of weeks so they haven’t had much time to mature. I’m assuming performance will improve somewhat over the coming weeks. I make decants that I can throw in a bag and reapply if needed throughout the day.

Here are some quick thoughts on the fragrances.

Khadlaj Shiyaaka Snow (LV Meteore) — this is light and sparkly and quite floral with citrus notes. Earlier in my fragrance journey I would have thought this leaned too feminine but now I quite like it. Great for a summer day with a linen shirt.

Rayhaan Jungle Vibe (Dries Van Noten Santal Greenery) — this is very green with a sandalwood base. There’s a hint of sweetness from the fig that lifts the whole thing. Very wearable.

La Fede Intoxicate Mystique (Prada Paradigme) — this is the only one for which I’ve smelled the original. I love Prada Paradigme and think this is a very close approximation. It’s fresh and spicy and thick but uplifting.

Jean Lowe Fantasme (LV Imagination) — I have Marwa which is nice but very linear. This is the luxury soap and tea and it dries down to something creamy that Marwa never gets to. I’ll smell imagination one day but I can’t imagine it’s much better than this.

Safari Breeze (Memoirs of a Perfume Collector: Tales from Zanzibar) — this is so fruity. There’s guava and coconut and a hint of mint and some depth in the base. I can see this one being very polarizing and not everyone’s cup of tea, but I really like it.

New Bag

This beautiful bag arrived yesterday so I had to carry it today. The grey has more of a green undertone to my eye than I was expecting so it won’t be quite the neutral I think as expecting from a styling perspective, but it’s still gorgeous.

I find the Margaux 15 to be a great work bag. My laptop fits perfectly. And it’s easy to access anything in the bag. No zipper, but perhaps there’s a Marlo in my future.

Playing dress up

Some days I have to dress up for work. This LV Georges MM bag has quickly become a favorite for work. Capacious and stylish in one wonderful leather package.

I know the hardware looks good in the second pic, but it’s silver.

It’s the middle of spring, but still sweater weather. I tried to make the most of it and bring in some spring to today’s look with the light colored pants (they’re cream as opposed to the funky blue/green tinged color in the photo).

I wanted a briefcase type bag today to go into the office. I initially grabbed the Cisalpin document case which I like a lot and then I thought maybe the intrecciato briefcase might be a little bit better. Ultimately, I decided on the Cisalpin document case because I preferred the contrast it added to the look. What would you have picked?
