More rocks I’ve picked up in the fields of Minnesota, Oregon, Idaho, and Nebraska. LOVE each one of them for their own uniqueness. Plain rock with a little black pebble embedded? Keep! Rock that looks like a bird? Keep! Rock that has awesome layering? Keep! Rock that looks like a ball of gingersnap cookie dough? Keep!

County Fair Fish

Howdy All. My 7yo daughter wanted to do a ping pong carnival game at the local fair. $5 for 10 balls. Get 2 balls in and you get a small stuffy. My daughter gets 2 in and has 2 left. She’s asked if she wants to try to get a 3rd in and she wins a fish. She takes the bait so to speak. Well she sinks the 3rd. If she makes a 4th, she gets another fish. She misses.

To make a long story short, we have a fish who my 5yo named “Popcorn”.

The “tank” it came in is tiny. What I need help/advice with from this community:

What:

  1. size tank - do I need oxygen bubbler?
  2. kind of water goes in tank?
  3. food?
  4. accessories for happy fish?

Thank you for reading.

AZ, USA

Hello. I am wanting to get a little more information on this rock. It was in my Mom’s rock collection and she said she found it when she was little in AZ, USA. I assume the inside is opal? And any more information on type of rock/opal would be greatly appreciated. I am also thinking about cutting it to make the inside more prominent to wear as a necklace and less heavy. Do jewelers do this type of thing?

Use this garage heater to heat outdoor pool?

Hey all!

I live in Minnesota and we have an above ground 20 foot pool that holds 10,000 gallons.

Is there a way to use the garage heater to heat the pool? In a safe way?

If it is safely possible, what kind of setup would work? Heater is bracketed to garage rafters. Pool is located 10 feet outside from the heater.

Pictures of heater and pool.

42 year old lady with an affinity for cheap lawnmower beer and Chevy Trackers.

Howdy all!

I posted in what car should I buy last week and got no response. I am going to paste it here and any advice you are willing to provide would be extremely useful and helpful to me. If not, no worries and have a good one!

As mechanics, maybe you have some knowledge on what you see on your shops that you feel are good vehicles.

Original Post:

I will be returning my company leased vehicle end of this year. I have been searching around on CARFAX app to get an idea of what the market is burping up.

I am located in MN, USA and would prefer to get a vehicle with little rust. Traveling to the South is an option for older vehicles with less rust.

Any insight for what vehicle is a good fit or absolutely no go with these parameters is appreciated:

Budget: $18000
Body Style: Any (needs to fit 4)
Year: Any.
Engine: Something with a little oomph. No CVT.
Mileage: Prefer 20+ mpg
Drive Type: Any
Transmission: Automatic
Fuel Type: Gas or Hybrid

Thank You!!!

Maple Tree in MN, USA

Howdy All!

Located in central Minnesota and want to hang a swing from a mature maple tree. I would like input from this community. I understand pictures can only tell so much and advice given is not in stone.

  1. Thoughts on the branch to use in pictures: would you trust branch to hold swing with two kids up to 200 pounds total?
  2. If no, thank you for your time!
  3. If yes, what type of anchoring system would you recommend? And what type of swing?

Thank you!
