Question about the Clarinet Break

So, for reference, I write/arrange music, just got my first clarinet yesterday, and I do play flute as well. So, why is crossing the break more difficult on Clarinet than on other woodwind instruments? (E.g. on flute, from C# to D). Why is this so much more of an issue for this particular instrument?

Why are piccolos in D but Flutes are in C?

Edit: so I got the answer, which is that there's an older English convention apparently where an instrument in a flute section is named for the lowest note on that flute.

So this is something that confuses me as someone who is learning flute. The primary scale of the flute is D major. Which translates to the Piccolo, but piccolo is written at the octave, not the 7th. Okay, cool, so the key if woodwinds is the primary scale of the instrument. So Flutes should be in D too, right? Nope. They're in C. Clarinets should be in F (written G), right? Nope, B-Flat. So why are piccolos named this way?

Question about The Keys

Note: this is coming from someone who is considering learning clarinet for the first time. That being said, why do the ring keys exist? Why not just leave those holes open and keyless like would have been in days of old?

Historically, why isn't the violin a transposing instrument?

Basically, we all know the viola was made, then the violin. This could extend to the cello too, but more to the violin, as historically violinists were expected to play viola too. So why aren't violins written as violas in G, e.g. written in Alto clef and with a G being a written C?

You have other instruments, including the Violino Piccolo of the baroque era, being transposing instruments to make changing between them easier to read for a performer, which is why we have so many clarinets and the Cor Angles is written in F, so on and so forth.

So why didn't the violin become written as a "Viola in G"?

I don't know if anyone can help me, but I'm looking for diagrams for authentic Chalumeaux. I want to make an SATB consort for myself.

Basically the title. I haven't found dimensions or anything of the sort for the ring placement, or the wood thickness, or the two keys that Denner added, and while, yes, I will be 3d printing them, I still need to model them. I also refuse to trust AI to get it correct.

The big issue is it's not just about a reference image and copying that, I need specific dimensions, especially for the mouthpieces. If anyone can help out, I'd very much appreciate it.

I finally decided to learn how to CAD, and fixed a problem myself, and made my own Flute D'Amore. If anyone can try it and critique it, please do!

The Files are here for downloading!

Keep in mind, this is my first time, and so may need some adjusting, but I'm fine with suggestions for making it better. I just am currently out a hotend, so I can't test it myself

Resource for modeling woodwind instruments?

I'm looking to model a full consort of Chalumeaux, since I can only find a soprano c model, any idea where I could learn to model the others for myself?

Looking for a Flute D'Amore STL

Looking for a functional Flute D'Amore (preferably in B♭ rather than A) to print. I wouldn't mind one that is a single key or two key Traverso style, as that's what I'm used to in flute anyway. If anyone has an STL or knows of one, please let me know!

Creating my own domain of dread, would like some help brainstorming.

My domain is called Romzysk, and it's darklord is a Dullahan who was a warlord and murderer in life who became corrupted to this form, rather than died. I know I want folk and psychological horror to be in this domain, but what would some of the possible domain themes for this kind of darklord be? I'd imagine a battle field wouldn't be a prison to him, so long as he has more people to slaughter.

All and any ideas are welcome.

Anyone know if there is a Flute D'amore STL out there somewhere?

I'm enjoying learning the traverso i printed recently, would also like to maybe find a Flute D'amore, a traverso that is tuned a major 3rd lower, but has the same bore diameter as a standard traverso. Thought someone here might know something. TIA!

Looking for advice on finishing a flute.

So I'm looking to print an Irish flute in wood PLA. Wondering about what oils and stains people would recommend, what angle to print pieces at to make it look more like natural woodgrain. Also, how often a wooden flute should be oiled to keep it in good condition.

Just 3D printing a new Traverso, wondering what everyone suggests for a good key pad.

Just as the title says. I'm replacing my other Traverso with something I think looks a little nicer. It's a flat key, the style is Naust, any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Natural Horn with changeable crooks STL?

Is anyone aware of a Natural Horn (not trumpet) STL that also has various crooks? I'd be very interested in trying one. I have seen the Bb Horn from Open Brass, but that instrument is fixed, with no other keys available for print as far as I saw.

I'm looking for a traverse or single key Irish flute that would be easy to print and that sounds good.

For context, I play a lot of video game music, and I have the Axianov Irish Flute, but it's hard to produce some of the notes, notably the E♭ and F♮. That poses a problem with all sorts of music that has the distinct "Zelda" chromatic drop, such as the Zelda Theme, The Title Theme from Pokemon Red and Blue, Undertale, and more.

So I'm looking for a traverse flute that is easy to print and assemble and that has a good low end tone, while still being fully chromatic.
