Does anyone know the maker?

Hi! I’ve inherited this really ornate pistol among a few others. I have no provenance on it whatsoever besides it might have belonged to some noble italian.

I assume it’s 18th century (correct me if I’m wrong?). However, I haven’t found much on the maker

Mark reads : Pietro Paolo Sefevi

Since it’s 200yo italian alphabet I guess some letters might be off?

Anyway, please tell me more about if you can!

Should I melt it ?(50 grams)

Hi! I got this in a flea market for 8 bucks. It dates back to 1902. I can’t really figure what it is? I’m assuming it’s a letter opener but it doesn’t even look much like one.

Anyway, it’s not particularly pretty so I’m thinking about melting it.

What do the members of r/SilverFinds think?

Build-A-Bench with me : FRANKENBENCH Edition

Option A :

I get my hands on a pair of bedside tables, screw down some steel tubes on top the corners to raise the workbench to a comfortable height then mount the desktop on top of it.

My only concern is using metal tubes in the build? I reckon it’s gonna ring a lot and there will be vibrations?

Option B :

I get an old wooden desk, chop off the old desktop and replace it with a hardwood dining desktop, and I raise bench by putting cement slabs and rubber slabs under the feet

I have ZERO woodworking skills whatsoever, I know how to drill and cut but it doesnt go any further. I’d like to hear about your experiences about building benches? And which do you think would be the easiest to build and sturdier.

Please let me know!

Lovecraftian horror cufflinks

Hi! I’ve had these cufflinks for some time now and I’ve never found anything about the maker and I wonder if the design or mark rings a bell for any of you?

Also, any idea what the white stuff underneath the metal is? Always wondered.

Finally, enjoy the tentacular, eerie but gorgeous design that I love very much.

19th century mortar bomb

Hi! I have this really cool mortar bomb with a commemorative plaque sitting in my backyard.

As you can see it’s sadly rotting away under the moss, fungi and whatnot. I CAN’T BEAR IT ANYMORE!

I’d like to move it inside to clean it and give it a new space away from the weather. However, the massive rusted metal bar sticking out its back would just dent and scratch my floor. It would also probably end up impaling me if I’m not careful around it.

So, I’d like your opinions on whether I should cut it off. The bar in itself as probably no historical value at all and was just used to hold the bomb on a pedestal. Something is holding me off nonetheless, I feel it’ll take away from its history?

What would you do?
