Late filing for BIR Form 1700 (Zero Tax Due) – Do I still need to go to RDO or can I just pay the ₱1,000 compromise penalty online via Form 0605?

I’m a pure compensation earner and recently filed my BIR Form 1700 late using eBIRForms.

Tax Due: ₱0.00 (My taxes were 100% withheld by my employer per Form 2316)
Status: I already submitted Form 1700 via eBIRForms and received the Tax Return Receipt Confirmation (TRRC) email.

Since there is no tax due, my plan is to submit BIR Form 0605 on eBIRForms and pay the ₱1,000 online using GCash or Maya

Questions:

  1. Do I still physically need to go to my RDO to get an assessment, or is filling out Form 0605 and paying online sufficient?

  2. Will paying Form 0605 online officially clear/settle the late filing penalty in the BIR system without an RDO visit?

Appreciate any advice from anyone who has gone through this process! Stay safe and dry

Fresh grad / mid-month hire: Unsigned BIR 2316 for Korea Visa—what’s the workaround?

Hi everyone! I’m a fresh grad and this is my very first job. I was hired on January 17, 2025.

I’m currently preparing my documents to apply for a South Korea tourist visa, and one of the core requirements is the ITR / BIR Form 2316.

I managed to find my 2025 Form 2316 on our company portal, but it is unsigned. When I checked our HR guidelines, I realized why I was never prompted via DocuSign to sign it:

  • Our company policy states that to qualify for Substituted Filing, an employee must be employed starting January 1, 2025 through December 31, 2025.
  • Since my start date was January 17, 2025, I didn't meet the January 1st cutoff, so the system automatically excluded me from the automated signature batch for substituted filing.

Now I’m stuck with an unsigned 2316 for my visa application. Has anyone been in a similar situation when applying for a Korean visa?

  1. What is the best workaround for this?
  2. Do I need to submit a Letter of Explanation to the embassy/KVAC?
  3. If a letter is needed, what specific details should I mention to explain why it wasn't part of substituted filing without causing issues with my application?

Has anyone tried the ALLTOU LED Digital Coffee Scale for matcha?

Hey everyone! I’m just starting to collect matchas and hojichas, and I don't want to dive into buying a Timemore right away. I found this budget-friendly ALLTOU Digital Coffee Scale.

It looks like it could work well for precision-weighing powder and liquid, but I wanted to check if anyone here has actual hands-on experience with it.
If you've used it, how has your experience been?

Done being terrible with money. 24yo earning 30k, how do I properly allocate & invest

Hey everyone, please please help because I honestly don't know where to start.

I’m 24 years old and I’ve been with my company for a year and a half now. This is my first job, and I completely admit and am fully aware of how terrible I am at managing my finances.

Right now, I earn 30k PHP a month. Out of everything I've earned so far, I was only able to save 150k PHP. Here is where it currently sits:

• 50k PHP has just been sitting in my BPI account
• The remaining 100k PHP is just pooling in my payroll account

I have decided to change things and start saving aggressively starting this month. But more than just saving, I want to allocate my money to the right channels and investments if possible.

I know my money is just losing value by sitting in low-interest accounts, but I am overwhelmed.

- Where do I start?
- How should I break down my 30k monthly salary?
- What are the "right channels" or high-yield savings accounts (digital banks) in the PH where I should move my current 150k savings?
- Are there any beginner-friendly investments I should look into?

Would love to hear your advice, frameworks, or any steps you took when you were in my shoes. Thank you so much!

Recos for bold, umami, and nutty local matcha powder

Hi! Looking for local and/or imported matcha recos that are full-bodied, bold, umami-rich, and nutty.

For reference, I like the matcha from Go-To Matcha in San Juan and want something that tastes close to their profile.

Nokori’s komo vs mori

Nokori will restock their matcha later and I’m still torn between Mori and Komo. For those who tried both could you please compare the 2? Huge thanks!
