Went to go see YOASOBI concert last week. Everything is from the Apothecary Diaries collection from Steady Hands. The vocalist of the duo does one of the openings for The Apothecary Diaries anime, hence the outfit choice.

Stopped by Fan Expo Boston to say hi to some friends and voice actors, saw Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and melting in the humidity.

Yesterday, in the heatwave we’re encountering, I noticed my cat having symptoms of heatstroke. He was lethargic and panting, so I tried to cool him off multiple days, from dabbing his paws in water or cuddling him in front for the air conditioner. He was still panting and had trouble using his hind legs, so I decided to take him to the emergency vet. As I was getting him ready, I saw him drooling as well, which increased the urgency. They took him immediately upon arrival.

After 15 minutes of the emergency room grabbing him, I was updated with news. His breathing wasn’t stabilizing and the prognosis was grim. It was congestive heart failure and fluid was backing up in his lungs. Saving him would be difficult, but even doing so, his quality of life would have struggled. My wife was sadly out of town for business, but we made the tough decision to humanely euthanize him for ease his suffering. I got her on FaceTime and she managed to see his last moments together with me.

I never expected things to turn out like this, it was just so sudden. He was a very funny food-motivated guy and a sweet lovebug. I used to hate cats, but my wife convinced me that we should rescue him when he was a year old in 2011. He came from a hoarding home and was covered in fleas when we got him. He allowed me to open up a newfound love for cats. These 15 years together have been a wonderful joy and we’re going to miss him so much.

This was a fun birthday trip! Being right on the equator, I had to be very liberal with the sunscreen and hydration. I did manage to get slightly sunburnt on my last day in Ecuador.
