Boba Buba my indie game is out now on steam

Hi everyone 👋

My indie game Boba Buba launched on Steam today, and it already has its first few players, which feels pretty surreal.

I’ve been working on it during evenings and weekends while working full-time, and one of the best parts has been involving my two young boys along the way. They helped keep the whole thing fun, and we’re all really proud that people are finally playing it.

It’s a casual match-3 game with a cute story mode, but the part I’m most excited about is the endless mode. It has some light rogue-like elements, and when paired with leaderboards it can get surprisingly addictive.

Thanks for taking a look!

Boba Buba - My “solo dev” game launches May 15th, although my kids may dispute the solo part

Launch Trailer - Boba Buba 15th May 2026.

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share my indie game Boba Buba, which launches on Steam on May 15th.

It’s a cute, fast-paced bubble-pop puzzle adventure about saving the Bubble Kingdom from bitterness. You play as Boba Bro, popping waves of bubbles, chaining heart-powered combos, and facing emotional drink bosses like Iced Crystal Tea, Lady Earl Grey, Strawberry & Cream, a dramatic Glass of Water, and Sir Latte the Over Froth’d.

One of the big reasons I got into game dev was to make something with my children, who are 5 and 9. They helped come up with characters, personalities, silly ideas, and plenty of jokes, and all of the concept art! So while I’ve called this a solo dev project, I should probably admit I had two very demanding creative directors 😄

The game has:

  • 25 Story levels across 5 worlds
  • 5 x Boss battles with unique personalities and abilities
  • Endless Mode with relics and escalating pressure
  • Global Steam leaderboards (for both Story and Endless Mode)
  • Music that my kids at least love!

I also want to be upfront about AI use, because I know there is a lot of understandable frustration in the community around low-effort AI slop. For this project, AI was not used as a replacement for creative work. It was used to improve, polish, iterate on, or help realise our ideas, art direction, music direction, characters.

Honestly, AI was also paramount in making the project possible at all. It helped me keep the budget realistic, move faster around a full-time job, and turn the process into something educational that I could share with my kids instead of disappearing into production work alone.

For me, this project has been part game, part learning experience, and part way to show my children how an idea can turn into something real if you keep chipping away at it.

It’s not a massive studio game, but I’m proud that it exists, and I’d really appreciate anyone taking a look, wishlisting, or giving feedback.

Happy to answer questions about the game, Steam launch prep, or trying to finish a project around work and family life.
