Developer for few years, but never did the following

I'm a self taught developer. I mainly work with React, and I usually make my own projects, and some freelance work for many clients.

I want to have a job instead of being self employed in this field, since it's something I love. But most jobs as a developer require you to work in a team of developers, where you have to collaborate, pull, branch, merge and that kind of stuff in live action.

I never had the chance to do this before, and would love to do so, so I could at least gain some experience in this matter before starting to apply. What do you guys advice me to do? Thanks in advance

Is this legit?

I'm using a 24$ droplet (80GB SSD 4GB RAM) and want to add backups to my app. The users constantly do CRUD functions, so the frequent the backup, the better.

There is the percentage based, which is weekly (20% the cost of droplet) and daily (30% the cost of droplet) So what to expect from this is that the more frequent the backup, the expensive it becomes.

But looking at the usage based, the frequent it is, the cheaper it is. I know I might be missing something. But would appreciate your help if you can estimate the monthly cost with me. I've used the calculator the platform provides, but it wasn't helpful

First real money ever made from my SaaS!!

I know this isn't that big of a deal, but seeing how 2 years of learning and building a web solution as a part time hobby is starting to make me some money, I just can't describe the happiness it made me feel.

The app is subscription based with monthly or yearly payments. Since Stripe isn't supported in my country, and I'm not a full business yet, I just went with Paddle, and selected Euro as the subscription currency since its the second most used currency in our country.

Why cash and not digitally?

First, my currency is "DH" which stands for Moroccan Dirham. And:

let oneEuro = "10.6 DH"

let oneUSD = "9.3 DH"

Since Euro is volatile and raising in value, and I'm listing my plans as 15€ and 30€.. the users get afraid of wanting to subscribe monthly or yearly, because 15€ could increase monthly in value (1st month ~160DH, 2nd month ~170dh and so on) and 15$ is worth less than 150DH (about 140DH...) So not very profitable for me.

So I built a manual solution by choosing bank transfers or cash in hands instead, at agreed times as in the subsciption invoice my app generates, with built in notification reminders.

This is just a temporary solution until I find something better, when I can finally identify myself as a business.

The first user choosed the cash method instead, after completing his free 14 days trial, telling me to come over next month to collect the first annual subscription of the app, if he likes and adapts to the solution, which I'm sure he will.

I wanted to share with you guys this little experience I had in the beginning of this journey, and I tasted what it's like to have a passive income outside of your job, and it does taste amazing. Now I'll be working for more and hope for the best to come.

Thank you for reading!

I [23M] don't know what to do with my [22F]

My girlfriend and I had been in a healthy relationship since the moment we met, we've gone through both good and bad moments, had arguments that made us learn how to deal with each other better, and most of the relationship is just circulating about lovely l stuff.

The main point is, she once told me that her brother who is married abroad, his wife has a brother. Im sorry I dont know if this kinship has a word, but that brother found my girlfriend cute and was planning to propose to her. She told me he didn't do so, and she wasn't interested at the moment.

But recently, her sister and some of her families went for a walk, and talked about how she should get married, which she just tried to escape by with a laugh and jokes, but they brought up that guy to discussion again, and that his family and him are coming tomorrow.

Knowing my girlfriend, she without hesitation, told me something had happened and that she's afraid what she'll say might hurt me. I told her to do as she wishes, then told me all of this, which I reacted to with a "comforting her" way, since I can feel what she might be going through, and she keeps bringing how she isn't ready for marriage, and that she still wants to attend school next year and will be preparing for it, and that she doesn't feel like belonging to anyone but me.

What she said was truly comforting, but at the same time, made me feel something strange. Since I'm just a dude who's just getting started on his life, Im not financially well to propose and fight for her, while that other man is living in a 1st world country and is probably doing well. So I'm starting to feel like being an obstacle in her life, and preventing her from living a good life. I won't say I won't be able to make her see wonderful days too, but since I never visited her, and Im just getting started in my life, Im not sure if I can do good too.

If you have gone through something similar, or just saw something you want to say I will gladly love to hear any insights or advices you have with a warm heart

Moving to a big city with less than 5000dh and no connections. Am I crazy or is this doable?

I’m a 24yo guy currently stuck in a small city where the job market is pretty much dead. I’ve decided I need to pack my bags and move to a bigger city (thinking Casablanca, Rabat, or Tangier) to actually have a future, but my situation is tight and I need a realistic reality check.

Here is the honest breakdown of what I’m dealing with and what I'm afriad of:

  • The biggest issue is that I don't know a single soul in Casablanca, Rabat, or Tangier. I don't know where to look for a cheap shared room (colocation) or how to avoid getting scammed by a samsar when my budget is this low.
  • I have less than 5000 DH to my name and zero family backup. Right now, I survive on the 500 DH (monthly da3m) and by buying/reselling stuff. I’m incredibly disciplined with expenses, and I love walking everywhere (helps me hit my daily 8k steps anyway), but realistically, less than 5000 DH means I have maybe a month and a few days to find a job before I’m completely broke.
  • I’m a developer. I’ve been freelancing full-time the last few months, but the client drought is real and it’s too unstable. I want to find a regular 9-to-5 job for stability and use my free time to keep coding. Besides dev skills, I have 3 years of experience as an administrative assistant in a high pressure office, and my language skills are solid. I have my resume and portfolio fully ready to go.
  • I really, really want to avoid call centers. The hours are brutal, and I need time left over to work on my health and my own tech projects.

Has anyone here made a similar move with almost no money? Which city would you recommend for someone with similar skills to mine? Also, any tips on how to find a cheap, safe room to rent when you're starting from zero? I know it’s a massive risk, but staying here isn’t an option anymore. Appreciate any insights or love you guys can give

I probably messed up, need your help

I'm a Moroccan citizen, and want to go to Egypt next month. I booked the flight from Morocco (Marrakech) to Egypt (Sharm El Sheikh) with one stop at Hungary (Budapest).

And the catch is, I don't have any Visa, Schengen or anything else. I have booked this flight because I've heard many say that as long as you don't leave the airport there, you're good, and that's what I'm planning to do, just get off my first plane at Budapest Airport, wait there for 5 or 6 hours, and go on my next flight.

But when I'm trying to check in, and reaching the Visa section or Residence Permit, and leave them empty, it gives a confirmation message saying "Are you sure? If you didn't pass the check in here you'll do it at the airport and have to provide the necessary documents". The platform I booked from is the official website of WizzAir, and their airplanes.

I want to know if I can safely go to the airport without worrying, and if the Visa check is required even if I'm just passing from there and stay at the airport until the next flight arrives. And what to say or provide if I was asked about this. Thanks in advance

Edit: Additional helpful info

I have no luggage, just me and a small hand bag. And I will probably be traveling in the same airplane brand or whatever (See picture below for more info) I hope I'm not cooked

Edit 2: Thanks y'all for your help. It turned out I'm cooked for real, and my only solution is to sell the tickets to someone else even below their prices to at least minimize the losses. I would be glad if you can mention a place or some groups or platforms where I can make such deals

Built a system that transformed one business, now I’m stuck trying to sell it to others. What am I missing?

About a year and a half ago, I started working with a car rental business to build them a custom management system. They were drowning in paperwork, manual tracking, and all the chaos that comes with running a rental fleet. I built the system step by step with their ideas and guidance + my skills. The result? It completely transformed how they operate. It saves them hours every day, keeps their bookings, fleet, and customer data organized, and they regularly tell me they couldn't go back to the old way.

So naturally, I thought that if it helped them this much, surely other rental businesses would want this.

So I spent months turning it into a proper SaaS. Built a modern landing page, set up monthly and yearly subscriptions via Paddle, got a solid domain, and hosted everything. I was genuinely excited to launch.

Then reality hit.

I started cold outreach, some voice notes, short and respectful texts, that target independent car rental businesses that still rely heavily on paper or basic spreadsheets. Out of everything I sent, like 95% were completely ignored. The few responses I got were basically “not interested” they've shown no curiosity, no questions, nothing.

I’m trying to figure out where I went wrong. A few thoughts I’ve had are: maybe my messaging was too feature focused instead of focusing on the outcome? Maybe cold outreach just doesn't work well in this industry? Or maybe a video ad (not a screen recording, but a real, well produced video showing the app being used in real time) would make thing work out?

I’m not giving up, but I feel stuck in the “I know this thing works, but I can’t get anyone to care” phase. For those of you who’ve sold SaaS into traditional industries, how did you break through? Would love any advice or hard truths. Thanks in advance

One thing to note: the app is currently made and targets a specific country, but I'm willing to go international if things went well

I encountered this issue in the last phases of my web app

After finishing the app I've been working on, I decided to use Paddle to handle monthly and yearly subscriptions. I followed their documentation and getting started page and did almost everything they say, yet I got this error as in the screenshot. That happens after I generate a checkout link in the server side, and navigating to it.

If you've encountered such issue before and somehow fixed it, or at least you know a little better in this field, any helpful hints or advices will be truly appreciated

LDR with a strange language. Help needed

I 23(M) been speaking to 22(F) for the last 3 months. We met in a game and got along very well in everything. Up until now, we have been sharing photos of each other, and only talking through text chats, since we need to use translation to express ourselves. I'm learning her language, which is quite close to mine, so there has been some progress, but there is a long way to go.

I'm willing to slowly bring things out to video chats, and playing some collaborative games together while we're on a video call. But since we haven't even heard each other's voice, I'm practicing my first sentence that I'll be sending her soon through a voice note. If things went well, I'll consider the video call option but only after making sure everything is fine and she's comfortable with that.

What I want to know is: what kind of activities could we have as a couple who doesn't speak the same language? Are there some good games out there for people like us? And also would like to know if this video call option is still early and I should just focus on learning her language more for now.

I would also would like to know if a relationship like this would work out. We truly love each other, we had many arguments even in such a small period. We have passed through almost all emotions together, and we always understand and adapt to each other at the end of the day. Spending time together started to feel like a normal routine. We play online games, watch movies, and do some other activities at the same time, but I would love if we can see and hear each other while doing these kind of stuff. Any insight or advice would be appreciated
