Advice on Best Way to Sell Silver Item?

Hi All,

Sincerely appreciate any advice. I was told by a family member this was purchased in Mexico probably in the 70s, or 80s and was claimed to be silver. It is stamped on the leg with "Zanfeld Plata 999". It weights 2666 grams. I have never owned silver and never had to convert it to a dollar amount. It seems silver bars are the easiest way to exchange silver for tender from my limited research.

So when it comes to items do you have to go to Pawn/Coin places? Do you drive to refineries? Anyone felt comfortable shipping an item that might be valued high to a refinery? I am also under the impression you would get less of a cash conversion with an item to be melted versus having a silver bar? How accurate are those XRF machines and the best place to find one to be used? Lastly, in short, if this was yours what would you do with it to reasonably get it converted to cash?

Thanks so much for any thoughts! Feels like the Knights Tale where they had to break off their trophies for winning jousting tournaments to convert to tender lol.
