Miniatures in board games (Good or Bad?)

My friends and I played Nemesis recently and there were some mixed feelings about the miniatures. Some thought they were super cool and added a lot of *vibes* to the play. Others felt like they were a pain to deal with and needlessly inflated the price of the game. (Please note, I'm not talking about tabletop war games like Warhammer, obviously miniatures are the whole point of that sub-genre.)

Curious what this group thinks about miniatures. Cool vibe generator or fiddly cash grab?

Edit: Warhammer genre

My cousin pissed off a guy at a Cubs game, now Rupture is on the news

Months ago, I brought my cousin to watch his SF Giants play the Cubs. After he loudly celebrated the Giants 16th run of the day, the guy behind us finally cracked and told my cousin to sit down. My cousin flipped on the charm and was suddenly the mayor of section 224L, buying beers, taking selfies with Cubs fans, and listening to everyone's life story.

Turns out, the guy behind us was a reporter at WGN. We got to talking about my game and he said WGN wanted to cover the story of its development.

After thirteen weeks of scheduling woes, fear that WGN might back out, and event planning anxiety, here is the result. I'm super happy with the outcome. Hopefully our kickstarter page is cohesive enough to capture some of the interest from the story. Thanks in advance if you're willing to provide feedback or recommendations!

They cut my "thank yous" section, so I wanted to include our wonderful artists here. Ari, Henry, Julia, Kate, Pat, Kaylin, and Arancia. Go check them out if you like the new artwork.

How is this supposed to work?

We're trying to launch our game, Rupture FCG, on Kickstarter. We just activated our pre-launch page and are running into the paradox above. Obviously a pile of cash can solve basically any problem in today's world, but I'm honestly not sure how this is supposed to work.

Is anyone else struggling with this? Does anyone have recommendations on promoting a Kickstarter before the Kickstarter money actually comes in?

The game designer and creator are fighting over minutia now. Please help settle which version is better.

The graphic designer and the creator of our game (Untitled FCG) are fighting over the minutia of the card design. Will you please help settle the debate?

Any other feedback while we're at it?

Back by popular demand: Untitled FCG character concepts

Untitled Fighting Card Game combines the turn-based, tabletop gameplay of Magic: The Gathering with the pick-up-and-play excitement of Super Smash Brothers. Each of my six gen-1 characters has a standardized 60-card deck with moves unique to that character.

I've tasked a different artist with breathing life into each character. They're using their style and medium for all aspects of the character design and card artwork. The details will continue to evolve, but here's an early look at the character concepts!

Which one do you like the best? Which one do you like the least? Fight about it in the comments!

First look at My Untitled FCG Beta Cards

Untitled Fighting Card Game combines the turn-based, tabletop gameplay of Magic: The Gathering with the pick-up-and-play excitement of Super Smash Brothers. Each of my six gen-1 characters has a standardized 60-card deck with moves unique to that character.

This game is for people who want to play a magic-like card game but don't have the time (or money) to build their own deck of trading cards. Games last 20 minutes and require nothing aside from the cards. Replayability comes from having to adapt each character to counter each other characters' strengths and weaknesses. I already have six gen-2 characters in beta and more on the way.
