And the morning light will hide the darkened days gone by

And the sun will shine again across the endless sky

Glorious eternally, we'll rise above the world

Marching onto victory, we fight

The fire still burns...

I have been pretty depressed recently, in part due to the state of the world and these few lines just hit me like a fucking train, not gonna lie it made the eyes a bit wet. Growing up I thought DF were a cringe and cheesy band (they are) but my word... Sometimes the lyrics combined with the otherworldly music just absolutely hit the spot. The way ZP delivers "Toniiiiiiiiiiiiiiight" is uplifting for me in a way that I don't think I get from anything else. I'm so happy these guys exist

Post about the sub, not the band (Billy Gnosis)

I think I speak for a lot of those who’ve been here a while, what ever happened to Billy Gnosis, why did this comment which was apparently him on a new account, get removed? If I’m out of line asking for info, mods, I apologise and please remove the post, but the man is a legend of this sub and my curiosity has gotten the better of me

Apparently we’ve signed Bertrand Traore.

Sorry for the Facebook link. Comes with a decent pedigree, senior figure and gives us an extra option in attack. Pretty happy with this on paper

Diogo Jota hat-trick in a Premier League classic! Wolves 4-3 Leicester City | Throwback Highlights

Saw Jota's name on another post and it reminded me to watch highlights of this match. The Neves ball to Diogo for the 3rd goal (and the 4th) genuinely gave me full body chills. What a magical few years to be a Wolves fan...

"I'm very confident in the plan." | Cesar Peixoto pre-season interview

Sounds like the players are putting a lot of work in. Hopefully they're frothing at the mouth at the idea of being able to win some matches

Disciples of Babylon

New poster, just wanted to shout out this song. It hits like fucking crazy, the vocal melodies are absolutely fantastic and the song has a much meaner (If I can use that word to describe DF 😅) sound to it. The harmonic riffs in the first verse sound menacing as hell.

Then we come to the instrumental/solo bit, holy shit... Vadim's piano is magical at the start, properly takes you away to a little fantasy land before we get a bit of funky flamenco sounding type shit (I don't know the word but I know you know the bit) then straight back in with that fucking sick guitar tone over a fairly relaxed bit as far as the Force are concerned. The song doesn't fully kick back in to being full chaos mode until the vocals come back in, straight back into the haunting chorus.

I also notice how Zp adds a little bit extra to the "hiiiiiiiiiigher" bit each time he sings it and it hits like a fucking train. Finished off with Vadim flexing like hell, double bass pedals going nuts... then it just stops with a boom.

Fucking 10/10, absolute masterpiece of a song.

String buzz on a new RG550

The G string has a loud buzz when played open, is this normal on a new guitar? Can’t say I can hear it with the amp on but it’s very noticeable when plucking through the strings unplugged. None of my cheaper guitars do that so ideally I’d rather it wasn’t there. Any help is appreciated!

Thanks to all who offered advice earlier, I bit the bullet and bought a new one

£900 when I was considering £800 used and nearly £100 for a train ticket to get there, no-brainer.

Everything I've heard about these sound amazing, can't wait to finally break out of the mid-range bracket. Now to spend the next 5 years learning a Dragonforce song..

Worth the upgrade?

Currently got an RG421 and am looking to upgrade to a 550. Reviews say they’re worlds between. I love my 421 but have recently started pushing myself to learn fast solos.

Is it worth it? Found a lefty genesis for £800

Ps I’m a lefty so it’s a bit of a pain shopping used

If you get the chance to see Anthony Green, do it!

Honestly they were incredible, the singer is insanely talented. No regrets attending the gig, definitely don’t miss out if you have the chance!

Overly excited noob, made a tragic mistake

I have got metal filings on my pickups due to not being careful (first ever attempt reworking frets), I'm assuming this is the reason for loud buzzing when it's plugged in.

Obviously it's all stuck magnetically... Anyone have any tips on fixing this? A lesson was learned today.

Does these need work? Context in body

This is a project guitar so I won’t be taking it anywhere to be done. I don’t tend to bend the strings too much on this guitar and I can’t say I’ve noticed a physical difference while I play. Sometimes certain notes on the guitar feel a bit quieter/louder than others, could this be why?

Also any advice on the easiest and least destructive way to sort it would be greatly appreciated. Cheers all and have a good day

Relative noob with some experience, got some questions in preparation for tomorrow's project

Got myself set up to start working on my guitar tomorrow and was wondering if you guys could help me with a couple of questions. Any help is appreciated. I'm left handed so I have to kinda make do with the parts I can find at times, especially as I'm doing a switch of most of my hardware over to gold. Gonna change the tuning keys, bridge, the input section and give it a cream pickguard (on a polar white strat, gonna look banging!)

Anyway;

  1. Wood filler. My pickguard holes don't fully line up properly, if I use wood filler and let it fully dry, will I have any issues creating a new hole that is basically 50% on fresh wood and 50% on where the old hole used to be? I'm assuming not but just want to double check.
  2. I'm unsoldering the output jack to add a different one which fits the gold washer and nut (completely pointless really but I want to do a complete job), but currently the wires are not only both soldered on but also wrapped around, making it very difficult to set them free from their prison of solder. Currently I'm holding the iron with one hand, the output jack in the other with a set of pliers and can't do anything about the wires wrapped around the lug once the solder melts. What is the solution to this? Do I cut the wires and try from there? Are there some good clamps fit for purpose?
  3. My frets have got slight wear when I rub my finger on them. In general it feels really nice to play, I haven't noticed anything up to now. Is it worth polishing them or something like that?
  4. My G string on the guitar somehow sounds a little bit duller than the rest, like it doesn't come through the amp as loud as it should. What should I investigate to find out what's causing it? I'm guessing it's something do either with the bridge or nut. (I am replacing the bridge anyway)

Sorry for the wall of text, any help is appreciated, I've been looking forward to cracking on with this for a while and I just wanted to set myself up the best way possible for tomorrow. This is a project guitar and I can handle getting things wrong. Thanks in advance for any advice.
