what kind of eye style would fit my art?

as you can see on my art examples, i have no clue in what style i should draw/render the eyelashes. (third picture are examples of different eye styles though i will admit they all kinda look similar)

feel free to say how i could improve it as well :) because id really like to draw pretty eyes but i dont know if they will go with my style or just look too much.

thanks! hopefully i worded my title right

attempted a colour study, any tips and advice?

i struggle with anything to do with colour in terms of shading/rendering (especially with it looking muddy) so i'm trying this fruit exercise out! i find i'm better with colour on traditional but with digital it feels like a whole new thing

my favourite blueberry on here is probably the most bottom one.

any tips and advice for colour studies and anything colour is greatly appreciated, thanks!

a month of progress

i'm aware that the way these are drawn are quite different (one being outlines, the other being shapes) but i wanted to share this anyways!

i found the paper on the first photo, when i was first trying out gesture drawing and poses. comparing it to my mannequinisation drawings now, i can see most obvious progress in the torso and the lack of stiffness in my newer ones!

mannequinisation progress. next steps? (apart from learning anatomy)

most -> least recent

would appreciate critique for the ones in the first pic as i did those today after doing some separate cylinder and arm work! but here's progress from the last four days. alongside gesture drawings

(i JUST realised i have been doing Proko's robo bean torso wrong. i'll stick to how ive accidentally done it unless there's any learning setbacks)

two things im aware i need to work on is:
-breaking doing body into more shapes to make it appear humanly (eg adding a sphere for the calf)
- do more of these to solidify knowledge

is there anything else i seem to be missing? and when can i move on to anatomy, once im comfortable and confident in mannequinisation and gesture drawings?

thank you if you comment! i really appreciate anything that helps me.

clueless on how to improve drawing eyes on the head. please help!

looking back at my art, facial construction - especially the eyes - is something i need to improve on

the eyes on my studies turn out way better than when i don't study for some reason, even when using a reference. i'm assuming it's because im not familiar enough with the eye and eyelid, how it sits on the face etc. to turn it to my own style?

i usually spend a long time trying to fix them when i do some art (as seen in last photo).

currently feeling a bit lost. any tips and advice would be a great help! (and anything else you spot)

gesture drawings + shape body, what do i need to improve?

not sure what to call the practice in the first pic so i just said shape body.

compared to my last gesture drawings in a previous post , these are much flowier and more like gesture drawings. a main problem i see is not getting the body proportions right though.

not sure how i feel about the two shape body practices, i used proko's robo bean here since i had been practicing it prior.

i think the bottom one is better but i realised it looks like she's posing facing forwards and backwards at the same time.

any other practices for the body is appreciated! i've been focusing on faces more that the rest of the body is just meh.

feels like my artstyle is boring, how could i further improve?

these are in order from most recent -> least!

since the start of summer i've been improving my art, including my artstyle.

i've always felt that my style isn't really eye catching or visibly interesting, nothing in particular stands out (kind of like everything is visually the same, lack of focal point)

two factors i definitely know are lighting and composition, which im starting to mess around with.

but ive always struggled with what style to render the eyes in, and rendering itself (hair especially as you can tell by the inconsistency), not saying i'm bad at it.

is there any other way to make my style visually interesting? thanks a lot!

(not sure if the knife is a TW.. if so i will take this down and redo it!)

artstyle progress (so far), how could i further improve? (TW:knife)

goes from most -> least recent!

i always found my art nice, but they don't have any factors that make them eye catching, which i must be from pose and lighting, so i'm currently experimenting with more dramatic lighting (second one).

+ first three pieces are after i studied the head and its planes

and the second last is the only one i did on my laptop which im pretty sure is why it looks so detailed (i used the same pen for third one and it's really different)

one of the main things i struggle is with what kind of style to render the eye in, right now it feels a bit out of place with the rendering on the face

anyways thanks for reading this!

(not sure if a knife to the neck was a TW so put it jsut in case)

tried greyscale rendering, please critique!

not sure if i'll try this again, but it was fun!
>> it was tough trying to make the shadows shadow without having them appear muddy once i put the colours on over it

i do the sketch on paper, then the rest on digital

trying new brushes!

took me ~7 hours. well... this counts the 3 hours spent colouring in and messing with the line art brush 😭

u/Wardenacija — 24 days ago

did a little study. please critique!

human heads and faces are my worst enemy, but it's something i must learn.

i think i made his forehead a bit too long, but not sure if it's the phone camera changing it a bit because his forehead looks shorter in the last photo (before i made last minute changes)

unfortunately i could only find a HB pencil so couldn't do darker shades, also rubber was a bit big for the drawing so couldn't really add highlights either

next time i'll do a bigger sized study! but please do critique this one still

not sure what to improve for my build apart from talents

i recently swapped her attack goblet with a pyro damage goblet because she actually did more damage with it, but now i'm not sure what else to improve

(with attack goblet her attack is ~2,300)

working on her talents, maybe trying to farm a better sands for her? please let me know your thoughts !

edit: should i increase her attack ?

trying out multiply and screen layer

up until two-ish weeks ago i had no idea people used those types of layers for their artwork 🙂‍↕️ assumed it was just picking a colour on the wheel and hoping it worked

anyways here's art of a genshin NPC

started practicing some pose drawings, would love some feedback

please ignore the other drawings at the back, i was trying those 1 minute gesture drawing things but got confused (should watch some more videos on that soon, or any tips appreciated)

these all took about ~15 minutes

from what it looks like, i should improve on how to make the torsos more accurate (as i don't bend them back enough like in first and second)

anything is appreciated though!

from what it looks like, the torsos aren't very accurate (eg i don't bend them back enough like in first and second) and definitely need to work on arms more than the others
